  • Saw this tour 12/1973, best ever.

  • FUCK COMIC SANS!!

  • I've always felt this song was a warning to all haters and doubters, and a prayer to the Infinite. And that mid-song solo is straight from God. Spellbinding music.

  • i've always thought he should have expanded this another 40 seconds or so and released it as a single. one of his best ever, and one of the best guitar breaks he's ever played.

  • ...and all the people sit and wonder, if the Lord will wash their sins away...pure poetry

  • Only problem with this song is it's too short....this would have been a great chance for Carlos to put in some of his famous solo guitar. Love the album, though, I think I have it somewhere in the house.....

  • @keyboardJoe61 The solo is taken by Neal Schon, at the time of the recording he was 17 years old.

He went on great things with Journey . .

  • @keyboardJoe61 But one great thing about the first side of the album is that each track is joined and so like one long track of which this track is a kind of section

  • what happen to parts 1 through 6 that used to be on youtube?

  • @thekenfig good music never ages with time. good music is here to stay .different generations can listen and appreciate it if they give it time and attention.

  • @yaminovitchable Yes that's true, it's timeless is this and I enjoy it as much now if not more as there is the extra emotion of nostalga and good memories of the time associated with it. I have many different types of great music from the last 50 years in my collection, whether it's rock, prog, folk, blues, pop, jazz or experimental ; I love it all. Also the subsequent Santana album to this we have too, called 'Welcome' , 1973. That is a great one !

  • the album is a real masterpiece!

  • @yaminovitchable Yeah, damn right it is ; my brother bought it in 1972 & now I listen to it regularly on cd

  • Pitty Santana don't do songs as great as this one anymore. Nowadays, santana doea all that 'Maria Maria' and 'Smooth' rubbish! RIP good music.

  • @carlosdevadip Well said. There is one good song on that album tho, Primavera. That song recalls the original spirit of the original Santana band.

  • @key2kingdom ... I'm thinkin' that this is actually you Carlos ... if it is ... I simply want to tell you of the wondrous effects your music has had upon me and so many others. Santana was my first concert in 1970 in Baltimore.

  • @garyn1953 I'm not Carlos Dude, but your comment made me smile, thank you! Check out my channel if you like, I've covered some of Santana's stuff there :o)

    luv from London

  • 666yellowdog. M.Santana may be a briliant musician/composer but I was unaware that he was a Bodhhisatva let alone a buddh!

  • This is one of my favorite albums by Santana!!!

  • BUDDHA; JUST IN TIME TO SEE THE SUN; BEAUTIFUL COMPOSISTIONS  FOM ANTONIO CARLOS JOBIM. BUDDHA;

  • Great song. I picked this album up in 1975 and was holding something like air and water combined. It didn't fit with the tunes of the time well. Some spirituality to it. Cosmic.

  • A truly great album and collection of music!!!!

  • This recording my all time favorite. Caravanserai.........healing powers....

  • An absolute masterpiece that I've loved since it came out. It doesn't get any better than this. Santana blends colors and styles effortlessly. And that solo in the middle has depth and purpose.

  • My favorite Santana album, My favorite Santana lead solo.. Perfection.

  • without doubt the best album Carlos made; it's 40 years old and sounds just as brilliant now as it did then.

  • I wish this song never ends

  • I saw him perform this entire album in concert on a cold, windy, snowy night in Ohio...one of the most memorable concerts I ever attended...

  • @PapaMurphey1 I too saw this in the winter in South Bend @ the Notre Dame ACC. Never will get it outta my head. Peace

  • too much guys , wonderful!!!!!!!!!

  • A caravanserai or khan (Persian: كاروانسرا kārvānsarā, Turkish: kervansaray) is roadside inn where travelers could rest and recover from the day's journey. Caravanserais supported the flow of commerce, information, and people across the network of trade routes covering Asia, North Africa, and South-Eastern Europe, especially along the Silk Road.

  • Was this the best thing Carlos ever did. I suppose idiots like me can reflect and propose such a notion,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,one thing I know its better than Slade!!

