  • This was my absolute FAVORITE cartoon movie growing up I would watch it over and over again driving my dad nuts lol I have looked EVERYWHERE for it thank you so much for putting this up! I feel like a little kid again lol Im just as excited to watch it now lol

  • I knew this was real....I would tell people about it and they would be like um no...there is no such thing...and I knew there was....I loved Unico!

  • Wow..what did the put in this anime to make it all seem like a dream?.... I thought I was the only one!!

  • Comment removed

  • Unico was dubbed into the Farsi language in the '80's. The music is different in the Farsi version...much more mysterious and dark. The dubbing is excellent. A masterpiece really. It's funny how something can be made even better than the original in another language.

  • I remeber the first unico from when I was a kid. I always wondered if there wore more adventures, but it's said he has no more memories of his friends and adventures in the fisrst movie.

  • My brothers used to watch this when they were younger so when I was born they passed this VHS on to me . I never knew the name of the anime until now . Google rocks and so do you for having this whole thing . It's made my day :)

  • <3 Unico! thank you SO much for sharing! i'v missed watching Unico, lol!

  • So many lost memories of childhood. Our childish wishes & hopes slowly faded away when we grew older, I thought this was just a strange dream I had. Funny thing is until now I would still vist this film in my dreams almost monthly, still nearly 10 years later. Wow. It's films like this that have very little impact on society that stick with you the most.

  • i have been looking for this for 18 years now! this was my fav. cartoon/movie as a child! i'm 28 now so i must have been about 5 when i saw this last!

  • I'd never gotten a chance to watch the 2nd movie until now. I have to say, sorry but Beezle totally owns Melvin. :-P

  • omg ... i have searched and searched and searched for this ... without any idea of how to even begin looking. i gave up, maybe forever ... but somehow i am here ... i can FINALLY SEE THE WHOLE THING, my parents had it recorded YEARS ago on vhs, but not the whole movie. love you for the upload, i can rest in piece after i finish this.

  • 1:49 made me want to puke adorableness

  • SANRIO <3 always the best

  • As a kid, I kept renting and re-renting this video at my local vid. store! It was so haunting and mesmerizing, and I'm so happy to have found it again. About to watch it: Let's hope I still like it!!!

  • This film was religion to me. I remember seeing it for the first time as a boy on tv 38 in Boston, and my jaw dropped at the ending. A true treasure. Does anyone here also remember Choppy and the Princess? Unico wasn't the only movie brought over-Tezuka's Princess Knight was too as that.

  • it wasnt a series but it was the beginning of the cartton movies they play today dsont be a hater they had to start somewhere

  • How did this not become a series?!

  • that cat looks like a fatter Heathcliff

  • Wow. So, I'm not the only one who thought Unico was a dream I had as a child? It *would* turn out to be an anime.

  • So it does exist! For two decades I thought it was either a movie or a nightmare I had had when I was young.

  • @viciousdinosaur

I first saw this movie when I was 3, I felt the same way until high school when someone wrote into Animerica magazine about it (my reaction was kind of funny , I was all quiet reading it then out of nowhere I was like "Unico!! oh my god!!)

  • Poor Unico.

  • @TheAltair4

That cat looks like he got them stones stuck in his brain and he looks like Garfield's cousin. He sounds like Nathan Lane.

  • @Johnlindsey289 lol. Yeah, and i think he kind of sounds like Curly from the Three Stooges. lol

  • Here's fantastic sequel i also grew up as a kid in the 80's and had it taped as well. Anyone remembers this as a kid in the 80's? who also remembers Warriors of the Wind (the 1985 crude edit of Nausicaa) as a kid too? that was my favorite movie in animation as a kid 25 years ago when i was 4

  • seriously! i have had visions of this demented movie since i was a child! finally discovered what it was!

  • a Sanrio film?.. that explains Hello Kitty in the first film! xD

  • @RoseBudpony1 Sanrio produced this movie but it was actually animated by the Madhouse studio with production assistance from Osamu Tezuka's own company. In fact, this movie and Madhouse's Hiroshima bombing epic "Barefoot Gen" were released in Japan about a week apart, and used many of the same animation staff!

  • Does anybody know where I can download this as a torrent?

