If we can make a switch in the human brain to make them less violent, then we can also make them more violent, and some creeps out there would certainly want to abuse such a system. Because of that, we'll simply have to adapt to transhumanism.
Western civilization would adapt to become more violent, while eastern would do the opposite. What makes me think this is true are the sheer actions expressed by the two different cultures today.

Also, humans are not perfect - evolution and other examples of bottom up engineering can produce wonderful things, but they are by no means perfect. Why not combine buttom up engineering produced by nature with top down engineering produced by humans?
