  • ben on the Paleo Diet since mid july 2011 =D !!But hey I just read this thing that says grains & legumes are classified as a fruit??!! ....... Also, nothing I can say convinces my family that corn is unhealthy. advice? :)

  • You only lose weight on Paleo if you go from a high processed junk food diet to paleo but if you are lean and go from a veggie, fruit, nuts, seeds, WHOLE GRAINS, LEGUMES, POTATOE, lean meat, fish, egg and DAIRY diet to Paleo the only thing that changes is your energy levels. I swim about 4000-5000 yrads a day and I noticed a huge difference. I didn't notice much difference body weight exercise-wise but swimming left me drained. Check out Noel Polanco: Vegan Fitness Star's videos. He is a vegan.

  • @binemaya777 Atkins, WAPF, and Taubes's works were not perfect. I'm sure in the future, Paleo would be marked imperfect, too. But why throw it away? Why not improve it? Some people are already doing that, like the fitness community's "earn your carbs" approach.

  • @90Rush I agree but if you buy a car, would you rather buy a German car(BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Audi) or some crap car made in Russia? If I look at diet I look at the healthiest societies like Okinawa, Japan, Kreta to see what they do right and not at the most obese nation to see what they do wrong. I know what you need to do: eat whole unprocessed foods, mostly plants and exercise. Also keep your calorie intake in moderation. Btw, I eat meat and fish so I'm not promoting a veggie diet.

  • i lost 37 pounds so far, but if i try to cheat the the strict diet foosds arthritis that made me wish i were dead comes back.

  • Whenever I ditch carbs for animal fat & meat plus some veggies minimal fruit and seeds I sleep less and better. I don't get it. I thought carbs were energy. But every single time I ditch carbs I have more even energy and strength. If I eat a ligthly cooked steak with only some raw onion I have no indigestion. If I combine with potatoes, rice or even salad I get tired and indigestion. I really can only eat single foods for the most part if I want to digest what I eat.

  • @MormonManUtah Im the exact same...as soon as i eat carbs i want to go to bed...any starchy foods give me indigestion....

  • dexter!!!

  • I've been considering this way of living, but I can't seem to get myself past the fact that the Paleo era didn't have a means to cook (controlled fire, pots and pans). This meant that everything was in a raw state. In order to follow the Paleo diet accurately, you'd have to eat raw meats, organs, eggs and fish. While I'm fine with the idea of eating raw fish, and I'm OK with the idea of eating raw eggs, I'm NOT so "fine" about eating raw meat and organs. Any thoughts on this matter?

  • @Xoiboi This just isn't true. Man discovered fire long enough ago that we have evolved to eat cooked meat and vegetables. Cooked food is easier to digest and takes less energy than raw food.

Even if it were true, and you had to eat raw everything to be the strictest paleo possible, eating the modern equivalent shown in The Paleo Solution by Robb Wolf and others, it still works. Don't sabotage yourself because you can't be perfect about it. Read Robb's book.

  • @Xoiboi Another tip: don't overcook your food. Cook most your food under 118 degrees C, which means mostly boiling, steaming and braising.

  • this diet bypasses the liver energy storage system almost completely. i bet the first few pounds i lost were glycogen stored in my huge liver. in fact i was a little asymmetric due to an enlarged liver and now my belly is almost completely symmetric. this is after one week. also my rheumatoid arthritis is gone. i was a medical scientist so this is very impressive. week one is done.

  • Oh hai! Have you considered intellectus diet (google intellectus424dietcom)? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my friend lost a ton of weight with it.
