Ron Paul is truly America's last hope. I'm 55 years old, a software engineer for a network security company. I'm doing ok, but I fear for my retirement and for my kids in the tyrannical, dysfunctional state that we are quickly becoming. Loss of freedom and loss of wealth will move us to a slavery and poverty system that I don't want to see. Please people - let's get this man into office in 2012. He tells the truth and has wisdom to do the right things.

This was right up in my neck of the woods. The reality is Ron Paul won't be President anymore than Ross Perot will. Basically we live in a plutocracy where the electoral college of congress and the Supreme Court dictate who is President. There is a small group of people that control the government and have had it all figured out since the Hoover administration. An interesting fact about Congress is the majority of them claim to be Catholic, however the only Catholic President was assassinated.
Our recent Presidents have been from the Methodist Church, both republican and democrat. The plutocracy really doesn't care who is in Congress and demonstrated that with the Viet Nam war. Due to the fact that a very small percentage of the population actually votes for the President I think the only way to encourage voters and prevent public corruption is to have a live election of the President by Congress.
Now that would be a true a republic and would damn well make sure everyone knows who their congressman is. This system could do away with the Senate which promotes the plutocracy and rely on the Supreme Court to pass legislation by congress. At the end of the day what makes sense never happens and what does is the patterns set out before it, which is the rise and fall of empires.
If we keep pushing for a global economy we'll be living in a Chinese democracy living off rice and if the US is ever crippled by war or trade then I fear what happened to Germany in WWII will happen to us, everyone will turn their backs on us and we'll all starve like 9 million German families did. My ancestors left England when their empire was falling and I just may have to follow suit in America.

RP could do better in explaining his idea of eliminating the dept of education. One thing he could point out is that it was only introduced in the 70's and there was plenty of education before that. Another thing would be to explain how a one size fits all approach is ineffective because when mistakes are made, they are made at a national level and when a city or state makes a mistake, it only affects 1 city/state and people would have much more power to address such mistakes. there's so much more Paul can explain. His speaking can be improved a lot. He should explain how the HUD contributed to the housing bubble. Or how Commerce and Energy distort markets and pick winners and losers. All this stuff is lost on people they need him to explain it.

The Constitution doesn't forbid individual states or communities from running schools, it does not, however, permit the feds to do so.
@thamnosma exactly. But Americans unfortunately are stuck in "federal govt do everything" mode...they want a centralized, federalized government to take over every sector of daily life. Same with EPA, environment is a state and local issue not feds. Feds can't even do it properly. Or look at how destructive the FTC, FCC, FDA is to the market. No one knows anything about that. Everyone assumes that every federal agency is necessary and doing a good job. Paul just hasn't done enough explaining.

I know why some might not want to vote for Ron Paul, because he makes you think about what he says, unlike a Romney or Santorum, who just spew out the same talking points that a grade school child could. When Ron Paul wins the nomination, I want him to announce that he has not yet picked his running mate. Instead, he will host a nationally televised debate where he will invite (at a minimum) Rick Perry, Gary Johnson and Dennis Kuzinich to participate, and grill them on their policies and records. After the debate is over there will be American Idol-style voting; Paul will take some time to consider all the facts and then pick one of the three.

How cool is this man? Well, two years ago, I called his office with some questions on the government, and to my surprise, he called me back, twice. He missed me the first time, and had an hour long conversation with my father(who was in the military). My father was blown away. He said to me, I can't believe he called, what a great man. I asked him how long did he talk to you, and my father said, he was in no hurry to get me off the phone. Just an all around nice man.

RP could do better in explaining his idea of eliminating the dept of education. One thing he could point out is that it was only introduced in the 70's and there was plenty of education before that. Another thing would be to explain how a one size fits all approach is ineffective because when mistakes are made, they are made at a national level and when a city or state makes a mistake, it only affects 1 city/state and people would have much more power to address such mistakes. Just a thought

The Constitution doesn't forbid individual states or communities from running schools, it does not, however, permit the feds to do so.

Same with EPA, environment is a state and local issue not feds. Feds can't even do it properly. Or look at how destructive the FTC, FCC, FDA is to the market. No one knows anything about that. Everyone assumes that every federal agency is necessary and doing a good job. Paul just hasn't done enough explaining.

When Ron Paul wins the nomination, I want him to announce that he has not yet picked his running mate. Instead, he will host a nationally televised debate where he will invite (at a minimum) Rick Perry, Gary Johnson and Dennis Kuzinich to participate, and grill them on their policies and records. After the debate is over there will be American Idol-style voting; Paul will take some time to consider all the facts and then pick one of the three.

He missed me the first time, and had an hour long conversation with my father(who was in the military). My father was blown away. He said to me, I can't believe he called, what a great man. The guy is a rock star. The establishment gangs up on him and throws everything they have at him, yet he continues to garner support from the American people. If you watch any sort of major media outlets, you can see a real change in the attitudes of those that used to speak ill of this man. Thank God for Ron Paul.

I would like to say despite the Iranian president's rantings and threats(an expected behavior considering their history, current circumstances and hopes for their future position in the region), the likely hood of them nuking another country would be suicide! And if we are worried about suitcase nukes on American soil, all the more reason to bring all our troops home! Tell these fear/war mongers to have a little humility on the subject, as there is only one country who has nuked civilians!!

@sifrmsctln What I dont get is people worried about them having a nuke? If they really really wanted to blow one up on someone there going to find a way theres like 5 countries out there that go almost unaccounted for in possession of nukes. WHERE DOES IT END? What do people think the next 30-40 years are going to look like with more and more countries becoming more advanced. Its either your for a new war without almost end(with preemptive strikes) Or try something new/old we talked to the USSR?
