I Love the 6.5x55 :) best little hunting cartrage ever made, low noise, virtualy no recoil, and absolutly deady on any and all game, none of my magnums ever killed any quicker, I handload 120gr ballistic tips right at 3000fps in mine for deer and 140gr SSTs @2740fps for the bigger stuff. I have yet to ever see an anamal in the wild that requires the 160gr bullets.
no offence mate but you look abit queer to me? am i right? and thick. are you thick aswel? you do look thick, and gay. i bet youre both. im dieing to know??
I absolutely love that caliber. I have a CZ 6.5x55 swedish mauser, that I use for hunting everything. I use a 160 gr round nose bullet. Needless to say, 160 grns in 6.5 caliber makes a very long bullet. Last year, I took a hunting trip to Africa for zebra, and I shot one at 120 yrds in the front of its chest, and when it exited its rear end, it took a chunk of meat the size of a dinner plate out of its right buttock. I just love that gun. I also have a Ruger model 77 mk2 in .264 winchester mag.
@frankbama94 Wow, I knew Swedes were accurate, but had no idea You could take African game with one? Everybody I come across wants a Magnum for everything. I have M38 Husquavarna I've yet hunt with it but I find it's a great shooter. Would be nice if more factory rifles were chambered for it. Do folks eat Zebra?
@frankbama94 Hello, I'm looking for a caliber for game such as deer, boar, bobcat and coyote, is 6.55x55 to powerful, or should I go with .243 win, my 30-30 is too much for the smaller game. Thanks
@ondeckcru im a hunting guide in scotland and tho i use a 243 if i could afford a 65 55 i would deffo have one they are the all round caliber !! if you can afford it go for a 65 55! well worth the bit more money, ive shot roe deer ( a small framed deer around 10-20kg dressed and red deer 100+kgs with the 65 55 and its kills then but dosent make them into mince meat! just make sure and use the right bullet like hollows and ballistics will destroy meat but a soft nose is ideal! hope this helps ?
@ikilldeerlots Thank You that helps a lot, I'm looking for a proper rifle to take with me! and I'm glad I received an answer after these months. Best Hunting!
@ondeckcru The 6.5 Swede is probably one of the best calibres out there.Low recoil, inherently accurate and the very high sectional density means exceptional penetration. The Scandinavians harvest their moose with this.Do not go by magnum mania. This will take them all with ease. You will not regret and you may actually get rid of your other bigger rifles.
No i do not hunt for a living, I just enjoy hunting. I use 129grn SST out of my Ruger 77 MK2. Very Very accurate, only down side is hard bullet and does not open up very well on large game at short range
I have used a mod 70 Winchester in 6.5 Swede with a kahles x 6 scope for a long time and the combination never let me down in all my hunts. The accuracy and penetration of the projectile 120g upwards is very good indeed. Accurate shooting is easier with the mild recoil and even large animals went down quick and the Norma PPC 139g bullet sure saved a lot of meat. My favorite was the spire 129g spire points which were simply amazing on animals at medium range.
picked up a kimber carl gustav 6.5 last month, put a bushnell 5-15x40 0n it had the timney trigger put in and threaded for a wildcat moderator, after a bit of amendment to the stock and some home loaded ammo, spanks the lot! deer/fox even rabbits at 300yds ;) v accurate rifle at a cheap price, just needs a bit of work to bring it out......

I too love my ex military Husquavarna 6.5 x 55. Shot crows to moose with it and shot groups under 3/8" at 100 yards. All with reloaded ammunition.