  • Can I say again how much I truely love Unico!! I loved this movie as a child! Thank you mom for getting that huge sattelite dish other wise I would have missed out on such a wonderful movie! ? Unico is my most favorite!! :)

  • This is the one that I had onVHS as a kid. I didn't even know the other 2 existed until I was youtube searching for this one!

  • Whaaaat? He won't remember Beezle or Katy? THIS IS SUCH BULL.

-sigh- Augh but now that I'm watching this movie I can't seem to stop. Oh well.

That freakin' cat deserves to be stabbed with Unico's Pegasus-horn!

(Is it just me or is Unico cuter in this movie?)

  • I love this movie

  • wow i was trying to remember this movie... I was only 5 years old cant believe it.. All i remember was the little girl and the long lost brother

  • First one was better. Katy and Beezel FTW

  • I freakin' hate Melvin Magnificat. Can anyone tell me WHY this character is even IN this? Honestly, poor Unico needs a hug after what that fucking asshole of a cat did to him.

Movie's off to a pretty good start, though, other than that.

  • OMG:) i remember watching this movie over and over again when i was younger!! i could only remember the name unico but could not remember the full name thank you so for bringing back so many memories of mine!!!!

  • He handled it... LIKE A BOSS!

  • ... WHERES BEESTEL

  • 3:14 "you will remember nothing of what has happened"

    How very convenient. -_-

  • I named my dog Toby. ;)

  • This is one of my favorite childhood movies of all time. Absolutely ingenious, adorable, and memorable!

  • People thought i was crazy too, i wanna get a tattoo of unico, he was my fav as a child, i think i like the first one better though

  • ...Mario-like-voiced blue cat?

  • OMG, thank you thank you I have been looking for this movie for years! Thank you!

  • OMG!!! I remember seeing this when I was a small kid, but I never knew what it was! Thank you for posting this, I was starting to wonder if I didn't dream it up.

  • This movie is definitely responsible for at least one wet pair of pants sometime back in 1988 or so.

  • I love this movie! I watched it too as a child and I love it for the sounds that take me back XD

  • 5 people aren't magical.

  • I used to act out scenes from this movie in the grocery store, while I was sitting in the cart. Especially the part where Kuruku screamed "SHUT UUUUPPPPPP" at them. Whoops!

  • The puppet scared the crap outta me when I was a kid. I love it!!!! ^_^

  • there's no mistaking when i think that u tube has it all!!!! O__O this is soooooooo old omg!

i remember watching this when i was a little girl, it would annoy me cuz at the time i didn't undrestand the movie, all i remembered was the wooden puppets( so sad T__T) , and now iam thankful to come across it, many years later i am finally able to watch this and....underestand it XD

  • The sounds are absolutely amazing.

  • My therapy was all in vain... this whole time the nightmare was an ANIME???

  • he is like a nigga in a white neighbourhood ... aww

  • now this is extremely effin me up when Im high XD and I love it :)

  • OMG!! I'am in complete disbelief like the other members- I can't believe I'am seeing this movie again! I use to watch it over and over again when I was little. When I got older I couldn't remember the name of it- only small bits and pieces. It's actually a kinda weird movie now that I'm older watching it, but I love it anyway as it being a part of my childhood! Thanks for posting!!!!!! :)

  • LOVE UNICO! Anyone know if it's available on DVD yet? This was my all-time favorite movies growing up-my parent would go to the video rental place-and I always picked this. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!! ;))))

  • Thank You!!!! I tought i was crazy but it was real!!!

  • Unicooooo! =D

  • "Pray that the gods don't find you." Ok... Then who are you praying to?

  • @MartenFerret ......... LOL!! You never think of that stuff till you are older I guess.... HaHA .....

  • my god!!! this is also what iv been trying to remember for years. my only memories of this movies is the girl and the boy but i forgot that their related I dont remember a unicorn in this movie...tbut anyway thank you for posting this.

  • The vague image of a pink ball shaped 'witch' would come to mind every so often for the last 20 years at least. I would google descriptives.. names.. karuko.. karuku.. nothing. i finally found it on here last night. I had seen this as a kid and have always wanted to find it again. :)

  • Oh, and because everyone else mentioned it at least once...

    TOOOOBBBBIII. TOOOOOOOBBBIIIIII.

  • Oh God the memories! I still have it on VHS. Lord, i remembered that the puppet master in here, Kerucu I believe, scared the shit out of me when I was small.

