How do you know the aliens will have genetic material? From what I hear, self-replicating machines are better at exploration.
Aliens are possible (Drake's equation), but do yourself a favour and suspend judgment until sufficient evidence is available.
Check out SETI for real data, most people making claims have books they need to sell.
