  • COPY that!!!!:DDD

  • Thanks! !

  • I LOVE PAINTING!! I live for my colours and brushes!! I'm still a young painter but I'm happy there r people from who I can ''steal'' some tricks ;))

    btw. It looks awesome :DD

  • What shade of blue did you mix with the white?

    p.s looks amazing!

  • @ssyndy1989 Actually, I used two blues. The first thing I did was coat a canvas with black gesso and let it dry. Once dry, I coated the canvas with a thin, even coat of clear oil painting medium. Over the medium I immediately painted a thin, even coat of Prussian Blue. Then with a mix of white and Pthalo Blue and a touch or two of medium I painted the waterfall and cascades.

  • @DarrellCrowStudioes very nice and your VOICE and teaching is so GOOD

  • @DarrellCrowStudioes I love Pthalo Blue for skies and mixing with other colours, but I thought Prussian was another name for Pthalo! Really liked your video because I have always had trouble with water. Adding to playlist!

  • como lo traduzco al español

  • @vanessagomezist I have this in Spanish subtitles. In fact, my entire DVD Series of 9 DVDs on the Basic Techniques of Oil Painting is available with Spanish subtitles.

  • Great video, thanks. And you're not corny at all. It's very fun and relaxing actually. You're humor makes it enjoyable to watch. Plus we all know we secretly make those sounds too. Lol

  • Bob Ross videos really put me off guard for this. Soothing, chilled, and then

    ONE OF THE MOST EXITING-mute.

You almost gave me a damn heart attack.

  • @TheWalkingFail Everyone of us hope you recover and paint your socks off!

  • What kind of paint do you use? by the way, your video's are amazing :D

  • @Twilight4Real I use various brands and they include Martin F. Weber, Chroma, Alexander, Winsor-Newton, and Grumbacher are the primary brands. I purchase my paints at a wholesale on-line distributor, eBay or a local art store offering discounts/special. I've also purchased from on-line stores like Dick Blicks, Cheap Joe's Orange, etc... Check out link art supply page on my website

  • Why go school!

  • I came here from a Bob Ross vid and I almost had a heart attack.

  • I like the sounds you make when you paint the cascades and waterfalls... TCHOOM! Plus, the video's really cool. :)

  • If I have an art teacher like you, life would be easier :D

  • will this work as good with acrylic as it does with oil?

  • what brand are the oil paints you use and where do you get them from ??

  • Thank you for sharing! I've learned so much!

  • @ladymusic14 You're welcome. Glad you like the lesson.

  • BEST TUTORIAL EVER!

  • @LACEandSHOES Wow! Thanks.

  • I thank you for this video, master o.o :D

  • @SaphirCookie We'll be coming out with even more videos over the next few months.

  • I wish more people on this earth were as enthusiastic as you. Plus you're super talented.

  • @sabrinarox247 Thanks, glad you liked the lessons.

  • :O

  • What does a medium do? What one do you use? Also how long does it take to dry? (Sorryy i have so many questons!)

  • @AnimalCrossingsACCF Medium has two purposes 1. It helps the paints to spread smoothly onto a canvas AND it helps colors blend together well. Medium is typically made of linseed oil and turp, but each manufacturer has their own recipes and many offer mediums for oils, acrylics, water colors, water-mixable oils, etc....I think you're asking how long does an oil painting take to dry. This depends upon humidity, but 2 weeks to month is common.

  • you are such a great artist! I love to watch how you do this painting, Love it! Thank you very much again,

  • @SuperBigmeal Thank you for your kind words.

  • Thats is highly soothing paint work....maybe you can show how it is to blend with god that you can show the world with your painting....

  • @rvraven Thank you for your kindness.

  • This is REALLY good! :)

    Thank-you so much!

    I hope I can do it! :)

but can I use this technique with Acrylic?!

Because that's the paint I use!

  • @joejonas0209 On my YouTube channel I also have 8 films on acrylic painting techniques that show you exactly how to paint my oil lessons on water with acrylics. Be sure to watch them. You'll see some differences due to the nature of oils vs acrylics, but the techniques are basically the same.

  • @DarrellCrowStudioes Okay i'll watch them!

    Thank-you so much ! :)

  • are you god?

  • @TheJack4real I am not God, I am a Christian.. I try to be a good person and share what I know. I do ask God for guidance each day and spend lots of time talking to God.

  • muy buena tecnica, super sencilla y accesible...gracias.

  • @anacuba7 Sí, es una técnica fácil y asequible. Me gusta este estilo de pintura mucho. ¿Cuánto tiempo ha estado pintando.

