i dont know how different the vests are for canadians but do they protect better than the kevlar americans use? mostly to protect against shrapnel then bullets same for your helmets are they any different?

The helmets are no different. If it stops a bullet, well don't kick a gift horse in the mouth, but really they're to protect your head when an explosion occurs(like a grenade). This is why most duck and cover positions point the helmet up and your face in the dirt. The vest on the other hand are different. Over seas the vest that are used have what are called ballistics plates, which are metal plates along with the kevlar that are used to hopefully stop a bullet, like a 5.56 or 7.62 not a 50 cal