  • just in time ... time to see the sun i love this album

  • I love this album,thanks for posting!

  • The late, great Leon Thomas covers this gem beautifully on one of his solo cds. Well worth the listen, his vocals are made for this tune...Trumpet and soprano sax share lead licks throughout this awesome rendition...RIP...

  • Amazing track , full of tension but very uplifting. 'Caranserai' is a superb album.- showing how Santana's Latin Rock sound was getting influenced by Pharoah Sanders and John Coltrane.

  • Some bad person has removed a great live version of this song !

  • esse som iluminou meu caminho na vida, que belo som, salve caravanserai ,q bom q te escutei Carlos ,esses tijolinhos nos constroem e nos fazem melhores

  • i've always loved this, but haven't heard it in 30 yrs. thanks for posting.

  • the GREATEST album that year!!

  • listen to no-one but 69MC97gc...that guy knows what hes talkin about...rest of you guys get over it ...just listen to good toons...

  • Carlos and Gregg share the verses. I'm not sure about the guitar riffs because Neal tried so hard to follow Carlos back then, but, still had his own sound.

  • Neal Schon's best solo with Santana.

  • Actually Carlos,not Neal.Vocals also Carlos.

  • The solo halfway thru the song is definitely Neal. The solo at the end flowing into Song of the Wind is Carlos.

  • Great symbolical song reminding the caravan......

also great bass finale just before "song of the wind"

  • I remember my beloved father, he went to heaven because we will soon .. there is no fear that life is an eternal caravan rencarnaciòn

  • I agree with all the comments here. This is a landmark album. It;'s as good as Dark Side... Abbey Road, Electric Ladyland. You KNOW Jimi would have hooked up with Carlos and made some of the greatest music ever.

  • they are all great albums, but you shouldn't compare Caravanserai with those albums. you're missing the point, this is a hole new genre, its not rock. you should compare this album with fusion masterpiece like Bitches Brew. you can't define Caravanserai as a rock album. its an INSULT. you should compare Santana with bands like Mahavishnu Orchestra, Return to forever or Wheather Report . at least for this years.

  • agreed and well said! this album definitely marks a shift in his musicology

    LL

    MT

  • This makes me think of travelling on a highway while the sun is going up...

  • This is the "Abby Road" and "Exile on Main Street" for diamond Carlos Santana.

It does not get any cooler than this; he makes the guiter "cry " a joyful wale on the following song; please listen to him connect with the heavens.

  • Neal Schon played the solo on this.

  • mmm, just re-listened. Santana plays the short solo at the end, flowing into 'song of the wind', Neal Schon took the solo halfway through the song (his best solo with the Santana band).

  • One of my all time favourite. Music doesn't get any better than this! The album as a whole is at the top next to such masterpieces as Dark side of the moon and love over gold.

  • Does anyone have an idea what the bassist playing here, Doug Rauch, died of?

  • this along with, song of the wind is simply as good as it gets!

  • Greg Rolie's voice with Santana's guitar mixed so , so well!!!

  • what an intro... :)

this album should be the soundtrack for the new GHOST RIDER movie, no not Mr Cage but Mr Patrick Furstenhoff!

Driving album if ever there was one!

Other music should be judged against this though nothing will ever beat it for me!

  • great, made me go in the storage room and dig out that LP... thx, man... :)

  • couldn't agrre with you more!!!!

  • Doesn't get any better then this .I was in high school when I picked up the album. a different time a different era. As far as s rock it never got any better then this (in my opinion) and it never will. The magical moment in time along with it's mold was shattered in to many pieces to be put back together. We are all lucky to be blessed with this timeless masterpiece of an album.

  • @stevedubintennis

Excellent summation of this Complete Masterpiece, after almost 40 yrs of listening, i have never tired of listening to it, and never will.

  • @stevedubintennis i couldn't of said this better myself ~ your words ring true for me too! many thanks to you !

  • @stevedubintennis - Well said.

