all i had as kid in the rural area, raised by mu grandparents, i walked alone, i read books, mostly grownup books and old dusy novels in private, this song, is engraved in my soul for ever... this song gets me, for sure..
It sounds like we've lived parallel lives at times. In the video--though you can't tell--I'm playing with a bridal veil that was packed away in a box. I pulled it out (one of the few items she left behind) and contemplated whether I would allow myself to be anything other than along again. Thanks for seeing this song for what it is.
i look your original film....and wonder like i do so often...the vid is important.....it is possible to change the sense...your film is good...but sad, and i know it was meant sad...my new try with your music take something away from the sadness, make it more light...more crazy.....without destroying the song...only changing the sense....i gave it a distanze to you ...in this case it will be more easy.....but in the same time i like the immages of your film...even when it makes me sad...
Thanks~ I appreciate your words. This is definitely that space of first becoming aware of disillusionment. And what comes after disillusionment? It's an interesting idea to think about.
I can gladly give it to you! There's a place I posted some of it online for downloading (though I don't remember where I uploaded it!) Once I scour through my email accounts, I'll find it and let you know.
i like this song! haha well im glad we are friends teach, im embarrassed to say igrew up in a small town and once had to write a paper to pass, on what made my life more important than showing up to class. i got an A. at least i was always complemented on my ability to tell stories!! well awesome stuff here! take care, i will be listening!
I love this song. it echos a "50's retro- nirvana" sound. just made up that genre:) i just favorited. (love that gutar effect) suweeet!!!!! LOL on your comment " star has crashed and burned" as a "cough-something yr old songwriter myself, i have to say, you have a star already. just dont ever let go of it!!!! this kind of true music, and who commits to it, will be whats leaves a mark. seriously im privlaged to hear it. (are u really an english teacher? will u gently criticize my stuff?:)
Yes, I play an English teacher in real life, but I'm more into the literature than I am into the grammar, so no worrying about criticism from me, ok? =) I like your made up genre (50s retro-Nirvana sound), and I can relate to it. I'm a fan of the F, G, C, Am, and I'm also a fan of the Pixies and even some of Nirvana's stuff, too. Thanks for your comment: "you have a star already... don't ever let go of it!!!" What a fantastic thing to say.
Thanks for subscribing. It's always impossible to think that anything that I've written could end up on a favorites list, so thanks for tell me that. It put a smile on my face (but don't tell anyone ;)
Ha ha! I wish I could have made it say "R. U. O.K. A$&HOLE?" Unfortunately, I was stuck with only the basic letters in the alphabet. The whole thing is done with children's toys: the old Speak 'n' Spell, the Fischer-Price PXL-2000, and a kids' guitar. My mom kind of pack-rats the old toys in boxes, and I was looking to add that one where you pull a chord and it says, "Cow says 'moooo'" but I couldn't find it! Damn it. Thanks for watching.
Don! How is the ride? Great, I hope. Thanks for the comments on this song. You have a way of interpreting the music I make and seeing right through the smoke and mirrors. You're right about being comfortable with yourself. I'm always shocked that you can nail the core issues (and then I wonder if I'm too autobiographical with music intended to be metaphorical). In any case, thanks for stopping by, and enjoy that ride! I just came back from a vacation. It was great!
Thanks! Hey, I was going to tell you that you inspired me to use Tiny Drum. It's a very cool little program. I used it for a new "short film" (no singing) called "Born in the Garden." I'm indebted to you for turning me on to that program because I think it helped me to create a soundtrack that I was looking for. Again, thanks!
Thank you! I love the Speak 'n' Spell too. My mother kept some of our (her children's) old toys in a box in the garage, and when I saw the Speak 'n' Spell I thought, "I'm sure I can find a way to put this to use...." Thanks again for the complements!
Thanks Goose! I've been on hiatus--aka on vacation--enjoying my time on the beach and playing around like a kid making sand-castles! It's been a great week.
Yikes! I've been discovered! It's funny that you should mention the end. There is a whole two minute conclusion that I decided not to include here. You have a good eye!
Very nice and original song! But too despaired and hopeless, and I mean it! The great paradox is that we are all together alone, I suppose, but there is a mistery in solitude, and love when is pure and noble grows in the distance!
This is a very touching song, my friend! Keep the good work! :)
Yes, I understand what you mean about being too despaired and hopeless. I tend to write in allegory, and I think I might be in my existential mid-life crisis. The answer is around the corner. I am most lonely in a crowded room. This is something I am working on changing. Thanks for listening.
Thank you... Perhaps I'm too gentle lately? I'm glad you like it. I'm thinking about restructuring a few songs to make them more heavy. Let the dogs loose, you know? It's time for something different! I'll see if I can pull it off.
my dear friend.....don`t forget, i think to you....friendly, kindly....looking to the sky for ufos rockets and so on....hearing S.O.S.....but can only see stars. It would be wonderful, if your own songs could have be the same healing effect for you as for me...hm...and the same comfort...as for me. It is even this a haunting song. For me.
I wish i could give you a smile....but i can only thank you for your next amazing touchful song. Look at the sky...perhaps you can see light.
Thank you. I am glad that you are moved to feel something. For lack of better words, my "inner child" would feels great happiness to know that somebody is willing to cry with him. They say that tears are some type of release. I am grateful that you walked down this path with me when few in "real life" actually would.... Your tears can mix with mine and give shape to what has always been only a whisper. Thank you!
