Job Fairs are a joke and a huge waste of time. Some tables are for those worthless for profit colleges, others that are there aren't even hiring, and too many tables have lazy people that just say "check out our website" all day.

I'd like to know how many people got a job by going to that job fair. I bet it's less than 0.01%

@Scipio2021 You are soooo right!! After 911 I went to so many job fairs I lost count. It was a waste of time and money, only low paying companies show up. Low paying companies and army recruiters.

They are worthless.

Why anyone would go to a for-profit college is beyond me. University of Phoenix, Heald, Everett-these all appeal to lower class, working class people who neither the brains nor grades nor ability to even make it through a community college ( which after all have academic standards for graduation).

Better off going to a state school-like I did.

I feel so sorry for anyone who is unemployed. Our own government, starting with Clinton, gleefully came up with all the Free Trade agreements that have sent most of our jobs to Third World nations and now everyone is ever so surprised that our economy is tanking. I recall Bush standing amidst a bunch of Indians, as dozens of my friends were laid off by Dell, telling the Indians how "Americans love competition." Stop blaming China, our own leaders did this to us.

Do they even hire anyone at Job fairs, if you have I'd love to hear it. My friend had to be a spokesman for her company and they didn't hire anyone that showed up at the Fair they hired people who applied outside of it. So its like ummmmm waste of time much?????? 0_o

@APRtunedAudi it's the same definition. The great depression 30% unemployment did not factor in people who gave up, if i did it would be around 75%. Only 1 out of 4 people were working during the depression.

Afghanistan on Dec09 and i am serving my country well and getting paid for it, can you say the same? i understand if you hate the military, most civilians do anyways but it's an honest living and rewarding career. keep in mind " i can't ever get laid off" unless i commit a felony, can a job do that?

I am canadian and if it meant I have steady work d go to afghanistan in a heart beat. I am 25 and in great health but i cant join my army bc we dont have one and we havent accepted new recruits in years. Yet we continue to hire public servants who are primarily from visible minorities..

This is getting so scary. My husband has been laid off from his job for almost a year, and the only full-time work he's been able to find pays barely enough to make ends meet. We can't even afford the healthcare plan offered through his new job.

OMG!! That's horrible! We were going to buy a home last summer, but my husband got laid off in spring, and it wasn't long until our bills ate through our house savings. I know other people that have lost their homes, and it's almost a relief that we didn't end up buying because now we couldn't afford what we would have been able to afford before his lay off. I hope you and your family are ok.

Even though we dont have a current ww2 production/supply and demand boom that got us out of the great depression, we still need an equivalent boom to create middle class job growth.

This may mean national job protectionism, which the "low cost" countries like china, hongkong, india and mexico dont want to hear.

Get our people in production and supply factories producing goods to sell abroad and to ourselves. If this means higher costs, then subsidize them until the recession is over.

I am glad I have lived on less all the whild I have had more. We are no way wealthy but we are about to pay off our land and not a year too soon. We have lived in a place that needs repairs and remodel but put this off till we own so our investment don't get passed on to others that can pick up the place if we trip up and lose a job. It sucks to play it safe others don;t understand out way but when it is all said and done we have to live with our decision and they with theirs. I hate job hunting

I rather a deed something a lot of people turned their backs on when they had every opportunity to get one. I have been homeless b/c I was young and didn't have anyone to care about me. It takes a lot of years to rise above that and a lot of faith to continue to do right despite all the adversity. I can say I have shut down international criminals, saved the lives of police and others b/c I did the right thing. When I earned I remembered where I could go back to... The streets well never again.

I just graduated from college as well. I have a degree in Business Administration. I know have to go get a diploma in accounting and go for my CMA . Still after all this I will likely not earn good money. The good life is a pipe dream. Were all stuck earning ten bucks an hour.
