  • good goal

  • What a tip!

  • Well its about time a call goes r way all seen we had good goals disallowed

  • I'll first put a disclaimer up: I am an EXTREME Red Wings fan, and hockey fan in general.

That being said, this was a high stick, in my opinion. However, it was only by an inch or two, if that. Therefore, there was not irrefutable evidence to overturn the call on the ice (which has screwed us many times, believe me).

The defeat of a team that has no bearing on the playoffs with a goal that is SLIGHTLY controversial pales in comparison to all the times we (and U-M...) have been royally screwed.

  • @whitebus2012 You've gotta be kidding me.

U of M was HANDED the CCHA title by the refs this year.

  • @briano4 i posted that comment the day after we got screwed in the ncaa playoffs against miami. and how on earth did we get it handed to us? we had a huge push against all odds to win that tournament, and every fan i know from every fanbase (northern, ferris, msu and miami even) agrees that it was an amazing playoff run sparked mostly by our walkon backup goalie. i remember nothing that was even influenced by refs. maybe it's my bias and im forgetting something here?

  • Wow, the Red Wings have had a flare for the dramatics as of late. With every point they earn in the standings, they make my heart stop. And look at them now. One point behind Nashville for fifth in the West, and six points behind Chicago for first in the Central. BOOYAH! GO WINGS! KEEP IT UP!

  • Close but it was the right call.

The goalie jumped because the puck was rising. He didn't even really need to jump though. He could have just let it go. If he had, he might have been able to stop the tip.

  • THAT IS HIGH STICK!!

  • ...according to Delauriers "I'm 6-4 and I was jumping in the air," he said. "The last time I checked, the goal was four feet high. I can't do anything about that."

the tip must have been at least 8 feet off the ice because the goalie jumped, I stand corrected.

  • @boudrozoltar lol, Stuart tipped it down, why would the fact Edmonton's goalie decided to jump to a height over the goal change anything? It's bad decision making by Deslauriers at worst, with him committing to Datsyuk's shot going up before Stuart changes directions. Also, part of Stuart's stick can be over as long as the point of contact is below the bar.

  • @KaesoBrutus KaesoBrutus, my sarcasm wasn't very clear, my fault. I found it absurd that Deslaurier would claim that because he is 6-4 and he jumped that obviously it was a high stick.

He played a great game, but he is already playing the 'I am a victim, they couldn't beat me without cheating' card that every player for a Canadian team seems to take on.

sure, it was close to being a high stick, but not close enough to whine about it.

  • @boudrozoltar Oh, my bad.

  • really, this is the 'controversial' goal in the game? not the one with Howard checked into the net, or the one with 7 oilers on the ice, or the one where Rafalski is put in a leg lock behind the net?

    interesting.
