Nyaaa Neko is very pleased with your video. It has been favorited because Neko likes the music, fits the ambient of both something related to one of our biggest fears, spiders, which is always missinterpreted as darkness, and it fits with the beautiful circle of life...And death. :3
Thanks for the ID. She is still living here on the back porch. I thought the cold weather might have gotten her, but when it warms up she comes out to play.
I dont know what kind of spider this is. So you like spiders too? I like them too although Im afraid to touch and even get near esp. the saucer sized ones. Been doing some research about them and found their ways to be cute.
Hi, yes to answer your question. I like spiders. They are more helpful than harmful in my garden. There are some deadly species, but, the one seen here is quite harmless, I think lol. She is kinda cute!:)
We have hundreds of species of "house" spiders here in North America, whatever species she is, she's harmless to humans. Lots of these spiders live around the house. It's a very old house.lol
I'm sorry.:) There's no reason to fear spiders like this one, this is a harmless house spider. Spiders are pretty cool animals once you get to know them. I admit, I was scared of this one at first.lol
Definitely not a Brown Recluse. That's some kind of Nursery Web spider. There are several varieties of them. Some of them (Like the one in this video) are very similar in appearance Black Widow. In fact they are in the same family. But Nursery Web spiders aren't toxic to humans. Completely harmless.
Thanks for the very interesting info on this spider. She's still hanging out, here on the porch, the cooler weather keeps her out of sight most of the time now.
I figure she's better off left alone to, well, be a spider! I think spiders are pretty cool.
LOL! This one's not in my house, she lives on the back porch, as stated in description. These are HARMLESS house spiders, nothing to fear. They provide me with a sense of security because the house spiders actually hunt and kill the more harmful, and potentially deadly Brown Recluse spiders & Black Widows.
Gee, burning my house down would be rather, stupid. I'd just call an exterminator instead.:)
LOL, it's kinda creepy I guess, but this spider and her nest are both quite harmless. This one is way up high, in the ceiling of my back porch. I enjoy watching her do "nest repair" late at night.
nah i dont think thats a recluse, its too big and like someone said recluses hunt for their food. whatever spider that was i feel sorry for the little bug it caught :P
Well, it's a part of nature. I feel sorry for the prey animals too. Everybody's gotta eat to survive.
I do wish I could identify this spider. Check out the Dairy of a Spider video. I have still photos and some recent video that's at the end of the still shots. You can get a better look at it. She also catches anothr bug in the video.
I have some new video of this spider. I'll be uploading it as soon as I get it reformated. You'll be able to see a little more detail. Check back for it later.
it doesnt look at all like a brown recluse but its deffinitley an awesome spider lol i would guess its more closesly related to a trap door spider because of the style of its web. brown recluses tend to only build small webs because they hunt for their prey
She's way up there, it's hard to get a close shot of her to see for sure. The nest is large and has more than one opening. And she's always "renovating".lol Could be a trap door species.
some are actually ARE BIG. The way to tell whether the bugger's a Recluse is to look at it's eyes. if there are 6 [as in .. .. .. [2 to the left, 2 on the frontal center, and 2 to the right]] If there are 6, BE CAREFUL. if not, Squash it. BUT if it is, if you don't have a camera , SQUASH 'ER ANYWAYS!
This spider has six eyes. I can see that clearly in the still photos. She can live here in peace, as long as she stays out here on the porch. I like spiders. They're much nicer animals than most humans I know.
In the still photos you can see a definite, and almost perfect, violin shaped pattern on it's carapace. I'm not an expert so I don't know what it is. All I know is, it's one BIG spider! What species do you think it is?
I'm not really a spider expert too, but I know it's not a brown recluse because that thing is too big to be one. I've seen them around when I went to the east. The ones I saw had small butts and sort of long legs.
The pictures I find of recluses look like what you discribe. This spider looks too big to be a recluse, but then again, she might just be an unusually large specimen.
ABSOLUTELY NOT a brown recluse!! BUT AN ABSOLUTELY COOL video to have captured this.

good footage.
it looks like a species of house spider; several species build funnel shaped webs such as that.
