  • You know the second he comes out of hyperspace like fifty stardestroyers appear behind him

  • the guy who does dash's voice sounds alot like alec baldwin

  • Did they remake this game?

  • I remember hearing about this ending in the book about Shadows of the Empire; not the comic or the novel, but the 'Making of" book.

  • My freind cried at this ://

  • When I was a kid, I had a hard enough time playing this on easy that I didn't bother trying to unlock the extended ending, much less face IG-88 on medium or hard, so I never knew what happened to Dash until now.

  • I can just imagine Dash having a good drink about this sometime after.

Yeah I knew he was alive after finding Wookiepedia, but back then when I just beat the game and read the novel, I felt massively cheated.

  • Whoa, Dash is alive...and he's voiced by Canderous Ordo. I am surprised.

  • The Nintendo 64 couldn't do CG cut-scenes silly. ; P

  • @Ostnizdasht206

It could do CGI cutscenes just fine. It was just that space was limited, and they couldn't fit them in. Try StarCraft 64. It has CGI cutscenes, but they are incredibly cut down from the original pc version.

  • Back when i beat this game (on easy that is) i always sort of knew Dash was still alive since it said at beginning of end credits "Did Dash really make it out alive? Beat the game on medium to find out." so i knew there was some surprise behind that based on Dash's survival, but never realized why he never came back until i watched this

  • What version of Shadows of the Empire is this from? I owned the N64 version when it come out many moons ago and I don't remember there being voiced cutscenes?

  • GAH FUCK YOU DASH

YOU HAD ME WORRIED FOR OVER A DECADE!!!

  • in the 64 version, if you finish the game on I think Hard or harder difficulty you get this ending, just not animated and no voices of course. in any other difficulty, even if you escape the skyhook, you only get the other ending.

  • Well THERE's a big middle finger to Xizor I never thought I'd see. The 10 year old version of me would have crapped my pants upon hearing this news. Hell, I nearly did just now, and I'm 22!

  • you can get this ening on n64 but you need a debug cheat ( after its activated you can use the menu when the games paused) then use the teleport option and teleport yourself out. A different ending should appear

  • Isn't this the only ending?

  • WTF

I thought he was dead :D

  • I got this ending on n64. You had to complete the game on normal/hard/jedi mode with all challenge points, I can't remember which.

Or you could just use debug mode if you're not good enough.... *Ahem* .Wampa..Stompa

  • really? i busted my butt for three straight nights only to recieve a cliff hanger, only to find out THIS is what i would've had to play it AGAIN for?

  • Dash Rendar is the absolute man. My childhood heroine

  • But hearing Dash's voice... I am disappoint.

  • I KNEW DASH LIVED :D My dad told me he died, but I knew somewhere in that N64 game code, DASH WAS ALIVE! (I find this out ten years later)

  • @BabyCovenant22 me 2! holy crap.. always felt as if he didnt die. lol we were right

  • Fun fact! Dash Rendars Voice also does Canderous' voice in KOTOR

  • Anyone else notice that every voice in the Star Wars games are reused? All these voice actors were in KoTOR.

  • @BeastingIt

John Cygan (Dash) and Tom Kane (Leebo) are LucasArts' top voice actors.

    Ever were...

  • Dash > all

  • Holy shitballs. HE LIVED!!!!

  • Finally, I get to learn that the ending's a little bit of disappointment.

  • DASH!!!

    I KNEW YOU SURVIVED! SOMEHOW!!!

*inner 9 year old bursts out*

  • Sooo, that's why I didn't make it out from station when it goes off...I thought I crashed and died for real...

  • Although I do like the enhanced graphics, I think that scenes like this and the one with Luke and Dash just plain look better on the 64.

  • Is it true you can see his ship in the 1997 version of the film?....

  • @JakeANowhereMan Yes it is entirely true. It is in A New Hope, when they first go to Mos Eisley I think.

  • @JakeANowhereMan I'm pretty sure thats a myth, but it'd be damn cool if you could. Let me know if you ever find out.

