@DeadRodentGirl its just most people who i know take the piss out of people with aspergers by calling them ass burgers, it seemed like you were almost taking the piss out of the condition, which would come across offensive to others with the condition. but your right, do what ya like ;) sorry if i came across a bit of an ass lol
Hi, I relate to everything you said. I don't know why, but people sometimes think that I am lying when I say I have asperger's syndrome because I can talk like a "normal" person. I'm 46 years old and you gain knowledge of how to "fake" being neurotypical. I still screw it up most of the time and the more confident you get with people the better it gets. You have to develop a sense of humor and just say "well, that's just how I think" to yourself.
I've recently read a book called "Mindblind". It's a fictional work based on someone with Asperger's syndrome. I've become very intrigued with learning about it. I'm not sure why I find learning about Asperger's syndrome and autism so compelling- but I'm happy there are people such as yourself putting your thoughts out there. Thank you.
@ambry99 That's really cool dude :D Yeah, there's even a movie out there about a guy with aspergers living with his dad until his dad dies and he has to learn how to function on his own. It's pretty awesome.
That's great you want to help out others on the spectrum with art therapy. That's something I'd really love to do also.
'Fake aspies', well apparently its cool to be 'strange, weird and nerdy', and they say that's what us aspies are. If only they actually new what it feels like. All the little frustrating things we deal with which are often hard to explain.
@DeadRodentGirl I live in a south london shithole full ofoajdofjasdfojsdfioajfoasdfjoasdfjoasdfaso fuckers argghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
@superarmysoldier12 How old were you when you got the diagnose? I have accepted that i have aspergers but from time to time i get really pissed off when my symptomes like anxiety and panic attacks etc, stoppes me from living a normal life.
- (continued) they still scare me. In Britain though therapists look more for autism, rahter than autism spectrum desorders so women who have it are usually undiagnosed until we majorly "flip out".... i admire you for helping others, and you should be proud to be who you are aspie or not... you are you :) ...being aspergers doesnt define who we are, it gives us similarities, but we are individual and unique... all my best wishes to you, take care :) x
Hi there, how are you? You are who you are and who you are is wonderful, never change, be yourself, and if anyone around you doesnt except you for who you are, then they are just silly. I'm 29 and only recently have i found out what made my life a living hell growing up, so i can understand where you come from, and yes iv had to work on alot of things too . I find FB has helped me to get over some social hurdles, because in a group i tend to latch to one person, and parties they still scare-
Hi there I have asperger's syndrome as well. I'm curious when it comes to the whole eyecontact issue how do you work around it? I myself have found that by looking at someone's eyebrows or between there eyes it gives the impression as though I'm looking them in the eye but if they have know me long enough to know of asperger's then I dont realy have to worry, your lucky you got the kinds of classes you did growing up my school ignorently stuck me in special ed.
You did a great job on your video. I can relate to you. Anyways, I hope you get the chance to see my videos about My Life With Asperger's and how I tell my story.
I think you were lucky to find out so early. I was diagnosed last year with AS and HFA and have struggled all my life. I'm twice your age and just found out.. I think my two year old girl has it too and am going to get her tested. But watching your vid made me think of things I've been through and you seem perfectly cool to me. AS has it's ups amd down Tony Attwood said it best people with AS dint suffer with AS they suffer from other people!
@AllTheAspects At first the doctors thought I had autism [which I probably may have started with] because I had the usual symptoms like become over obsessed with my toys, not responding to my name, creating my own language, etc. so they decided to test me early while I was in preschool. I kind of feel bad sometimes because when people don't understand my behavior they get upset and then I don't know how to react and I just kind of curl up in a ball and die a little.
Thank you for making this video Dom :D I do not have aspergers but I was inspired by you anyway!
