People are not stupid Wonderbung! The problem is that Toyota cars operate "fly by wire" control systems this means that the physical controls are connected to a computer not via cables. Switching off, selecting neutral has no effect when the computer malfunctions.

@Ristar85 it's not that Toyotas all over the world are OK except for those in the USA, it's that everywhere in the world outside the US, people understand enough basics about how a car, it's engine and gears work to PUT THE DAMNED CAR IN NEUTRAL and disengage the engine. Stuck accelerators don't matter if your car is in neutral. Alternatively, if you pop on your brakes and the parking brake, there is no way that your car will continue to accelerate. These people are idiots.

Why are people so stupid? Shift into neutral, turn the car off, coast to a stop. Toyota should never have recalled their vehicles. It might have been useful to weed some of the morons out of the gene pool before they reproduced.