  • Oh this movie I used to watch when I was a wee kid. In the present I was trying to remember the title. Now I know thanks for sharing this awsome movie :D

  • This is the only Unico movie ive seen. I absolutely love it though.

  • I could never get enough of this movie growing up, although Lord Kuruku is hands down the most terrifying animated villain ever conceived in the minds of men. "Loooooooonely!!! You said that I'm Loooooooonely!!!" or the quintessential "Tooooooby... TOOOOOOOBY!!"

  • @spacecataz25 Yes, I agree! Kuruku is the CREEPIEST thing ever!! The contive facial expressions, and that bizzare voice... wow. What an imaginative character!!

  • I cant believe im finally watching this again. Im so glad i grew up when i did

  • Wow I wasn't even born when this movie came out, but luckily I'm able to watch it now and I'm loving it. Thanks for uploading!

  • Like alot of people I first saw this as a child back in the 80's (85, 86 maybe), on tv (HBO I think).

And like alot of people I forgot about most of it except for a few powerful images and sounds.

For me it was Lord Kuruku's "Tooobbyyyy"; that stuck in my mind for decades!

Thanks for uploading them so that everyone could see how amazing Japanese animation was back in the late-70's/early 80's.

  • @Vebinz Yesss!!!! Toooobbbbyyyy! that stuck with me too. I'm 27 now and saw it when I was 3 and I remembered that most of all. I liked the 1st Unico better though

  • @AmputationAnnie

The first movoe was great, but to me Lord Kurkuku is what makes the second one better.

The first film's Baron villain was real scary and powerful, but he didn't have the depth or Kuruku.

  • So happy I finally found this movie!

  • Tooooooby! Yes I remember this- I loved this movie! Awww, memories.

  • Ditto Imyers and Embers! I've been looking for this for years!!! :D :D

  • Wow I have also been looking for this movie,,,Thank you!

  • It's an old cartoon but I still love it :)

  • I finally found it

Thank you for uploading it, I only remember there was a small unicorn, a boy and that creature that used to say Tooooooooby ! lol so awesome :)

  • awsome! 1988 is back

  • I love this movie!! My friends thought I was nuts when I showed them this.

  • Thanks for the post.

  • Amazing how many people this movie had an impact on, yet they couldn't place it. It took me ten minutes of searching to figure out what this way (I didn't know they were turned into puppets, I thought it was zombies or blocks or something.) My brother and I used to watch this all the time on HBO or Cinemax (can't remember which) when we were kids.

  • It amazes me that I'm not alone on the whole "this strange movie from my childhood that I can't remember but absolutely loved". I also tried to search this movie for nearly 20 years. The only thing I remembered was something about a blue wizard named Toby...that's it. That witch frightens me now the same way she did when I was a kid.

  • thats exactly what happened to me. i saw this as a little girl and remembered the name "unico" but everytime i tried to explain it to someone they would be like..."right ... ok" and give me that "whatever your so odd julie" look.

  • I searched years for the name of this movie. All I could remember was something about a bridge that extended and block-like people walking under water.

  • oh my god so this is where all my "castle made of lego people falling apart in the sky" nightmares come from. i'v tried to figure this out for years.

  • @frognosticator7

You're not the only one. for 15 years all I had to go on was that exact memory and nothing else. Yahoo answers figured it out amazingly.

  • @frognosticator7 I had a dream for years of walking in the woods and being followed by a murkey stream of water with eyes that wanted to eat me. Later as an adult I found out it was actually a Hello Kitty cartoon episode that I must have watched as a child. Sanrio is responsible for some pretty dark images I think.

  • @frognosticator7 That is toooo weird. I thought I was the only one that had those. I haven't seen this since I was like 4 or 5, and that was 25 years ago, and the brick people ALWAYS stuck with me.

  • this was like my all time favorite movie as a kid!! holy crap!! i love it :]

  • this was like my all time favorite movie as a kid!! holy crap!! i love it :]

  • I was so glad I found this again, I remember reading my cross country team mate's anime magazine and someone had wrote in asking the title of this movie

  • I love Melvin's sarcastic wit, 'Where have you been Mars?'. I love that cat.

  • Yay I love this movie ^ ^ (Even tho it is, VERY depressing at times...made me cry once or twice in certain parts) I also was trying to learn how to play Tobys flute song on my clarinet...got half way thru

  • I just found this movie on DVD!!! I can't wait!! Oh the memories. Definately one of my favorite ALL TIME movies. I can't believe I was 3 when this movie came out. I think I wore out the tape. lol Now I will have it on DVD!! Oh the joy!! The retail only had 4 copies left, too.

