Sissel has performed this song throughout her career. The lyrics are very beautiful and very powerful. It is easy to see understand why this is her favorite from the hundreds of beautiful songs she has sung.

I was weeping, the lyrics and the song are the beautiful parts but it needs a truly godlike voice to bring out the true spirit of Christmas, the spirit of Christ. I don't think there is a better version than this in the past or in the future.

She has a voice like a true angel! This is for me the most beautiful christmas song ever. I am not a mormon but I want to extend an immense gratitude to the Tabernacle Choir who let Sissel come to Utah to perform with them. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and I can only pray that we will have the possibility to re-live this moment in the future. It was divine!

The woman is a goddess. Sheer perfection. Her ability to evoke emotion through tonality is unmatched. Christmas carols tend to be somewhat universal: how come we haven't heard this magnificent one before?

@Figaropipeorgan Your comment is most apt! She is often criticized by armchair opera "experts" for not displaying enough emotion when singing classical songs. These people don't know how to listen or watch. Between, as you say, her tonality and the expressiveness of her face, she communicates the emotion of her songs more clearly than any "real" opera singer I have ever heard.
