  • I am experienced in playing and coaching Baseball and T Ball. I played for Australia for 5 years and have coached TBall for 7 I have been taught this gripping method and therefore have taught the same to my teams I find it works and inhances a batters swing and obvious hit. With kids 4-9 it is the easiest drill for them on handling a bat and it is the correct method. I know that Hermida and Rodriguez both grip the bat in this way still and both are excellent comfortable hitters.

  • Lining up the knuckles has been the accepted way for children to hold the bat for years, the index finger pointing method is an even simpler way for kids to line up the knuckles. My own son had a hitch in in swing and when we employed this method, he was able to turn over his hands correctly and develop a proper swing with a quick snap. We highly recommend this method for 4 - 9 year olds. As kids mature, they may find other methods that work for them, but were at the basic level here.