  • thank you so much for teaching me, but i am just wondering may i use water coulor to paint this? my water fall looks not good, becasue i am a starter

  • @SuperBigmeal I know very little about watercolor4s. You may want to check for Jessie Martin on Facebook or Youtube. He's the greatest water colorist I know.

  • thank you so much for teaching me, you are great teacher!

  • @SuperBigmeal Thank you.

  • vid...the fan brush is more for blending, pulling colors down, and smoothing the color on the painting...he's using it with color in the middle, edges tipped with white...pulling it in a straight line, then pulling down to drag the color. just remember, it's more for blending than anything...

  • there is ox gall you can add to acrylic paint, but not to oils, and try using a soft hair hake brush, after several coats...to cover white, it's hard to get the dark blue, so do a coat, dry, do another...etc.

Also try reversing your strokes, vertical, then horizontal, etc...hope this helps...

  • Hey, I am just starting painting and am using acrylic paint I tried the lake trick and it didn't quite work is there something I can add to the paint to make it brush more smoothly :)

Thanks for the awesome video though I skipped so many learning lessons from this one video

  • i am having problem while painting with fan brush..could you please tell me..what type of color should i use with this brush and how to use it..please answer me as soon as possible...

  • THIS IS GREAT!!! CAN YOU TEACH US HOW TO PAINT A WINE GLASS WITH A BOTTEL OF WINE!!

  • @jesselin10 Sure can.

  • @jesselin10 Sure, but it'll be sometime before I can get to it. I'm finishing up my two books and we're producing 36 hours of film on painting the Colorado countryside. I've posted photos of the paintings on my blog and facebook, twitter sites

  • @DarrellCrowStudioes

My gosh i love your video, the way your explain it is just perfect and i love the humor in you voice!!

  • @HelpResponds Thank you......my wife thinks I'm corny.....good to know someone else out there has the same strange humor as I.....

  • Aaah, my ears. Looks nice, gonna try!

  • wow ! special ^^

  • he is my new favorite artist

  • i like sound effect, busshhhhhhh cheeeshhhhh :D

but anyway thank you, it helped me a lot

  • What did u put on your brush

  • come all the way, and then CHUUUM!

  • This voice does not sound HAPPY!!! he needs a happy VOICE

  • the sound it's horrible!

  • what a delightful foam pattern that makes... lol

  • oh wow i like ur painting the water

  • the voice!!!!!

  • Dat was een supermooie waterval, maar ik was voorbereid op de stem van Bob Ross, ik word altijd helemaal kalm van hem... mooie tekening maar ik deed m'n geluid uit :)

  • WHACKY INFLATABLE ARM MAN! WHACK INFLATABLE ARM MAN!

    ARE YOU LISTENING?

    LOOK I'M PAINTING!!

  • will this work with acrylic paint?

  • @dtkungfu Yes, this technique can be used with acrylics, oils and water mixable oils

  • @dtkungfu I was just going to ask the same:)

  • Did you paint the canvas black?

  • It's an awesome turorial :) But the sound is very bad :(

  • Bring it to the side of the stream and then swshhh. LOL :)

  • @AllLovesMetal Blanco y azul :)

  • when you use the 2 inch brush at 1.42 is it wet or it can work with a dry one too?

  • @moonshinetears It can work with a dry one as well.

  • he,s a good painter

  • brilliand...

  • What type of brush are you using, it's really Flat.

  • @346lovely I think it's called a fan brush :)

  • @346lovely I used a #3 Fan brush to paint the waterfall

  • Yes God? You want me to paint waterfalls?!

  • i luv ur vid ur such a fun art teacher can u tell me what paint and brushes ur using how did u get 2 colors of paint on2 one brush im only starting 2 paint again ;)

  • You must have paint in order to paint!

  • so to paint water you can not without those special brushes?

  • I'm sure you've heard this many times from a lot of people, but I would like to mention that your video is not only helpful in learning how to paint waterfalls easily, but also is very entertaining.... especially the sounds you make... I am going to try this myself too :)) with the swisssh sounds ;o)

  • Excellent tutorial and work!

  • Really good,useful, thanks.

  • LOVE THIS!!

  • Thanks for the video, it's great. Do you also have a tutorial on how to paint flames (Fire) using oil colors?

  • I had my headphones all the way up to hear Bob Ross's soft voice. Then I came here and "ONE OF THE MOST EXCITING ELEMENTS WE CAN ADD TO ANY LANDSCAPE PAINTING IS A BEAUTIFUL WATERFALL." \(@_@) /

  • @metroiddude123 Uuuh...

    Thats Darrell Crow.

