@Blackseed1978 haha… I know.. I just put it all on a plate for them too… I didn't see anyone else tucking a camera under their shirt like me trying to film the actual DMV lot lol j/k… thx for having my back lol
Duuuude I went today to the same CDL test location in SB! Showed up at around 6:35 am, was 2nd in line before the computers shut down and had to wait around an hour in half , lost my spot in line , and had my turn at 3:30...which by that time they didnt have enough time to get to me for the maneuvers or street test. So I have too re-schedule! GAHHH! But I passed the incab, and pretrip with only 7 wrong! Xp
@tmact13 Sounds like a crazy day haha... I am glad you passed!!! so whats your next move? I should have saved my test results haha.. How did you do with the maneuvers? did you have any deductions? -E
@yourboyethetrucker I had to call the school up and reschedule for another appointment once again where I will take, just the maneuvers and street test! Im pretty confident that ill pass tho...yesterday I saw exactly how NOT strict the instructors are! LOL
@hopland1165 in the beginning I did not know I wanted to roll with swift... I told my truck school "If I was your brother, where would you put me" they gave me Warner (but they rejected my application, due to they wanted me to go through their school and that was money) so the next choice was swift. They took me fast & what helped me to feel settled about them was the Orientation, they were heavy on Safety, being the best in class, Education, Training. Overall just sounded like a good start! -E
@Mongerzz I was told and have always found the longer the trailer is, the easier it is to back. Also, the longer the tractor, the harder it is to back. All of the stations @ my test were adjusted for the OAL of the truck being used. So havine a short trailer w/ a long tractor would have been a nightmare. If you want to try something fun, back a converter dolly with an exhd pete or kw. Want an easy test, use a yard truck or a SWB cabover
I got my cdl with two hours of training. Paid 350 bucks to the guy to drive with. He used an automatic with 28 foot trailer. No restrictions on my license at all. The test consisted of backing in a straight line on an open road with no cones, parallel parking on the same road. No cones used.. Had to drive on an uncrowded access road and on the interstate for about a mile. Test was taken on the outskirts of Fort Worth Texas. Just depends on where you take the test.
@Mongerzz haha when your new and don't know ANYTHING .. it was still confusing haha .. but after rolling with this 53 for a long time.. I would love to go back and take that test and smash it like a pro haha
@Ls7colorado I think it depends on which school your training. I personally trained in a day cab, manual six speed (no double clutch) with a 24 foot trailer. But some schools use flat beds, 53 footers or the 24's like me. Good luck on your journey, just make sure you get some time with the double clutch (most places wanna see some skills ::: but you dont have to be perfect::: ) - E
@Boodieman72 yeah, but in the end its not too bad.. hopefully in Feb I'll be making a video on that topic… once you learn the concepts… you just need to practice them and you will be fine… trust me.. I only had 2 hours on a double clutch before I tested out with swift… and my first time hauling a 53 footer around the block… intimidating YES… do-able YES. you will get it too my friend - E
Man i just passed mine a couple weeks ago i just need the driving test now and my permit expires 11/02/11 so i need to get on it before it expires..can't wait to get it over with..wish me look man!
@realf1rme GOOD LUCK!! :) I am sure your gonna pass bro, just take your time... keep your nerves under control and make sure you watch others and how they approach and set up and stuff like that... so when its your turn you wont need that much instruction... you'll just get in and do it :) Good luck and keep me posted ok - E
@realf1rme haha … yeah bro well its a reality check if your gonna get your experience doing this trucking thing… but let me tell you .. its actually not that bad, seriously all the freeways and hoods look alike.. just follow the GPS, Maps, go slow, don't be afraid to take your time… and you will be fine… the only tough parts seem to be trying not to get caught up in the residential areas. Just embrace the grind bro, you will be good! holler anytime at me ok -E
@divisioneight ... from how they explained it to me... it was "easier" to use the 24 footer. You can see and maneuver better. They thought, if you can get the mechanics of the shorter, than you can learn the 53' no problem... I would have liked practicing on a 53' but in the end it all worked out. My mentor sharpened me up on how to handle the big boy haha
@yourboyethetrucker : Thank you for replying! I appreciate the skills involved in backing a 53' footer into a small loading dock or between a pair of other trucks after 10 hours on the road.
@yourboyethetrucker All my training was done with a 53' trailer. I think a lot of schools use the 24' like you said because its easier. With the 53', I was told if I come closer than 12" to the curb it was automatic failure. Not actually hitting the curb, just getting that close with it lol. But every school is different so it depends on where you go
that American trucking school is the one iam in !!! lol good to see their truck !! hope when it get to my turn of doing the driving test an pre trip an in cab i pass??
Well i went to take the cdl class A test for my first time and i passed. But unfortunatelly my brother didnt he failed the driving. But i tought the test was pretty normal
@ErickLazcon4 yeah its not so bad if you handle your nerves and put in the time to practice, observe and study. I am glad to hear that you passed :) I hope the rest of your journey is safe and profitable :)
thanks bro.. me and my brother are gonna take the test. thanks for the tips. im pretty good in my manuevers its just the schools truck i think you saw them they are calle toro there pretty horrible but they get the job done.
@ErickLazcon4 thats what its about sometimes... just enough to get the job done haha... well good luck and hopefully you can keep me updated when you pass. Just drop another comment or email me :) good luck to you and your bro.
IM GONNA TAKE MY DMV TEST PRETTY SOON LIKE IN 3 WEEKS ANY TIPS YOU GOT. I HEAR THAT PEOPLE WHO FAILED OVER EXAGGERATE ON THE MANUEVERUS BUT PEOPLE WHO PASSED TELL ME ITS SIMPLE AND IF YOU HAVE TO DO A CORRECTION DO IT. AND IS THE ALLEY DOCK HARDER IN THE DMV THAN IN SCHOOL CAUSE I DOCK PRETTY GOOD, BUT DONT WANT TO GET OVER CONFIDENT ON ANY PART OF THE TEST. THANKS
@ErickLazcon4 Tips... For the Pre Trip and In Cab... STUDY x 5 haha... Cant miss ANYTHING on the In Cab inc. (Air Brake Tests) for the Maneuvers. Take your time (don't rush) your allowed 5 pull ups per section so its ok if you don't land it in the hole the 1st time don't worry. Get there early and watch others work all the different test sections so when its your turn you have an idea of what is expected. Watch different people approach and set ups. Calm ur nerves & do ur best :) Good luck

Ok I think that I've seen most of your videos, could you talk about your thought process that lead you to decide on Swift?

I wonder why they don't test with a 53' trailer. Most OTR trucks have them.
