So true, the characters do come-off as very petty and stupid at times. Daisy is a bumbling two-faced bitch, Jordan is only there for symbolism of modern womanhood and as a sexual partner for Nick, Nick is prefect and judges everyone even though he said he wouldn't. Gatsby is a idealistic moron who gets killed for being a dreamer. Tom is an ass. Myrtle is a loose woman. Wilson is ignorant and naive, he also works hard to earn money, symbol of the poor in America.
