  • I don't blame you. Only Cunard & Holland America builds Liners with a sense of style. Other Liners do look like floating Las vagas casinos.

  • OH YEAH! Never thought of that. I guess even Ocean Liner comments can get spam. I understand, arigoto. By the what do you think of France Norway, Queen Mary 2, & Queen Victoria?

  • @SuperTitanicfreak Loved the France/Norway, but haven't sailed on either of the other two. I'm not crazy about the new ships, but at least Cunard makes an effort to keep some classic lines.

  • Shipgeek, I don't undeerstand why my comment have to be appove. They are just comment about Ocean Liners, like Bremen & Queen Mary. Do you about Saga Rose? I HATE scrapping. Just so you know, After finding out about Saga Rose, I gave everything I have to serve Ocean Liners. My body, my soul, my life, my eyes, even my very existance.

  • @SuperTitanicfreak Hey, sorry about that, but I have all comments set to moderate because of spam and such. I do check frequently and approve though! :)

  • SS Bremen, the most advance liner of the early 30s

  • The liner passing in the background at o.36 is the BERENGARIA ex IMPERATOR.

  • Schönes Video trotzdem!

  • Take a look at 0:08, it´s signed Hapag-Lloyd on the brigde - The Fusion of North German Lloyd Bremen and Hapag (Hamburg) was in 1970.

So that are not the 1930´s!

  • HAPAG-Lloyd was also used in the 30's as a joint venture for marketing..look in old magazines for old advertisements and you will see it there.

  • @Beckstown1973

  • Great video. But it's not home movie. It's part of a documentary by Dietrich W. Dryer from the year of 1930.

This movie has a runtime of 42 minutes at all.

The last time the untitled movie has been shown was at 09-27-2007 in bremerhaven. Even where the ship was built.

  • Mag ja sein, daß es so einen Film von Herrn Dryer 1930 gab. Aber hier werden Szenen gezeigt, die definitiv später aufgenommen worden sein müssen! 1930 waren NDL u. Hapag erbitterte Konkurrenten, hatten keine gemeinsamen Gangways...

  • Looking at those wonderful designed ships like the Bremen, Normandie, United States and France with their elegant silhouettes you become aware how poor the nowadays cruise liners look like.

Even if designers try hard to imitate their splendour and combine it with the features of todays cruise liners the result is hardly ever more than bad proportioned "Frankenstein" - like the Queen Mary 2. A cruise liner will never be a transatlantic race horse. These times are over and will never come back...

  • I think the Germans were ahead of everyone in building oceanliners. Looking at the Bremen built in 1929, you can see where Cunard put the same features in the Queen Mary and Elizabeth. Thats why it looks like a Cunarder, only 10 years before the rest. Good movie!!

  • Sorry, it really is the RMS Olympic, i confused it with the RMS Aquitania

  • I think 0:33 is either the LEVIATHAN or IMPERATOR/BERENGERIA. Beautiful!!! All ships were rather alike though. Looking at the boat deck remind me of the QUEEN MARY in Long Beach. But still with its own personality. Liners are most magnificent! ;sigh;

  • I know what it was now, its the RMS Aquitania

  • Is that the Olympic in the background at 0:33

  • I think it's the Ile de France (1927). The third funnel is a dummy.

  • You're right, i noticed that after i posted the comment

  • wow that was pretty cool, too bad it didnt show bermuda for more than a second...