  • Dude sounds like Jim Raynor

  • @GMaster39 I was thinking the same thing.

  • Sweeeeeet... never beat this game past medium back in the day... I was only like 8 so I sort of sucked at it. Nice to finally see the REAL ending!

  • "It's good to be a martyr without actually having to be dead, wouldn't you say?"

*rolls eyes* Yeah, this guy and Han would get along reaaaaaal peachy.

  • Dash you scoundrel! LOL!!!

Yeah I beat this on Jedi difficulty back in the days. I was determined back in my youth. HAHA!

  • hahahahaha wow i never knew this was the secret ending

  • In the N64 this happens if you beat on Normal and Higher...

  • HEEE LIVES!!! DASH LIVES!!!!

  • As much as I loved this game when I was younger I recently read the book and this game is nothing like it. That is mostly a bad thing in my opinion.

  • @ShenmueAtheist The game focuses on Dashs story while the book is more about Luke so the game is a side story to a side story oh and btw to all who read this this ending is canon DASH LIVES!

  • AH! HE MADE IT :D

  • Anyone else think There should be a Petition to get shadows of the empire Movie made. I would love a animated version like the Clone Wars Series... That would be epic

  • @unleashthestars They would retcon it, erase the existence of Dash, and have Luke and Vader fight with Vader loosing.

  • great game: robot bounty hunter= seeker rockets, boba fett= seeker rockets, slave one= pulse blaster, empire star base boss= seeker rockets and pulse blaster, sewer boss= seeker rockets...

and that's how i beat this game :>D

  • @RevelationWarriors The seeker rockets wouldn't lock onto IG-88, at least not in the N64 version.

  • @karatechopgeo stand in front and FIRE like HELL!!!!

  • @RevelationWarriors pretty much, or better yet grab the pulse cannon up top which does a lot more damage in fewer hits

  • @SirBruceX I WISH I STILL HAVE THIS GAME.

  • i got this ending when i was 10. so rewarding!

  • I had the N64 version of SOTE and it didnt have any talking. Is there a different version for like PC that has talking?

  • This game is so ahead of its time, damn they really need a modern version of this or a sequel

  • what a great game!...setup for a sequel? :P

  • Dude, where did ya get this from ??

  • i was to dumb to beat the game on medium as a kid...always wanted to know what happened. sick ass game

  • John Cygan's such a great voice actor; I learned he was also Solidus Snake in MGS 2: Sons of Liberty.

  • Hmmm Sounds like Alec Baldwin

  • @killxthexpoor Actually the voice actor also did the voice of Canderous Ordo in the Kotor series.

  • Just FYI - that's John Cygan, who also voiced Canderrous/Mandalore in the Star Wars: KotOR games.

  • hey guys, i was thinking, maybe if we all e-mailed lucas arts or sumthin, and enough people join, we could try to get this game back. i love this game, and would like your help to get it back

  • Dash Rendar is like Ash Williams

  • Good to know he survived...I always wondered if there was a secret ending where he did make it...looks like there was!

  • HE SURVIVED?! AWESOME

  • The voice actor for that robot must be voicing 343 Guilty Spark from Halo or whatever

  • @InSaneTK i just checked they dont sond anything alike

  • They do. Xlrwolf10... Come on, where did you check? Just listen to the cut scenes with 343 Guilty Spark in Halo: Combat Evolved. It's an astounding likeness, just that here the voice has a slightly lower pitch.

  • @InSaneTK i just looked up a halo video

sparks voice was really high pitched

  • so thats what happend

I sucked on Hard Difficulty so I didn't see the ending only in the comics or the book

  • Pfft, the rebel aliance was a sausage fest anyway. He probably ran off to Narshada to get high off kessel spices while fucking twilek pussy.

  • space travel is always creepy

  • He's a pirate and smuggler what do you expect. Though he does have a point about hiding from black sun. If they thought he was still alive they would hunt him down and kill him.

