Both Android and iOS are solid interfaces, but I prefer Android for three main reasons:

1. In my opinion, I think Android is more user-friendly.

2. iOS is only supported by iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. Android is supported by many different companies such as HTC and Sony Ericsson.

3. Android is more affordable(type in HTC Explorer, then iPhone 4S on Google.)

You can already create stand alone HTML5 applications that work on any device. It comes down to if Apple allows HTML5 applications to be executable and distributable to their devices. My guess is no (without jailbreaking), but we will see.

I've never used an android device I have found my Ipod touch 4G very useful for college and entertianment I have had issues updating/restoring firmware on itunes but it was on Windows Xp so i'm not holding Apple responsible for that as I've had Problems with XP i switched to linux for now till i buy a Mac

I've never used an Iphone but I will say that android market is quite a cesspool. Junk overwhelms the quality apps, downloads from the market are slow if they download at all. I kinda doubt the issues of app compatibility between the few different iphones and the large array of android devices is even.

There must be some reason why when the market share of the operating systems are as they are, iphone crushes android in app sales? I'm speculating that it has a lot to do with QA.

Apple's app store is much more secure than googles android marketplace.The app store requires developers to sign a digital certificate.That makes it harder for developers to distribute malware anonymously.Also, apps in app store run in a sandbox meaning they don't affect the system.And last, apple rigoursly checks apps before approving them so it's heavily moderated, unlike android.

I have both. HTC Desire and iPod Touch. I can say, while both share some apps, they are both unique. I have fun apps on my HTC but play more on my iPod Touch.... my HTC I can take everywhere and have those apps but I'd have to carry both my phone and my iPod Touch if I were to be satisfied...

But that's what we are... unsatisfied being who want everything... I'm happy with what I have :)

4-) The apps don't have to be approved by Apple, in other words it is open source. People put apps in the Android Market for rooted phones (which goes against the phone and carrier's policies) and they do not even remove it :)

The only downside are the games, really, the Appstore has more games, but the marketplace is still developing so... :D

Why?

1-) Most of the apps are free

2-) They do have all the major apps everybody wants and needs (Pandora, Shazam, Twitter, Facebook, Bump, Documents to Go, etc.)

3-) The paid apps are only for very specific things or just something you want. If you don't like the app you can simply uninstall it within a given time and you get your money back. Even if you changed your mind, you can still install it again and pay for it once more.