  • @Papermachemaybe Yeah, but I was expecting Bob Ross. Thought this was one of his videos when I clicked on it.

  • @metroiddude123 oh god I lol'd

  • This is great for a night time scene... but what if you wanted it to be daytime? Would you still use such a dark blue on the canvas? I would think the wet on wet technique would make it hard to paint greenery around the water with such a dark blue already on the canvas? How would you do that without the green mixing in with the blue so much?

  • Definitely have to try this... thanks. My teacher in college was an amazing painter but he never taught us anything but blending. I don't think he knew how to teach because every time we asked, he said, "I can't teach you, you just have to know as you do it." =P~~~

  • Thank you so much for this video! I am painting my first wall mural (my first painting actually - I started big...) and it was time to paint the waterfall. I watched this video twice, went outside to the garden wall and kept saying to myself, "Be fearless! Copy what you just saw... keep the strokes light... " In short, my waterfall turned out to be one big waterfall and lots of little ones over rocks just like you demonstrated. It turned out fabulous! Thank you!

  • That was amazing!!!!!!!!! thank you so much

  • you're no Bob Ross... ha

    thanks man!

  • I love your personality and sound affects you are my soulmate

  • @gloryboxmusic stop complaining, screw the sound, he is amazing, no matter what mic he uses.

  • @omgitsbrooke he is, but the sound is hurting my ears :P

  • Awesome! I'm gonna try this .

  • 0.00 - 0.57 . "Ahh right I'm guessing this will take some time. "

0.58 . "Wooo no it wont."

  • hi im just wondering, if you dont have a fan brush, can u use other brushes??

  • I have a newbie question... do you put the liquid clear on AFTER you do the back background? Do you let it dry before painting the scene? and is this because when acrylics dry it doesn't blend well without primer?

  • you dont know me but...

I FRIGGING LOVE YOU ALREADY~! (on a student - teacher basis) CUZ U JUST SOUND SO AMAZING AS A TEACHER! Oh how I wish I had you as a teacher... Oh w8, u already are :D THX FOR THE VIDEOS!

  • So beautiful!!! My sister just got some acrylic paints and I want to try to paint as well. Ive never paint before but im sure with your videos ill learn in no time. Thank you so much :)

  • I can't wait to try this! It's so simple yet looks so beautiful. It will be a great addition to the painting I'm currently working on though I use acrylics and not oils. Thanks so much for posting these tutorials they're really helpful (I've never taken art as a subject so all these different techniques are new to me)

  • there is a man on the radio on a local station were im from that announces the deals for hy-vee food store and you sound like him lol...great job the vid helped me alot

  • ya iwanna know did you paint your canvas black or, or you've used a black canvas?

    i love your teaching Techniques

  • Do i need a black canvas to paint a waterfall, or can i use a white one, i have searched and i don't see a video with someone painting a waterfall in a white canvas.

  • How do you clean your brush so fast, i am a beginner and dont have anything to clean my brushes, what do you use to clean yours?

  • Everytime i try this my waterfall turns into a blur. Do you know what I am doing wrong?

  • @jasperbox90 Could be several things. Most common is too much pressure. Does the waterfall blur when you put in the base color, or when you highlight?

If highlighting remember its just a like stroke. Almost like you're caressing a loved one's cheek without trying to put any pressure on it.

  • @jasperbox90 maybe try to use less paint on your brush :) hope that helps

  • I dig your waterfall sounds. :D Thanks so much for your help and I love your videos!

  • this is so helpful ill try this right now! yeah! thank you so much teacher

  • very funny that your making sounds, and this helps very munch, thank you for your video

  • @ElenaSaxena I findd it truly helps to make the sounds for those tough things to paint. It becomes and before you know it, you're painting beautiful waterfalls. Keep racticing.

  • I really like this and can't wait to try it out thanks

  • @tigerfrog69 Great. Send me a photo of your work. I'd like to see how you're doing.

  • this is so good, such simple techniques shown in here are awesome! i wud luv 2 watch all d videos n try d same on my canvas! thnx Darrell!

  • @hinapooja I don't mind. I have 250 2 hour videos on how to paint. That's about 20-30 YouTube clips per video. Can't put them all here, but I certainly can post a few so everyone has a chance to trey landscapes, seascapes, florals, tall ships, PopArt, Still Life, Wildlife, Pets, Portraits, Fantasy, and more. It's litterally a ton of fun doing all of this for you guys.

  • Thanks Darrell your videos are awesome and I can't wait to try out the waterfall effects....thanks so much!!!

  • @enlightened58 Be sure to send me a photo of your work, I'd like to see how you're doing.