  • @gundog39 true, but by that time the Zann Consortium and for a short period of time Jabba's criminal empire would be his only sort of threat even though they would probably employ him as a high ranking mercenary since he did take out both Tyber's and Jabba's rival as Tyber would of come out on top eventually.

  • @Bill6490. That is a very good point, i never thought of it that way.

I've played EAW: forces of corruption so i know about the Zann consortium and it's rivalry with both black sun and jabba the hutt.

  • You're probably reading a bit too much into it. He is a man of priorities and fighting for a cause he doesn't entirely support is not one of them. He's done his one good deed and some people will remember him as the person who died to help the Rebellion continue its fight, and that brings him comfort. When evil is as necessary as breathing when it comes to smuggling, merc work, and piracy; even one of two people having a positive memory of you can keep you motivated.

  • @colest503, you're right, I am being a bit to harsh on rendar. He is one of my favourite charcters, I pefer him to han solo and i think the outrider is cooler ship than the Falcon.

  • associate that with the term, "ignorance is bliss"

  • Is this ending just for the PC? I didn't get it in N64 version. I thought he was dead.

  • It's in the N64 version - it ends up being in slideshows, but it's in there :)

  • It's the PC version of the hidden ending. You get this if you finish the game using the medium difficulty mode.

    Here's the N64 version:

    watch?v=pD8RQYgjcf8&feature=related

  • bah, it was removed due to terms of use violations, is it on anywhere else?

  • Comment removed

  • you have to beat it on the harder settings to get this one, but it's there

  • @dalek22 you can get this on the n64 version you have to be really careful flying out of the skyhook

  • @dalek22 I had it on PC.

  • @dalek22 Yes, this ending is available in N64

  • @dalek22 i think everybody thought the same

  • @dalek22

You can find the N64 version of this ending at watch?v=43KC8T1LA4c&feature=related

  • @dalek22 you have to pass the game on medium in the N64 version

  • @dalek22 It's in there. You have to beat the game on Medium to see it

  • @dalek22 it's also in the N64, i've seen it... a lot... if im correct, you just have to finish the game in medium (might be hard) or above.

  • @LoLeLombardi If you play this on Jedi difficulty, the enemies got no MERCY. 0.0

  • @1989gamemaster I know, I know... I've done it... so...freaking...hard! Took me like forever!

  • @dalek22 there is a way to get this ending in N64. SilentQix has a vid of it on his channel

  • Greatest ending ever, total badass moment.

  • dash is kind of a bastard hehe "its good to be remenbered as a martyr without actually to be dead"

  • i forgot Anthony Daniels voiced the Dash's droid

  • John Knoll is the voice of Dash the Bad Ass.

  • eeee, he is? i don't think his voice is good as that.

because i watch john knoll through the behind the scenes of star wars movies.....

  • I din't say the actor was, I meant the character. an actor can turn a bad ass into a wimp (Robert John Burke, Robocop 3)

  • aaaaaah....... ok ok. :D

  • Awesome!

  • such a badass ending

  • I remmber this game but i had the n64 version so hearing dashes voice and seeing things move was eally cool and you people are right that is the guy who voiced canderous!

  • Epic.

  • It is true that someone related to xizor tryed to take over black sun after ROTJ, but Guri ended it.

  • Who's voice is that?

  • the droid is voiced by Tom Kane, while Dash is voiced by the same person who played Canderous Ordo in KOTOR

  • the droid is the clone wars voice over dude WHO is also admiral yularren AND yoda

  • wow i notice it too didnt know that

  • Got this ending on the N64

  • I got the N64 version of this ending before I watched this. This is the PC version. DASH RENDAR ROCKS!

  • N64 version was better

  • is this from getting all the challenge points? :\

  • no mate, just complete the last level on medium or hard. if your use to playing it on easy then even medium is a big step. good luck.

  • my fav game !!

  • man!!!!!!

    best fucking game ever!!!!!!!!!

