im from Zamora Michoacan. And there is tons of people that still speak purepecha. In the city its mainly wuares and their children.. who take the bus there to sell. Howver in places like the once pueblos its spoken more since they are little towns all next to each other. One of my friends there told me that it was one of the particular cultures that resisted the invasion for a long time...
posibly it seems distinct from the rest cause it never integrated any other influence as much as the rest
Something that is very important to say of Guachimontones is that he grew up about 100 B.C. so and he dissapeared about the 400 A.D. It's contemporary with Teotihuacan, Monte Alban and Tikal, all of these cities was the nucleus of his civilizations.
We know that the Andean/Incan areas sent traders to Western Mexico. We know it because of the pottery and metal weapons that the Purepecha used. Another unusual thing is that the Purepecha language is unrelated to any of the languages of North America. Plus, they do not use the same calendar system as do the Maya, Zapotecs, Mexica, etc. The Purepecha are a fascinating puzzle to explore!
There are about 200+ temples in mexico that are none found any where in the world. Nice History and connections. Thanks. If you go to Zacatecas, can you talk about the chocomoztoc, seven caves..that be where I be!
