Anyone who cannot be absolutely fascinated with this recording is way out of touch and narrow minded. The fact that these kids even know who Down is, much less learn the music to this exceptional level is something to be appreciated. Of all the things we older folk did as kids, we'd love to have been doing what these kids are doing. This isn't Guitar Hero or Rock Band...this is as real as it gets.

I can't give Aaron enough praise for his abilities as a teacher and motivator of young minds.

Recording a song is a lot different than playing it live. Most video you see of professional musicians in the studio show them really concentrating while playing. Even my GOD Dimebag would sit down and play while recording sometimes. Anyone who says these kids should be "showing enthusiasm" has no clue what they are talking about.

First off I love how adults can comment on this with their criticism. These are KIDS. I used to take lessons with this instructor. He DOES NOT use any type of auto-tune software on his students recordings. People are saying the same thing on the new "Cowboys From Hell" video and I was in the studio with them when they recorded that, no auto-tune was was used. Amazing how people will go to these extremes to try and find just one thing wrong with something. . .

We didn't use a a pitch shifter, melodyne or any other pitch correction software on Drew's voice. That's why you can hear that he is slightly off key in a few sections. However, we did use several other effects, delay, distortion and reverb to emulate the same effects used on the original recording. The low, growling voice that you hear in our recording is not Drew Lowry, but Dan Agee. Drew was only 12 years old at the time and wasn't able to sing that low.

They were recording at Chicago Recording Company, one of the best studios in the US. Michael Jackson, Coldplay, Frank Sanatra and more all used the same equipment they were using. So what I'm trying to say is that its hard to really get into the song when your recording and focusing on the best quality sound possible. Especially if you looked at how much money it costs per hour there... haha.
