  • Mr Bell thank you for these vids I think your stuff is awesome and it fits in perfectly for what im training in ......I started in Bass Rutton MMA style about 6 months ago and im heading to my first subleague tourney in a month and with what your showing and what im learning in class im real excited to get down there and compete i just wanted to say thank you

  • @jbelljitsu i like ur vids sir but ith this one i have a question, i know how the arm bar works but how bout wen you getting a party of hammer fist n hate makers to get the wrist dont you think ur a bit open for more knuckle sandwiches

  • @1988seeker you have a valid point. My approach to the arm bar is a bit different in an mma situation as i prefer to try and tie up an arm as quickly as possible to prevent getting punched in the face. I don't try for wrist control much in that type of situation

  • @jbelljitsu oh i see i would love to see more vids in mma situation with moving targets but i know you need practice for this im recently taking more classes you have any advice for the head triangles frm the guard while been punch in having trouble with getting the head triangle

  • A good practioner of BJJ is not going to leave his arm dangle there. You have to continue to maintain full control of the arm the whole time.

  • Can you also grab around your own thigh?

  • Oh wow! This makes so much sense! Good stuff!

  • great job, I've been searching for a long time now for videos like this one: very explicit, direct, usefull and simple. the perfect think for me and my students...Be aware that we are watching you very close now ... keep up with the good work.

  • @SOFIAN1ERO awesome, I'll be putting a bunch more vids up in the next few weeks. (been a bit busy opening up the new school)

  • @assasinator, your in love, aren't you. i like jbells videos, but i'm not stalking the guy because of it. get yourself some lessons at his dojo.

  • @blue67strm having a stalker makes me feel loved:)

  • @Assasinater75Xbox I'm sorry you didn't get enough hug when you were little...... Please feel free to come visit our school if you are ever in the area and by the way you are my favorite poster as you make me smile.

    Thanks,

    Jay

  • Mate! Your really awesome. I've watched almost all your No Gi videos.

I will try this on my Grappling partner.

    CHEERS :)

  • @buckmajor thanks for the feedback. please let me know if there is something specific that you want to see and I'll see what i can do

  • @jbelljitsu once you pull the arm to the side, scoot your hip out, and grab the lat, can you also attempt to get the back? thank you!,

  • @vi3tboi90 yes

  • @vi3tboi90 yes

  • @vi3tboi90 absolutely

  • These videos are amazing. These submissions will blend nicely with my style, I look forward to trying them out. Much appreatiation for posting.

  • Cool take on the armbar. It took me a longer time to hook it up, but I don't think there was any way my partner could have gotten out once it was locked in. I will say be careful using this on lower belts, had on try to pull his leg out and he popped his own elbow.

    Great sub, great vids.

  • good armbar but kind of hard to pull off

  • holy shit bruce willis

  • @dadirtysoufbowss ,LOLOL, I train under jay, he is much more badass then bruce

  • awesome armbar

  • the hand doesnt slip out from under your armpit??

  • @nt4life sorry for the late reply..... not usually, no

  • this is a technique i was looking for ,very usefull for bigger and stronger opponent especially when they pull is arm immediately when they fell that youre applying armbar

  • I like it... will try and play with it tomorrow in class...

keep the videos comin... I learn a lot studying your videos

    peace...

  • Look forward to trying it in class tomorrow...

keep the videos comin... I enjoy them...

    peace..

  • mate you blow my mind just been watching a hole heap of your vid and i like them alot, diffanatly a style i am going to add to my game

  • @reecemtM thanks for the feedback and glad you like the vids.

  • that is a great move. i cant believe some of the neg comments below. i get in that position all the time and now i have another submission i can use. awesome! btw, jay, you have some excellent video techniques.

  • @bodholio thanks for the feedback. let me know how it worked out for you

  • Man, your videos are really cool and quite helpful. I've been looking for info on refining certain submissions and I've finally found them here. Thank you very much, I am looking forward to using these in class today.

  • @Agtren how did they work out for you?

  • @jbelljitsu What I got out of this video was mainly the posture-breaking part, the rest was familiar. With this posture-break I managed to get several taps, but then the situation you cover in your video on Gi Posture Breaking part 4 occurred, except without the Gi, and I didn't know what to do. My opponent had hidden his elbows and I couldn't pull them out. Should I have pulled him down with the Sterno Choke since there is no collar?

  • why demostrate with a guy with no shirt. thats gay. LOL

  • @dannyhoang maybe i was feeling sexy that day:)

  • cmzuppe - There are actually several ways that you can get his arm across your body and from there it is realy more of a surprise attack than anything else as most of my opponents think I'm going for the sweep when I'm in fact going for the arm. I believe that I show a few other ways to get the arn across the body in some of my videos on breaking your oppoenents posture from the guard.

    Jay

  • Everything is off the arm drag from the guard. If you're a guard player you must be constantly looking for at the very least collapsing your opponents arm. You can feel you have it when their elbow bone clicks past your hip bone, it will make an internal click if you have it really tight. I like the control you have Jay and use it a lot, grabbing the lat on the opposite side. Good flick.

    Bling Bling

  • also if the person is stronger than you it's going to be hard to extend his arm using just one arm from that postion

  • this is much more unrealistic than the traditional no gi armbar...you only have wrist control of one wrist when you grab the elbow...with his other wrist free only an idiot is going to let you do that...when you open your guard in that he is just going to use that arm to push your leg out and you are going to end up in half-guard...let's say you do get open guard and wrist "trapped" successfully...with that open guard it isn't very hard for him to slip that wrist out before you get armbar locked

  • That is one neat move...

  • Just make sure that you leave the arm that's grabbing his leg a little bent so you don't end up arm barring yourself. You'll see what I mean when you mess around with it a bit.

  • Very cool. I've never seen the armbar this way.

I'm gonna definitely be trying this tonight.

  • Thanks Willy, let me know if there is something specific that you would like to see and I'll try to throw it up here. Nice blog by the way.

  • nice attack!!