  • And I've been searching for this movie for over 20 years. Yes, even before the Internet. I'm 28 now and I also remember watching this when I was around 5. I never knew what it was called. Only there was this wizard wearing a blue cape named Toby, and this evil witch. I just looked for it's description and found the name on some forums that were 4 years old. Throughout the years I would occasionally try to search for it, but never knew the name and would wind up at a dead end. Thank you.

  • Omg! Thank you so much for this! I watched it when I was little. It gave me nightmares back then! I hope now that I'm 27 I'll be ok lol

  • Oh I remember watching this on Disney back in the day, OLD SCHOOL!

  • Same here!! I remember I wanted to watch it one time but I had to leave for Sunday school :(

  • I'm barely 15 and I grew up on this.

    Hell. Yes.

Hurrah for three siblings years older than I.

  • omg omg where did you find this???

  • My mom never let me watch Disney so I saw this when I was 3. It is still one of my favorite anime of all time, by the grandmaster Osamu Tezuka=)

  • YES!!! OMG people thought i was crazy when I tried to describe this movie I remembered as a kid! I'm not crazy anymore!!!

  • @lmyers135

My husband thought I was nuts talking about a unicorn and a evil puppet

  • @lmyers135 same thing for me everyone thought I was nuts too!

  • @lmyers135 good for you!

  • @lmyers135 I know the feeling exactly, its been ages for me trying to remember more details about this movie, I only remembered the chair floating at the shore at the end of the world and that´s it. Tried googling the few details every now and then and finally today, after easily 10 years of having this memories come and go in my mind I googled it one more time and here I am... Great memories

  • @lmyers135 They thought the same of me too!!!

  • *sigh* They just don't make movies like this any more. Grand adventures of Good vs. Evil. Moral messages that are subtle yet entertaining.

  • I have it on VHS i bought it off of some guy that sold copies of it on the net for $5 along with another movie of Unico. But this movie is awesome!!!

  • omg the second video! im so excited to watch it.. as a yvery young child i only remember seeing the first.. but nows my chance for the second!! THANK YOU so much for uploading!!

  • So much better than fantastic adventures of Unico.

  • I was always mesmerized by the west wind as a child =) I have also looked for unico for years. thanks for posting!

  • I LOVED UNICO AS A CHILD! Brings so many memories....

...I still love it and i'm 16!!!!! Is that pathetic?!

  • Not at all. I'm a grown man and remember Unico fondly. For years, I thought I'd completely imagined the character and the movies since I hadn't seen them since I was about 4 (~ 1987). Who knows what one recollects from that age were real or make-believe? Always thought the voice was very cute (even then)!

  • Oh.....didn't realize Unico was male (yikes!)

  • Nope, I'm 24 ;) haha

  • 24 thats awsome!

I want to buy this and I will watch it even when I'm 80! haha!

  • Not in the least. I still love it and I am 26! ^_^

  • @alexahaller - Not at all! I'm twenty-seven and I loveit.

  • @Thearl Way to be!!

  • @alexahaller - Thanks, man!

  • @Thearl Haha no problem! :D

  • oh unico, I love you~

  • Oh wow.. I've been looking for this movie for the better part of the last 25 years. I'm kicking myself for not thinking of checking here a few years ago! I so adored these Unico movies as a kid. Thank you very much!

  • YES.

  • Thanks for the post!

  • Holy crap! I have been trying to find this movie for years. I watched it on the disney channel as a kid and didnt know the name or anything. I could only go by small memories of it.

  • @Embers28 me too

  • Wow! My parents tried to tape this when I was a kid, but we only got half of it. After all these years I finally get to see how it ends!

  • It;s cool to see that other poeple loved this as kids, it's truly unforgettable even 25 years later.

  • I love this movie! I remember it from when I was a kid. I've been searing for places to buy it, and on Amazon VHS and DVDs are so expensive! I ended up getting a Japanese copy (English speaking) for $10 from some place overseas. Totally worth it!!

  • Comment removed

  • I always thought West Wind was pretty, pretty hot I mean LOL...

