I only float this idea this because it was subsequently determined that Chief Hatcher did not violate any laws or departmental procedures when he Tasered Kailee. This is another example of how things have gotten so warped since tazers have come around. When tazers were first introduced, it was as a substitute for a gun IN POTENTIALLY DEADLY situations. That is to say that police were given tazers to taze people who were attacking them with blades and other non-firing weapons, and this was back when tazers were said to be completely non-lethal. Fast forward 20 years, and now it's NORMALL for police to use them for people resisting arrest or running.

Of course, this situation didn't quite work out that way, but at the end of the day, it was Kailee's fault. What part of "Stop running or I'll Taser you!" do you think was so hard for Kailee to understand?

That is completely untrue. Although there have been instances where Tasers were successfully used in place of lethal force, they are NOT required to be used in place of lethal force. Tasers are normally considered to be on the same level as pepper spray in the use force continuum. This is well below lethal force. This is another example of how things have gotten so warped since tazers have come around. When tazers were first introduced, it was as a substitute for a gun IN POTENTIALLY DEADLY situations. That is to say that police were given tazers to taze people who were attacking them with blades and other non-firing weapons, and this was back when tazers were said to be completely non-lethal. Fast forward 20 years, and now it's NORMALL for police to use them for people resisting arrest or running.

@Aulmeyda i disagree with your "more importantly" In this situation the important thing wasn't about her pictures, it was to get her back because shewas running away. the use of the taser was way out of line, if he was that close to tase that girl, then he could've tackled that girl down to the ground and avoid injury like this one. Then the police and her mother could figure out about the pictures later.

@cincan9 I see your point, but no one could've guessed that the taser would've dealt this kind of injury, sure it was kind of extreme but it's normally used to disable someone, not injure them. Maybe the policeman didn't tackle her in fear that he could cause injury that way, they didn't show the cop, but I'm pretty sure the 14-year-old girl was much smaller than him. None of this had to happen, though, the entire situation started because of this girl sending those pictures.

Here is a picture of parents that are not taking their responsibility to their children seriously and run to government offices to be parents for them. Simple answer to the problem. TAKE HER PHONE AND INTERNET ACCESS AWAY. If she bulks at your parental authority, fire her little butt up and take more away from her.
