  • Just saw this movie and my mouth dropped. Hitchcock was great from the beginning. I like it better as a silent. Thank you for sharing.

  • Golden Silents: Thanks for the feedback. That's not a problem as I have a region free player. Getting a copy is the thing since I don't know how to contact the distributer.

  • @kovik62 Just get it on Amazon

  • I would love to have this on DVD. Is it available?

  • @kovik62 Yes but only on PAL Region 2 from Germany.

  • When I compare this passage from silent version of film "Blackmail" with its talkie equivalent, I found that Any Ondra's partner neither plays the piano nor sings in the silent version. Alfred Hitchcock may have to re-shoot some scenes with the same actors and costumes to take advantage of RCA's Photophone technology which gave sound to this film.

  • I could even lip-read some of the dialogue. I'm not sure that sound added much to this, and i know that Hitch believed in "visual" story-telling.

Ondra was a classy dame. Pity she never made more films in the UK

  • This is fantastic! Where did you find this?

  • @magnusmaluslupus Germany
