The British ruined the organic self determination of countries all over the world. Their divide and conquer tactics have stalled hopes for world peace and political unity.

South Sudan shouldn't have broken away. They should have started movements to improve nation wide literacy and then worked hard to establish democracy. This way, the entire country could have had oil exports benefiting everyone. Literacy could have paved the way for cross cultural understanding.

@cantstoptheseeker not true. People of all nationalities and ethnic backgrounds were considered dhimmis under the khalifah. They were protected and given legal and socioeconomic equality in theory and most often in action. Its when people started LEAVING the teachings of Islam that the ethnic-lingusitic and cultural divides between north and south (invigorated by imperial Europe) may have forced the south Sudanese to want to rebel and succeed.

I am a northern Sudanese, and although i didnt live in Sudan that long, the years that i've spent there i've made the most amazing , loyal friends in my life time, and most of them were southerners...I truly LOVE my brothers and sisters from the south, and deeply saddened by the split, it's almost the same feeling i had when my sister got married and left the house; but if they will be happy, free, and feel liberated, then i cant help but to support them ..best of luck<3

@redxenos No, I have seen enough footage of Northern Sudanese and I have read accounts about North Sudan's identity crisis. They are Muslim and Arab by culture, but they are more Blk in terms of race. Very few pure Arab tribes even exist in the North.
