hate comes with the package of being an amazing artist. IT doesn't matter if it is fashion, music, visual art, etc. The fact is all of them deep down know that this great talent will not be possessed by any of these haters and there comes the hate.
Ugly clothes, frightening man-ish female models, one of them walked like a monkey and kept flipping off the audience. Don't know what the hell her deal was.
@redTalonsss Its called fashion darling its an art expressed in many different ways the fashion show is not just about the clothes there is an self expression on the artist and how he wanted his collection to look like.
@mohammadun Well, If the the models didn't show any breast the models would be a little unwomanly. Mcqueen wanted to show the world what real women looked like. Stop hating.
Is this the Highland Rape collection? Seeing the whole collection makes so much more sense than just the little lace bits they usually show from it... He seems to be showing off Chav culture and style as one of the ugly consequences of England's destruction of Scottish culture, mixed with the torn clothing signifying the actual actual 'rape' of Scotland by the English. Love seeing it as a whole, thanks for posting this.
take away all the punk references and stupid hair and antics and most of the clothes are just sharply tailored normal clothes- the peekaboo stuff is just for runway. Its interesting how much influence Tom Ford took from him at Gucci.
Five years old at the time, totally unaware of fashion. I was properly introduced to it, some channel showcasing fashion shows at the age of twelve. Today,at least I have a good enough taste of it every now and then. Did anyone catch the worms?
@DrBCorwen the ones in that that models clear bustier? yea. The fashion alexander mcqqueen did then makes the fashion other brands make now look so uninspired. who else but mcqueen would have the creativity and grit to make a live-worm bustier?
@madonna2285 I only noticed the worms, thanks to some photos on the internet about a museusm set-up of his work before coming across here. And compared to most of the fashion at the time about McQueen having more umph, it's both rather discouraging and it's agreeable that he sets himself apart. If I remember correctly, Lagerfeld attempted something quite daring with one of his collections in the fifties--very low cut necks and baring lots of skin. I rememer one of the female guests passing out.
I love how you get small tastes of different genres/styles/inspirations in this one collection that developed on throughout his career (gender, sexuality and feminity). It's almost as if he wanted to get it all out in one collection to later go back and expand on each small inspiring piece and develop them.
It's great to see his early shows! His shows always translated particular emotions on such a natural and honest level. I think that's what set him apart from other designers. With McQueen out of the picture, I find it hard to care about fashion these days.
i love how mcqueen gave so much character and freedom to his models, they come alive and seem like characters you'd meet in some fantasy series or on the street, rather than dead aliens that just pace back and forth...
Good point..thats exactly what i was thinking... I also love how 'raw' the shows where at this period...much more exciting with a more 'real' energy...
@McQueenFashion Way to be a McQueen newbie. Stuff like this DEFINES McQueen. There's way more to him than Plato's Atlantis, which was not his best one AT ALL.

Alexander McQueen was one of, if not the best designer that ever lived, exalted to both the art world and the fashion world.
SO YOU ALL BETTER GET SOME DAMN RESPECT <3
