  • What kind of band is this??!!, i tried to figure it out but i couldnt some of these kids look like they're 10!!! BUT THEN I SAW AN OLD DUDE SOOO...........n then some collage kids

  • the vals is very slow!!! :S

  • My high school band is playing this song!!

  • the parts around the 3:00 mark was painful to hear. the slow sections. because the intonation was atrocious. but nevertheless, i really like the sound of this band, the musical intentions for this piece is quite well expressed.

  • que desafinacion tan hp

  • how old are those little kids in this

  • I LOLed at the bassoonist landing on her note with authority at 2:39-2:40!

  • My high school is also doing this song, and there IS nothing worse then a flat oboe, especially on an oboe featured section. I'm a flute player (and may I say, coming from an all-female flute section, it's refreshing to see a few GUY players) and the runs are challenging, it took me quite a few practice hours to get it down, (and they're still not perfect). I love the horn part at the end of section B. This is a great song, and you guys did marvelous!

  • The oboe starts off ok, but then drifts flat. That means two things: 1) she has a crappy reed, and she's nervous about it. 2) Because she is nervous about it, she's covering the reed with too much lip, which pushes the sound even lower. There's nothing about those notes on the oboe that would make them inherently flat; it's all reed/player.

Have mercy on her folks. Anyone who says no instrument is harder to play than another has never played oboe.

  • BEAUTIFUL PERFORMANCE! You guys r right though, the oboe is out of tune. But you can obviously see that the oboe player is trrying her best and I think she's capable of playing this solo even better when she's tuned :)

Also I think the producer knows the bassoon player :p

Moi boa interpretación... animádesnos ós das bandas (mooooito) máis modestas a querer imitarvos :) Parabéns!!

  • french horns were out of tune in the starting horn calls.......could have been fixed with a hand tune....also the first trumpets a hottie

  • french horns were out of tune in the starting horn calls.......could have been fixed with a hand tune....

  • os suena de categoria!!!!

  • funny how my tone is the same and i got thrash by my conductor

  • very fun and rewarding piece to perform!

  • very good!!!

    Compliments.

A hug to the girls of the drums =)

  • The oboe is out of tune, and I think that sometimes the t.bones flutter tongue a bit. Other than that, this was a really good recording.

  • Ummm... for only having two french horns, SUPERB. I can't believe how much sound they can generate and outplay full sections of trombones and trumpets.

    KUDOS.

  • Man - those horns are incredible. For only having two of them (the piece calls for 4), they sailed through the licks and made it sing! Great tuba, too.

  • the flutes were not tune ..........so bad its sound

  • The oboe sounds rather flat; especially starting in C in the middle of the staff and below that. Any oboists here to discuss some particularly annoying notes to tune on the oboe :)?

  • @rmfotj Hi, I agree totally with you. Even more, she is completely out of tune in most of the parts of the piece but it is more noticeble during the solo. Despite the fact that she looks nervous and maybe the reed is not helping (I always kept my best reeds for the concerts) she should have done something to tune with the band. I mean, I am sure they tuned before starting the concert but the tuning changes easily in the oboe because it has a very delicate mouthpiece.

  • This piece contains a beautiful timpani part. Too bad one can't hear it.

  • the piece sounded really robotic. No emotions being shown through the players. The Oboe player was either out of tune or there's something wrong with her reed.

The brasses were fantastic, kudos to the French Horns. Lack of manpower for the wind ensemble. Overall was an alright performance.

  • I HATE IT WHEN PERCUSSIONIST SIT DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ITS SO LAZY

  • holy oboe player!

I hope it was just her reed... she was touching it after all.

And I wanted some vibrato out of her but I received none! :(

  • cute flute-player ;)

  • Very very impressive! I wish i could play that well.... And most of them look so good looking omg :/

  • oboe is really out of tune.... i played this solo last year.

  • Someone has the baritone B.C sheet?

Felicidades.

  • Not bad at all...a bit out of tune though(trombones)

  • @sudarshan1994 Govindaprasad!!!!

  • ahh this song is amazing...and why are hispanics ridiculously good looking?? haha wish i was with this band

  • that oboe is out of tune. actually, in the second half, beginning in the slow section, there were a TON of pitch problems. and yes, i can talk. my highschool band is playing this and we correct those problems, or at least tune when we go off pitch. regardless, this sond is extrememly difficult and yall did play it extrememly well, but nothing sucks worse than an out of tune oboe. EXCELLENT french horns.

  • Hah hah hah. I wish I could play as good as that oboe player anyways. I play clarinet and french horn pretty decent though. And flute. I wanna play bari sax.

  • @justintimeparish play the oboe is difficult if you´re nervous...she looks nervous, well... actually, she sounds nervous even in the solo. I have to say that in some plays for "amateur"/non professional bands oboes sometimes seem to be out of tone but the problem is not the oboist, it´s the score.

    PD: sorry for my english

  • @Jille69 Hi Jille, you are right, she is nervous, but the problem is not the score but the tuning. She is able to play the solo. However, she's completely out of tune during most of the score. That's because the way she holds the mouthpiece is not always the same. In fact, the pitch varies easily depending on the pressure you do with your lips and your mouth.

  • @justintimeparish Isn't it easier to tune an oboe rather than a timpany in the middle of the song?

  • dang this is a really good band...

  • well done! this band is well balance... im an oboist from my band n i hope dat my band can play like urs

  • really luv the tubas,, tubist, well done,,,

the oboeist really play like ure in luv wit its,, well done,, luv it very much,, but but the intro , the sounds not 'full'; enough then,,,

  • i hope my band will play like this one day!...........

  • tuba does work

  • did the cymbals player just missed his last note?

  • great job

good up beats on trombones keeping intensity

great job overall tuning issues in someplaces i think they know it too but great job

  • The performance was really nice as this was the piece was quite complicated.

The phrases were beautifully shaped. The runnings of the woodwinds were neat and clear. The brass was sounding great!! Very clear tounging.

HOWEVER, some sections seemed to be out of tune. (Oboe, horns)

IS THIS A DVD Video? I also want to have one!!

  • You heard of the joke?

How do you make a horn player and an oboist in tune?

Shoot either one of them. haha. No offence. Great playing.

  • F-horns are not in tune
