If I was your neighbour, I'd be screaming. The over spray blowing onto and into my house would drive me mad! Good on ya for having a go, but man, not in a backyard!
@CaseyMcLaughalot And I agree, I just don't know so many are coming on here and talking smack about this dude's car, he knows what he is doing, and I am sure he knows what he is doing is by no means the correct way to paint a car.
You really don`t have the vaguest idea how the real world operates.
The "bottom line "is the cost of producing (any ) product plus profits.
The chain of costs is the same.It applies to everything that sustains you ,from the shoes you put on your feet each day , to the food you stuff into YOUR ignorant mouth during breakfast , lunch , and dinner.
DDixon : You said : ( quote ) Painters are getting scared because people have realized a 10,000 paint job is only 250 dollars in material and the rest is the painters profit! ( quote)
That is simplistic and incorrect , to say the least.
Factor in the expenses of running a professional business : lease , tax , equipment , maintenance , depreciation , wages , advertising , insurance,
and you will quickly see how silly your comment really is.
@victorthevector actually who gives a shit that YOU are being gangraped by the powers that be to run your business. At the end of the day, a $4000 paint job is still around $300 bottom line. Which is why many people are driving around with DO It AT HOME paint jobs, and even lower budgeted Rustoleum jobs. Coming soon to a stop sign near you!
The reason a professional paint job is so expensive , many hours of prep. work is required. It is extremely labor intensive. Not everyone can afford this.
The car should really be disassembled as much as possible , after removal of any dents , small imperfections and so on.I have done a lot of this work , for many years.A good paint job will always cost serious money.
Having said that , good for you for giving it a go.Some excellent work has been done by non professionals.
Theres Nothing Wrong With How He Painting His Car As Long As The Conditions Are Right Should Turn Out To Be A Flawless Job as long as he takes The Right Steps As I Have Been Painting Cars For Years Me Personally Would Use A Shed But Not All Of Us Are Blessed With that Not Only That It Good Practice For All You Haters Out There You Can Spend Your 10 odd grand To Paint Or For 250-500$ Can Get Same Results
great set of vids. as to the haters, stick the sprayer up your ass and pull the trigger. many of us would rather do the job ourselves than have you "professionals" ream us up the ass with your high labor cost and low quality sh!t job
im not going to comment on the paint job i've done my truck outside and it turned out perfect but i gota ask y didnt you center your hood scoop and put bondo around the edge to blend it into the hood??
Agreed with Geektar. Its terrible to paint a car like this, but ive seen some outside finishes that look great, it all depends on the skill of the painter really.
or he could of made a ghetto temporary paint booth. go to home depot get some 6 foot 2x4's, then cut some clear trash bags and tape them together. cake. add a fan so you dont die of fumes.
Everyone know knows how to paint a car knows that painting a car outside is the worst possible way. First of all think of all the dirt that floats around... and yet he still continues to paint over it. This is a shitty way to paint your car.
I agree! I work in auto body and I tried ones and it was really hard but I'm still painting my whole car next week :) and thats why I'm watching this video so I can learn some of the stuff. Maybe I take a video so u guys can see what I did to my Lancer OZ Rally 03. After its finished I will probably sell it for like $3,000
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
kinda dumb to put a light grey primer on it first you should go for a darker colour like black or dark grey then red comes out more nicely..and more pressure so you can paint faster.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with painting a car outside. I would understand everybody ranting if he was painting a 1967 GTO. As long as he is not trying to get a show room job it will turn out fine. He probably is using single stage paint and plans on cutting and posishing it later. I have done it outside early in the AM no wind no bugs with decent results.
i can only imagine how the end result is going to look. paint runs. dirt and water in the paint. half prob dried faster than the other half cause of the sun. see ive seen people paint their cars in random garages. but atleast they plastic wrapped the whole thing and cleaned the hell out of it. but this WTF!!!!!!!
you can do it like that but it all really depends on the sanding and primer your base,.... but your are half right about sun dirt and all that,...... only half right
ya im not much of a guy who can paint. im better with engines and really any mechanical work. but this is something i do know. for the best results the area around has to be very clean and closed off. not dirt dust or anything should be there
yeah dirt and moisture kill paint jobs nasty style i did paint applications in my 92 grand-ma Sport dition coupe and i didnt dry the dash and center concole good nuff so i had to sand it and do it all over again
@lcplic but still. if your going to pour tons of money into building the car why not make it look nice. im not trying to knock the guy for painting. i cant paint for shit to tell you the truth. but i just dont get why out side
This blows my college certification out the window! Hmm.....maybe the earth worms won't grow with 2 heads around there. Hope he has grinder for the paint runs....geez!
good job man. Real painters paint anywhere , the booth, garage, outside , with paint guns , spray cans, maybe a hose and windex bottle, it don't matter just as the finish looks good
I gonna wear a mask to protect my lungs...Fuck the ozone, my lungs are more important. And yeah, when he's going down the track, you could think he could go faster if he didn't have 50 pounds of dirt, leaves, grass and bird shit in his paint.
this dudes retarded but i'll admit he took on a challenge and it looks like he was practicing I bet there is a shitload of runs in this car because he was painting slowly and extreamly clos. try using more coats next time and it will come out much better
Usually painting is done top to bottom : A good distance between car and spray gun is usually kept, you seem very close, did the paint run? :
You never start or end spraying on the car itself to avoid surplus of paint : Finally I suppose you must have some insects burried in your paint by now. Best to paint at home is to use a garage and wet the floor first to avoid any dust flying
My kinda people..use a fine roller the next time and save the planet..acrylic enamel with med reducer to allow the paint to level works well..and put in a can of hardener to lock in a gloss.JC
Hey....I know this guy. This car is a race car.....NOT A SHOW CAR!!!! When this car is covered with stickers and go's down the track in 10 secs.......You will be talking about how fast it is.....not about the paint Jimmy D.
