@ssyndy1989 Actually, I used two blues. The first thing I did was coat a canvas with black gesso and let it dry. Once dry, I coated the canvas with a thin, even coat of clear oil painting medium. Over the medium I immediately painted a thin, even coat of Prussian Blue. Then with a mix of white and Pthalo Blue and a touch or two of medium I painted the waterfall and cascades.
@DarrellCrowStudioes I love Pthalo Blue for skies and mixing with other colours, but I thought Prussian was another name for Pthalo! Really liked your video because I have always had trouble with water. Adding to playlist!
@vanessagomezist I have this in Spanish subtitles. In fact, my entire DVD Series of 9 DVDs on the Basic Techniques of Oil Painting is available with Spanish subtitles.

@AnimalCrossingsACCF Medium has two purposes 1. It helps the paints to spread smoothly onto a canvas AND it helps colors blend together well. Medium is typically made of linseed oil and turp, but each manufacturer has their own recipes and many offer mediums for oils, acrylics, water colors, water-mixable oils, etc....I think you're asking how long does an oil painting take to dry. This depends upon humidity, but 2 weeks to month is common.
@joejonas0209 On my YouTube channel I also have 8 films on acrylic painting techniques that show you exactly how to paint my oil lessons on water with acrylics. Be sure to watch them. You'll see some differences due to the nature of oils vs acrylics, but the techniques are basically the same.
@TheJack4real I am not God, I am a Christian.. I try to be a good person and share what I know. I do ask God for guidance each day and spend lots of time talking to God.
@SuperBigmeal I know very little about watercolor4s. You may want to check for Jessie Martin on Facebook or Youtube. He's the greatest water colorist I know.
vid...the fan brush is more for blending, pulling colors down, and smoothing the color on the painting...he's using it with color in the middle, edges tipped with white...pulling it in a straight line, then pulling down to drag the color. just remember, it's more for blending than anything...
there is ox gall you can add to acrylic paint, but not to oils, and try using a soft hair hake brush, after several coats...to cover white, it's hard to get the dark blue, so do a coat, dry, do another...etc.
Also try reversing your strokes, vertical, then horizontal, etc...hope this helps...
Hey, I am just starting painting and am using acrylic paint I tried the lake trick and it didn't quite work is there something I can add to the paint to make it brush more smoothly :)
Thanks for the awesome video though I skipped so many learning lessons from this one video
i am having problem while painting with fan brush..could you please tell me..what type of color should i use with this brush and how to use it..please answer me as soon as possible...

I'm sure you've heard this many times from a lot of people, but I would like to mention that your video is not only helpful in learning how to paint waterfalls easily, but also is very entertaining.... especially the sounds you make... I am going to try this myself too :)) with the swisssh sounds ;o)
I had my headphones all the way up to hear Bob Ross's soft voice. Then I came here and "ONE OF THE MOST EXCITING ELEMENTS WE CAN ADD TO ANY LANDSCAPE PAINTING IS A BEAUTIFUL WATERFALL." \(@_@) /
This is great for a night time scene... but what if you wanted it to be daytime? Would you still use such a dark blue on the canvas? I would think the wet on wet technique would make it hard to paint greenery around the water with such a dark blue already on the canvas? How would you do that without the green mixing in with the blue so much?
Definitely have to try this... thanks. My teacher in college was an amazing painter but he never taught us anything but blending. I don't think he knew how to teach because every time we asked, he said, "I can't teach you, you just have to know as you do it." =P~~~
Thank you so much for this video! I am painting my first wall mural (my first painting actually - I started big...) and it was time to paint the waterfall. I watched this video twice, went outside to the garden wall and kept saying to myself, "Be fearless! Copy what you just saw... keep the strokes light... " In short, my waterfall turned out to be one big waterfall and lots of little ones over rocks just like you demonstrated. It turned out fabulous! Thank you!
I have a newbie question... do you put the liquid clear on AFTER you do the back background? Do you let it dry before painting the scene? and is this because when acrylics dry it doesn't blend well without primer?
I FRIGGING LOVE YOU ALREADY~! (on a student - teacher basis) CUZ U JUST SOUND SO AMAZING AS A TEACHER! Oh how I wish I had you as a teacher... Oh w8, u already are :D THX FOR THE VIDEOS!
