This is one of my favourites of Burns,i have been to many burns suppers and I rekon this is the best performance i have seen,well done bruce would love to see you doin yer stuff live, very entertaining.disapointed by the ignorant remarks made by some folks ,would like to see them recite that stuff , cheers

@CaTheYowes I agree his delivery is a bit rapid at points, but I think M. Fummey conveys the drunken exuberance that is undoubtedly intended by Burns' extremely well. McClelland's delivery is rather safe, cosy and sober for my taste; vive la différence!

To my view just as bad as it gets (and it usually is not bad at all). To me delivered like a cross between a stand-up routine and a dire one man fringe show (perhaps a one man Moby Dick would be better for him). Also lots of mis-pronounciations to my mind. "queens" instead of "quines".

A excellent recital of Tam, Well done. A Yorkshireman living in Scotland for some 25 years now, I have been on the receiving end of racism from time to time. In some strange way I can accept this and put it down to ignorance in the main. What I have difficulty with is "shame it was from a black man." This is clearly a racist comment for which the author should hang his head in shame. If I were to recite Tam wearing a knotted hankerchief and wellies would that stir such a negative response?

You must be joking LOL, are you seriously saying the Ancient Egyptian manner of dress in linen sarongs had any influence at all on the Scottish kit which did not appear for several thousands of years later? Besides with the exception of the 25th (Nubian) dynasty, Egypt was certainly not Black African anyways.

Furthermore, The Declaration of Arbroath makes no mention of Egypt. It claims the Scots came from Greater Scythia. What you are thinking of is the Irish Book of invasions, and the Scotia and Mellisian Myth, which are just that Myths. There is No genetic or archaeological evidence to support these claims, and were written by Christian monks, trying to justify some biblical lineage.

The kilt was originally worn in Egypt. Legend and history, as indicated in the Declaration of Arbroath, tells that we originated there in Egypt, descended from the Egyptian queen called Scota who travelled from Egypt; her descendants eventually arriving, via Ireland, in the northern part of this island and gave us our name.
