These are common to f16,f18 or mig29,su30..these warplanes form the backbones for armed forces of the singapore, indonesia, malaysia and thailand. So, go and get one to join the club - arm race.

Today about 90% of of the Rank and file soldiers of the AFP are college graduate, they need a term until their retirement age. They need to be appointed just like other government workers.

In the 1950's the PAF had state of the art fighter jets supplied by the US. Today PAF flies planes made in Italy that cost too much money because of corruption. These planes can not defend the Spratleys when the other countries in the area decide to take the oil and natural gas from the RP. Sending lawyers from UP and Ateneo to the UN Security Council to argue about violation of RP territory will make Filipinos feel good but woiuld be a waste of time. RP defense is doomed.

To dismiss an Enlisted it only requires the signature of the Commanding Officer. To dismiss the Officer it requires the signature of the President. The PNP has their NAPOLCOM, the government employee has their Civil Service Commission. What about the rank and file of AFP what agency protects them?

@kathen111 Philippines should buy JAS-39 like Thailand JAS-39 Gripen is expensive at first. But if you use JAS-39 Gripen you can save more than using Su-30 or F-16 maintaining F-16C or F-15 or Su-30 can cost maybe $10 million for each plane in a year. so if you have 10 of them its $100 million.. the use of missiles.. and others are not yet included. JAS-39 is easy to maintain.. you can save $2 million maybe in maintenance compared to F-16.. and maybe $3 million compared to Su-30

Hey mga bros. just read n article about US contemplating on leasing a squadron of F16 jets to Philippines and a couple of Frigates to bolster Philippine Border Defense capability. Apparently, US is bothered by CHINA's slowly encroaching on the disputed islands in the South China Sea. it may just be a lease at least it's better than nothing. As long as we don't stop fighting amongst ourselves, i'm afraid modernization will remain illusive. Sad but True

The true fighter jets usually fly at mach 2 and or equipped with devastating fire power like laser guided bombs or oher precision bombs/missiles. These are common to f16,f18 or mig29,su30..these warplanes form the backbones for armed forces of the singapore, indonesia, malaysia and thailand. So, go and get one to join the club - arm race.

PHILIPPINE LAW MAKERS - Amend the NATIONAL DEFENSE ACT 1935. Abolish the 3 years term of Enlistment which was designed before the World War 2. Today about 90% of of the Rank and file soldiers of the AFP are college graduate, they need a term until their retirement age. They need to be appointed just like other government workers.

In the 1950's the PAF had state of the art fighter jets supplied by the US. Today PAF flies planes made in Italy that cost too much money because of corruption. These planes can not defend the Spratleys when the other countries in the area decide to take the oil and natural gas from the RP. Sending lawyers from UP and Ateneo to the UN Security Council to argue about violation of RP territory will make Filipinos feel good but woiuld be a waste of time. RP defense is doomed.

TO THE PHILIPPINE LAW MAKERS - Amend the NATIONAL DEFENSE ACT 1935. Provide a law to protect the Rank and File of AFP, most of them now are college graduate. To dismiss an Enlisted it only requires the signature of the Commanding Officer. To dismiss the Officer it requires the signature of the President. The PNP has their NAPOLCOM, the government employee has their Civil Service Commission. What about the rank and file of AFP what agency protects them?

tama ka, maintenance for jets are too high para mapondohan ng PAF at AFP... Kaya nga biglang natengga mga jets natin eh. haha! Either way, with new gov't, sana ma-address na ito... We need a more hightech, powerful and advanced defense units.. masyado na tayo napagiiwanan.. Isipin mo, pati ang dapat KALAYAAN ONE, the premier aircraft to transport our presidenthas been in service for 30 YEARS!!! since 1980 pa ang Fokker F28 ng Pinas! Kahit un man lang muna ang mapalitan. kawawa tayo sa jet na un!

Philippines was once the very first asian country to obtain jets for it's air force.. too bad back to basics tayo.. Propeller Aircrafts and trainer jets modified para maging aeral combat unit... tsk tsk... We have skilled pilots, dedicated men to serve but stupid equipment for utilization... nasasayang ang mga piloto natin... :(

AFP must acquire a low cost fighter aircraft { A-! condition}, and install it with a very sophisticated missiles / rockets system with high end radar technology..no need to buy a supersonic jet. this is a small country and we are not surrounded with enemy. our diplomatic relationship with other asean country are strong.

Kawawa ang philippine air force ano.. sa bansa kasi natin mas mahalaga sa politiko ang sariling bulsa kaysa sa sariling bansa.. Other countries have modernized their military capabilities.. but in our country its all politics, no benefit for the security of our nation.. We even would want to eliminate the VFA with U.S., not knowing that we are easily prone to opression of other countries.
Stop political corruption and start to Invest for our nation's security.

Hey mga bros. just read n article about US contemplating on leasing a squadron of F16 jets to Philippines and a couple of Frigates to bolster Philippine Border Defense capability. Apparently, US is bothered by CHINA's slowly encroaching on the disputed islands in the South China Sea. it may just be a lease at least it's better than nothing. As long as we don't stop fighting amongst ourselves, i'm afraid modernization will remain illusive. Sad but True
