The first "Bible" as we understand it, was not assembled until the Council of Nicaea to put together the official canon. The Bible has not changed, only adapting to new languages and such. You can track the entire history of it, century by century, they all say the same thing.

@Lieblingsfachful Actually the first records of the biblical canon as we know it are from 367 AD, over forty years AFTER the Council of Nicaea. The only thing on the list at Nicaea was the relationship between God the Father and God the Son. Jesus' deity had already been established, but his relationship with the Father was still under debate. Trust me on this one, I'm a third year theoloogy student majoring in Church history.

@abukiran The Catholic Church has only one, but Protestants broke off many years ago and their are hundreds of extremely different versions of "Christianity", Puritans being one of them, and keep changing their Bibles.

@Bidmartinlo It has been changed, books have been removed and added, wording changed. But only Protestant and other Bibles, only Catholic Bibles have remained unchanged except in that they have been modernized in language. That's why we Catholics don't view any other Bible other than our own as genuine, and other Protestant or Christian groups don't recognize ours. Its one of the few, if not the only one, with no changes.

@Nickkraw to combat Calvin's 99 thesis the Catholic Church added the apocrypha, until then it had used the same connonised Bible as the protestants. however when John Calvin insisted the Bible did not relate to the church's doctrine a mad dash was made to justify the doctrines rather than admit defeat...as Cliff Whitely would say: WALLOP!

I think that some of your information may be distorted, and in the past several decades the Church (Catholic) has radically transformed and regulated its teachings globally. The Catholic Bible never changed except in translation since the Councils of Carthage and Hippo. Also I apologize but I don't know who Cliff Whitely is.

Funny how they argued about the King James, because it was translated directly from M. Luther german, who used the RK latin as a source. There is much lost in translation, when you just consider the nature of Hebrew.. ("stoning could mean BONING"...joke ha, ha, ha).