  • farout man

  • "the song" that´s it!!!!

  • This might just be the greatest song ever!

I'm 24 now and it reminds me of being a kid drivin in out old landrover defender along the coast or in france on holiday...

thats my safe place if i ever had one!

  • If you like this song...you must purchase the Caravanseri CD!! You'll love it!

  • henrymarkstewart10: You and your Dad have good tastes!!LOL! I'll go check out your website...thanks for the tip.

  • this type of music is my favourite but you'll see on my homepage that my playlists are quite diverse (bit of an understatement that!)... all kinds

    trance

    dance

    pop

    indy

    classical

    homepage/ playlists still under construction

  • this song, as well as the entire album, brings back beautiful memories and awakenings. this cd tells a wonderful story - magical, spiritual. i would have loved to have seen this live. unfortunately not a single song from this lp will ever be heard on radio airwaves, at least not in the u.s. - it isn't "mainstream" enough.

  • reykingx: You took the words right out of my mouth (soul)...this album, is one of the most influential in my life. I listened to it so much that friends would buy me a new copy every year because they knew I either wore it out, or gave it away. I can't tell you how many people I've turned on to this album (CD?). Later.

  • about 15 years ago this album was played here in dallas texas at the great KNON 89.3 FM, a community station, they play everything there from the dead to zydeco to native american to reggae, to country, to heavy metal, about the first 5 tracks were played and then we switched over to the great 'lotus" album~

  • A great album. Santana's best. Just wonderful.

  • urobore.

This is the coolest album to listen to.

    Thanks

  • Super!

  • I loved this entire album!!!

  • Had this Lp back in the 1970's. Always felt it was one of Santana's best.

  • I also feel that this Lp is still one of Carlos Santana's best!

  • without a doubt....how are you my friend?

  • Mate, whoever you are, thanks for posting this album on youtube.

  • Could someone by so kind to put "la fuente del ritmo" on YouTube. I don't know how to do it myself, this is to my opinion one of the pinnacles of Caravanserai. Thanx!

  • that was a wicked track, it still humms in my head to this day!

  • This is a masterpiece.

The solo is probably my favorite.

Lyrically, this song is profound. It deals with haters (envious, devious and jealous people). Check it out.

    Viva Santana!

  • this is a great album...most people weren't following Santana at this time...

  • I was following Santana in those days. De first 4 albums are the best! Especially Caravanserai is the pinnacle!!

  • yes and the albums "Welcome" & "Borbaletta" are great

  • My grandma would be 102 today, she was an extraordinary person, a yogi and a great fan of arts and music in particular.

I found this beautiful LP in her place so many years ago when I didn't even suspect Santana was a musician ... she left me more than something!

  • its a gift that keeps on giving~

  • The Sun can answer all the questions.

I'm playing with the sun like a kid.

And I can stare straight into the sun.

  • awesome song

  • I was introduced to Satana as a VERY young child by my parents - in fact was probably even hearing it in the womb. The sound is always amazing, though on the whole my favorites come from their earlier stuff (69 - 76). This is no exception.

  • So have I! My mom had been playing Moonflower on the phonograph for me since I was 3.

  • This album is almost an adventure that takes you along the silkroute.

  • yes!!that's it!!

  • no the solos are c santana besides the sound and style of play is obvious

  • Caravanserai Forever!!

  • Isn't that solo played by a very young Neil shon?BTW. The best Santana album EVER!!!

  • good singer

  • You mean: good singers! Here are Carlos and Gregg singing, after each other, listen well and you'll discover!

  • That's right!

  • It is actually Carlos who sings all the songs on Caravanserai.Live back in 1972 Carlos and James "Mingo" Lewis used to share the vocals.believe me.I was there.

  • A Masterpiece.

And that enchanting, middle eastern guitar solo speaks volumes. I've loved this tune since I first heard it as a high school freshman in '72. What a special musician, is Carlos Santana.

    Amazing.

  • i love this cool jazzy rock song one of my all time favorites
