It'd be awesome if it ended like this and in the next one it ended up that Sidney survived and was still recovering and Jill became a target of another massacre or something. But this movie already didn't get as much as the other ones, if they had an ending like this, a lot of people wouldn't watch the next one.
I am sick of seeing movies always end the same way, with good winning, evil should win some more because good is dumb. Movie industry is running out of ideas. It is pretty sad.
What I don't get is why jill did not make sure sidny was dead, since she hates her so much, why did she not stab her a few dozen times? Makes no sense to not stab her in the face like she promised. The regular ending was really dumb.This ending is in fact how Scream 4 should have ended is right! Atleast they should have put a real alternate ending in the movie.
or on the possible killers, it would've been nice too if Jill's mom is a killer, and just have one of the guy characters be her sidekick, then you can put the "jealousy of sidney's fame" in and wanted it for jill, plotting a similar killing spree, making jill the only survivor, and completely innocent. I honestly just don't want Jill to be the killer because you can see in the film how much Sidney loves her. it would be nice for them to actually be good to each other...
nah, in my case, I will keep the theatrical ending but just have a different killers. I think it'll be good to have Judy Hicks and Adam Brody's character be the killers, I mean, hicks is so obsessed with dewey and that "sidney forgot me" scene could be her motive, and have adam brody as a sidekick to lure out the police, and could've done this to up his level in the force.
If that were the real ending, I think the spectators would think that Sidney were really dead, but at the beginning of Scream 5, that begin with the end of the 4, and then we see "1 years later", and a new GF come back...
This would have ultimately been a better ending for a continuation through a sequel like what @checkmarkedprod said, but I also really love the hospital scene - it's the closest you get to some Sidney/Dewey/Gale action! But the movie was great either way, interested to know what they have planned for the next.
It's a good edit. But if you add an even more ominous note or score at the moment when the scene is cut out to the credits, it will be even more effective.
i would have loved if they ended it that way.. i feel like it would have redeemed some of the stupidity of the movie and with the extra time they could have had without the other ending they could have developed the characters a little more. And then in Scream 5 you could find out Sidney was alive but has no memory of what happened or something and then you could see Jill plotting her own sequel and kind of see into the mind of the killer or something,
@MrScream19962011 my guess will be what happened in the hospital will be the start of scream 5. having the DVD and the extended ending, it's pretty clear that they planned to keep the trio alive, and jill dead and not get away with it.

In Scream 5 everyone thinks Sidney is dead but she's alive and will become the Ghost Face Killer and she will hunt down Jill and try and kill her.
