I really am a fan of his recorded guitar work with "Television". But I had a chance to see that band perform live with Richard in the lineup a half-dozen years ago and I really was...surprised...at how sloppy Richard's playing was at the time. Maybe it was just fatigue, but I was a little disappointed
There's a difference between being 'good at it' and this guy.. all these negative comments are typical to those who don't respect musicians for who they are. This guy learned from a friend of Jimi Hendrix.. Who the hell are you?
Fuck this guy. Ive been playing guitar for 25 years and people say Im good at it. I dont give a fuck about the technical aspect or what the techniques are called. This takes all the enjoyment and spontaniety out of it.
I've just started playing, this is totally beyond me and I got nothing out of it, but Richard Lloyd looks like an awesome teacher, if you can deal with bi-polar, that is. Sometimes you'll get yelled at, others you'll get more ideas than you'll ever use.
I'm a "shred" guitarist who is obsessed with technique, laser precision and accuracy and scales, modes and shapes. This is all I have to say about Richard Lloyds style and all of his meanderings. FRIGGIN' AWESOME! I love his simplistic yet very visceral playing. Absolutely LOVE it!

I can't play a guitar at all but it used to be a dream I had. Richard Lloyd is what I would have liked to become. I just like watching him play.