  • Dark Forces 2 is the best Star Wars game ever :P

  • they made a dark forces 2?! :o gods, i loved dark forces 1...i've gotta play that now!!! XD

  • they made dark forces 2: jedi knight about 1997. There's a sequel to that too... these games are now fairly old

  • Nope i know im gonna sound like a douche for going one generation above the n64 but i felt that Republic Commando for the Xbox was the greatest star wars game, Then SOTE, then Super Star Wars 4 the SNES....and maybe KOTOR

  • wow that SOB gets away all this time and i never knew that

  • Funny to see that I am not the only one to just figure that out, all these years I thought he was dead.

  • I dont remember the graphics looking that good.

  • This is the PC version

  • One of the greatest fucking games ever.

  • i remember as a kid i tried finishing this game on hard mode just to find out this secret ending....but i never did saw it...until i saw this video right now hehehe it took about 11 yrs since that time hehehe

  • me too... LOL this game is awesome

  • I... Loved... This GAME!!!

It just comes to show that games have not really change over the last few years. Just the graphics.

  • hmmmmmmmmmm... sounds like canderous from KOTOR

  • That HAS to be one of the Baldwins' voices. Oh, the memories I have of this game. . .

  • Was a great game.

  • Agreed!

  • Great ending!

  • for what console is this?,this is note from the 64

  • The game is for n64 and the PC. This is the PC verson

  • Lol thats hilarious, i have the n64 version so I'm glad I watched this.

  • same here XD

  • was that alec baldwins' voice?

  • i think the gay show starwars the clone wars(new) stole this ship design tweaked it a prick and claimed their own orignal idea.

  • Love that ending.

  • Oh wait this is from the PC version... wow.

  • Okay I didn't expect much, but that was actually pretty well done.

  • crackshack2 actuly canderous in KOTOR was moddled after Dash hince why canderous looks like Dash

  • Interesting, dash's voice does remind of canderous's, are they both voiced by the same Voice Actor's?

  • he reminds me of canderous from KOTOR

  • I was just thinking the exact same thing.

  • i beat it ithink when i was 8 or something. save the big green bombs for the robot at the end

  • Dash Rendar is the smartest man in SW. More characters should have taken his advice and split.

  • Well Han tried, but he had financial trouble :/

  • you find out the ending by beating the game on medeum... I THINK.... thats for the N64 version anyway...

  • ok.. is this actually in the game? if so how do you unlock it?

and before i saw this i knew they survived... even before i started browsing the net (i must have been like 10 when i finished it the first time). If you look close enough when the station explodes you can see a dot move away faster than any others. That's his ship :P

  • it's the pc version, you have to beat the game on hard, it truly is the secret ending no fake.

  • the ending here seems better than the ending in TFU in darkside

  • dash sorta sounds like carth onasi from kotor!

  • No its Canderous.

  • yeah, now that i think about it, it is canderous. is the mandolorian leader in kotor 2 canerous? i think so, but im not sure.

  • Yeah Canderous is Mandalore from kotor2.

  • ok cool, i thought so. thanks bro.

  • Weird how this game (and others like it) on N64 have moving mouths when characters talk, but games like Tomb Raider on PS1 do not have moving mouths when characters talk....

  • uh...this is the PC version buddy. only story board cut scenes for the N64.

  • wow that was perfect in my opinion.. bravo.

  • Shadows of the Empire was the same as The Force Unleashed in terms of how hyped up it was. It proved succesfull unlike TFU.

  • I dont know I liked Force Unleashed.

  • same here

  • Cygan's voice here sounds like Alec Baldwin.

  • witch version is this

  • hmmm this is the VA of candrous too from kotor

  • Yep, it's John Cygan.

  • Where did you see this. I believe you, but where?

  • you need to beat the game on Medium Difficulty

  • DUh...knew THAT

  • Dash is alive? Praise the maker! :D

  • ahh man the pc version looks awesome compared to the n64 version [which i had]

it even had commentry instead of subtitles

  • So the PC version of Shadows of the Empire has this really cool cut scenes?

Damn I whant it so badly!

  • Yea so do I but its used special graphic and system requirements, on most computers now it's incompatible.
