Actually, a study on Somalia showed that the country compared quite favourably with 42 other African countries as measured by 13 different variables. It also compared favourably with its own situation prior to 1991. Of course, a decade or two of reduced levels of government in Somalia could not possibly make up for the animism, the tribalism, the underinvestment, and the mistreatment of women that still prevail in much of Africa. But keep on worshiping the state, bud. ;)

I really don´t get these comments. They are what mostly make me sick. How many of you commentators have been sent to the war at that age? How many was too young and maybe vain and saw going to war as his best option to take forward his life? Not many I presume. It is governments responsibility, they are who should be blamed. I don´t have a clue how I would act and / or change if I´d be sent to war field and given guns, fed propaganda and said kill and don´t get killed

If individuals cannot carry themselves honorably in the time of war, this does NOT make the war unjust. "At one point it was OK?" All soldiers that shot innocent people should be prosecuted.

@Li0rE Wow, it doesn't sound like he's bragging at all. Did you not hear what he said? His commanding officer told his patrol squad he would reward those who stabbed targets to death for the first time.
You have to realize there are some fucked up people out there, most likely products of child abuse or a hereditary mental illness, that are so angry they'll do anything to blow off steam.

part of the problem is, i think that in the US soldiers are treated like heroes, no matter what they did.
I spent 6 months there, soldiers are refered to as "Heroes" at every chance.

So... he's pissed at the Marines because he made choices he regrets? He admits that they admitted acted different around news corespondents and killing out of excitement. He admits to do something illegal purely out of anger. He admits to roughing up people after kicking in their doors and terrorizing them at early hours purely because they were there.
How is this at all the fault of the USMC? I only see second guessing of HIS OWN choices. Fuck this guy, and fuck his disrespect for the service.

@rydermlivingston He states that he's done some of them purely out of anger. In a related video when he talks about killing the " Fat Man " he admits that it was his choice to take him out. It's not the fault of the USMC that he took these actions, but his own reacting out of emotional distress and stupidity.

And sure, they joke about how many people they kill over there, still though, he admits to firing into cities to " try out " new weapons.and admits to destroying mosques and homes on their own based upon their own will. This man is a disgrace to the USMC, and he didn't deserve those medals in the first place.

He admits to almost everything being done by his choice of his own will. He's a disgrace to what the uniform that he once wore meant. His service ( I use that term VERY generously ) to the marines isn't what made him the monster he apologizes for being, it was his own immaturity and lack of responsibility.

He was obviously not the only one shooting at the Mosque, so multiple people were. It seems these actions are accepted. So wouldn't the USMC be at fault for condoning these acts? Play the "pass-the-buck" card as much as you'd like, but at least this guy's taking responsibility for his actions with admission. You're hiding behind a computer.