  • Fun fact: The voice of the West Wind in the English version is the same woman who voiced Judy Jetson. =)

  • There are not enough words to express my thanks for this. It was my favorite as a child and I thought it was lost forever.

  • OMG!!!!! thank you so much for putting this on here. this was one of my favorite childhood movies. ive been search for years for the name and the movie itself. there was only one video store in my town that had one copy of this movie. but now that store is no longer there..this is amazing!!! thank you!

  • the unicorn is so cute!

  • remember that creep with the big eyes ? i forgot the name lol... used to creep me out !

  • KUROKO !! got it ~

  • i only knew of the first movie when i was little. never knew of the second two

  • I loved this movie when I was little. I always had to wait for it to come on the Disney channel, none of the video stores had it. I'm not really in to it now, but I can still note that this is a fantastic movie for children. (SPOILER) On a side note, doesn't Unico turn un to an adult flying unicorn and have an Epic "battle aura" anime battle charge, stabbing an evil wizard with his horn at the end? Hell, thats still pretty bad ass!

  • i Got this movie

  • cuando lo vi de pequeña me encanto gracias por colgarlo

  • omg ive been searching for this movie for the longest. as you this is was my fav lol. now i gotta search thru the vhs for it.

  • the last unicorn is another great one that conjures up memories

  • melvin magnificat.. i am laughing SO HARD seriously.. this is amazing..

  • One of my favorites as a kid. Thanks for posting.

  • the first animal on screen, the owl, bows in the very beginning. this is a japanese greeting for hello.

  • this is it! that's so funny i commented that on this vid. THIS movie is the one i've remembered for so long!!! "the ends of the earth", and the puppet that walks into the ocean, that's this movie! lol. when i saw the first Unico (youtube) i thought my search was over, i didn't know there was a 2nd! (there's a 3rd i think in japanese). all i could do was smile at the end of watching this. i finally found it. =D

  • great, but no offence, but this cartoon is no match in the others. Admit it, right?

But thats cute too,and the cutest uinicorn in history

  • dude, thanks SO much for posting this movie. i have literally been searching for this movie for over 4 years on the internet after i had a dream of me as a kid and i kept seeing flashes of the living puppets on the TV. i've done countless Google searches trying to describe the scene and just the other day finally found a Yahoo Questions query that was similarly worded. pretty crazy that even in the internet age when everything is on demand, some searches still just take time and patience.

  • I know the feeling. I too have been remembering several scenes from this movie, and i've been trying to find it ever sense. i could never remember the name of the movie.

  • lol the same shit happened with me and this flick along with the Secret of Nymh and The BFG. The nostalgia couldn't leave me be! haha

  • exactly the same for me. i kept remembering the puppet walk into the ocean for 20 years.

  • does anyone know about a movie that became public around the time unico came out. all i can remember is something with a wooden puppet (maybe not pinochio) maybe not a puppet, but he walks into the ocean and i remember the words "went to the corners of the earth"... ? i've been searching forever! (at least i found unico =)

  • I have memories of that one too but for the life of me I can't remember what it is called either. Please let me know if you find it!

  • "Saving our Fragile Earth"

  • This will always be one of my favorite movies of all time, no matter how old I get...

  • Two things...i didn't know there was a second Unico flick and two...I sure didn't know that Sanrio owned it...wooooow.....

  • i seen this a loooooong time ago and never could find it ever since....thanx for posting

  • one of my favorites too

  • seriously I cant believe so many people out there have seenthis video. i thought I was the only one. Nice to know Im not alone I loved this as a kid

  • Thank you so much...Its people like you that keep the spirit of our childhood alive! I've not seen this since I was at least in single digits...

  • That's the CUTEST little unicorn I ever saw!=3

    (Sits down and watches.)

  • I like you Unico! And I am so happy to see you again after 20 years! Don't be sad! :)

  • I can't help myself from sounding like another broken record and mimicking what so many others have said. I was born in '81 and remember seeing this when I was 5 or 6. I have tried for years to figure out what it was, thinking it must have been something I dreamed up, to now realize it was this great film that actually exists. Now my challenge is getting this on some sort of digital media so that I can preserve it for years to come. Thank you [swaswj] ! This is a real treasure. Cheers.

  • i found it on amazon and a couple other sites..

  • I loved this movie... thx

  • i didnt know there was a second one!?!?

  • sweetsauce.

  • I wish back then they had made a 3rd Unico movie.....just one more. ;)
