@MrPage19 I beleive it was a Horton Explorer 150lb pull bow. @ 2005 model. David Choma was the engineer for that particular bow and he designed a great bow. One of the best ever made and distributed. Thanks for the question!

@sc3n3cor3 Well, there was no feeder there, but I have to challenge your opinions on hunting over feed. It is hunting, and nothing wrong at all for any hunter to choose that style of hunting. We have different weapons, different styles and different areas of vegetation and game. It's all good. Some use a different kind of attractant, as in scents, pinch points, and other food sources or minerals. To each ther own, it is all good, and none or wrong unless they are illegal. Good Hunting!

Crossbows are LEGAL everywhere in the United States. You do not have to have a permit to use one and there is no age restriction on them. If you plan to just shoot targets in your backyard though, be prepared to buy a lot of extra bolts or arrows for you all who are not into crossbow lingo.

My Grandpa has a vertical Longbow but this one isn't those stupid cheap wooden ones. This one is about 2-300 dollars here in Canada. I forget the company but i know how fun it is to shoot a bow as you shoot it, its so fun and amazing to just watch and think about this gliding arrow in the sky that you just shot.

@nimdawf In Texas, you can be any age to own a crossbow or a vertical bow. It's considered Sporting Goods not fire arms. For hunting, there are some rules. You have to be with a licenesed adult hunter, but you can be any age to do this too. My 6 year old grandson took a very nice buck with a crossbow with help from Grandpa.

@jgmtiger I don't know for certain that bow would be a hunting bow or not. If it were me, I woluld pass and be sure I acquired a bow that was for certain a hunting bow. It may be only good for targets and you'll be very dissapointed. Good Luck!

@jgmtiger I'm not a big fan of some of the Barnett line of bows for one reason or another. I do like the Predator butr still shoots too fast which makes arrow flight an issue occasionally. I like a bow that shoots between 290 and 345fps. More stability, but they hired Hortons old engineer, so should be better bows in the future. Horton hired Barnetts old engineeer-stay away from the new line of Hortons then. His designs have issues. Good Luck!

@Sum0nelse That is how arrows work by hemmorage. We don't head shoot, we try to heart shoot, or lung shoot. Besides that even with a rifle, if you head shoot it, it's pretty hard to mount at the taxidermy. Ms. Kassi had this buck entered in the record books and had it mounted so she could preserve the buck and remember that hunt for a life time. She rocks, doesn't she? Have a great day!

SInce deer season is here again, here's one of my fav recipes.

Take a backstrap and slice into steaks. U can marinade in teriaki sauce if desired. Take a pepper of what heat you like. I prefer Pablano. Bellpepper will work or fresh serrano or Jalepeno. Place the pepper on the steak, roll up and wrap with smoked thick peice of bacon holding with a tooth pick, and grilling over a wood fire is best. Mmmmm!!!

Venison is a very rich and strong meat. It definately depends on you taste - if you aren't amazing at cooking a simple venison casserole is very nice.

You have to skin the deer as well as gutting it and cleaning it before thinking of getting the meat.

i said the same thing take your kill quarter all meat and dbone it and put big cooler with ice and salt alot let it sit for 24hours in the ice with salt the rich or gamey taste is gone cant tell from a steak umumum good

Of course! Venison is some of the healthiest meat you can put on the table. No cholesterol and low fat, or steroids like store bought farm raised meat.

Never heard of people eating deer eat? What planet are you from? LOL. It tastes as good as the cook makes it that's for sure. Backstrap steaks are the best cut. Very prized cut. When harvested, you remove the guts and organs, (called field dressing) skin it, then butcher it into steaks, hamburger, roasts, and chili or stew meat.

It is the best meat for cardiac or diabetic patients. Beef is 35% cholesterol and has very high fat content. Thanks for asking.

I think u would be in for a big surprise if you tried that! Deer are not the cute and cuddly lil' creatures like on cartoons. Especially, during the rut. A buck deer will fight you with those antlers, and a doe deer with try and stomp you with their front hooves. A buck will too for that matter. That would make a highly viewed video for youtube tho. I have 2 vids here of bucks fighting. I've seen them attack a man and a vehicle myself. Took a man to the ER with broken ribs after a deer attack.

well, im going to ask you a question. if you type in " a deer" in search you will see a lot of vids being posted by people. in this vids you see how those deers and elks walking around thier back yards. my question is: why don't they hunt em down and eat them. it will save a trip to forest.

There are laws or rules for hunting game, or discharging weapons in the city. We only take the deer after the have their babies and they are weaned, and before they are pregnant again, so the season is set for wintertime when they are in their breeding season. Whitetail deer and Elk only breed once per year. Other deer like Chital deer from India, breed all year around with no set rut season.

Where we live, they're are way to many deer and since there are no natural predators anymore, we harvest so many, to keep the population under control, somewhat.If there are too many, they won't have enough food to support all the population, then, they starve to death slowly and painfully. Deer don't have mates. They breed freely, even interbreeding.People enjoy the venison meat as it has no cholesterol,very low fat,or added chemicals.The best meat is wild game now a days.

No, we follow the signs the animal left. Nothing technical. We follow the blood trail, the hoof track left in the ground, and the disturbed vegetation. Thank you for asking your question.
