@thenikoxgtr also 2jz is slightly larger displacement, and i believe the turbos are on the opposite sides of the engine. there is also other differences but yes they are very similar engines and both offer outstanding performance :)

It makes no difference how good a new car is. The new GTR is a great car. What it does take, is a good chassis and money. I doubt you will ever see the new gtr putting out over 600kw For a lot less money, you can build a supra to a street drivable 600-900kw.The 2jz is a proven power engine.

In Europe we call them Skylines and GTRS and w/e other names... In japan tho if you go up to someone and tell me then you want to buy a "SKYLINE" they will tell you to go to Infinity... the first skyline GT-R was NOT the R32, the R32 was made in 1989 and had the RB26 motor which carried on to the R33 and R34 GT-R's. Now this is the Nissan GT-R R35, this is not a skyline at all. The current gen skyline is known to us as the infiniti G35/37. The R35 name is a misnomer since it has nothing to do with the last gen GT-R's. Actually the first SKYLINE was made in 1957 called ALSI-1 which was 1.5 litre. The GTR badge was put on in 1969, the first R32 production car was made in 1989 - 1994 with the v - spec version which was released in response to NISMOS group A & N victories in 1992 - 1993. The R32 Skyline was being compared to the far more expensive Porsche 911 Turbos and Ferrari Testarossas in its day, and now, almost twenty years on, the Nissan GT-R is still giving supercar makers sleepless nights haha....
The Supra engine is a monster of an engine...everyone knows its good. It puts out pretty good power with it's original twin turbos. It's only downside is that the body is heavy.
The R35 isn't a super car and don't expect it to be so good, i wasn't made mainly for speed it's a 4 seater saloon car. That's why it is such a great car.
I think the GT-R is worth every penny. It's this super car with a sports car look and costs waaaayyyyyyy less than most high-end cars. You couldn't ask anything else from a car with this much power and handling and price
It's hardly a super car, while it is a good price for what you get, people with that money can invest an extra10-20k and get a ZR1 or viper. There are many videos of GT-R's getting spanked against real cars. Even the supra in this video was a baby. Not to mention all the horribly mechanical and warranty problems that have come with this car already. Launch the car and void the warranty, yay nissan.

They spent 1600 a month to just upkeep their car, not including insurance and gas. All i have changed is the stock Gloss Black Wheels with Rays Volk Racing VRG2 Wheels (Black) and now fitting Carbon Fibre Racing PWJDM Ram Air Induction kit & now ordering JDM 3.5 inch diameter, that splits directly into four smaller pipes hopefully it will sound incredible. Not going to change much power to the engine not quite yet but i'll see how it goes.

That's an ongoing debate. Nissan's site features articles calling the GTR a former Skyline. Doesn't matter, the GTR is in the Skyline GTR's spirit. It has heritage in the Skyline GTR's of yesteryear. There is no doubt that the GTR is definitely the successor to the performance Skylines though.
Who saw the video of the japanese engineer saying that the supposed launch control was for getting out of gravel or mud??! Anyway, he said that the best launch was achieved just stomping the gas pedal. It was a controversial subject....Anyway, did I hear the GTR chirp it's tires in FOURTH!?!?!? right as it was disappearing off into the horizon...Incredible! I'm talking about the current GT-R which is in this video. The ACTUAL skyline is the infiniti G35, the car above is the GT-R NOT A SKYLINE. It's quite the common mistake by people, as it doesn't even say skyline anywhere on the car. Supras also aren't plastic tubs, if you did research you know they're heavy ass pigs.

In Europe we call them Skylines and GTRS and w/e other names... In japan tho if you go up to someone and tell me then you want to buy a "SKYLINE" they will tell you to go to Infinity... If you tell them you want a Skyline R34 or a Skyline GTR then you can go buy Nissan Skyline models. Second of all this car above is a Nissan GTR R35! not a skyline! Skyline ended with R34 GTR Vspec II. I probably do know more than you about these cars so dont tell me to go do research too ok ?

the first skyline GT-R was NOT the R32, the R32 was made in 1989 and had the RB26 motor which carried on to the R33 and R34 GT-R's. Now this is the Nissan GT-R R35, this is not a skyline at all. The current gen skyline is known to us as the infiniti G35/37. The R35 name is a misnomer since it has nothing to do with the last gen GT-R's. I'm not anywhere near a nissan expert and I know this. so stfu and go eat your words

Actually the first SKYLINE was made in 1957 called ALSI-1 which was 1.5 litre. The GTR badge was put on in 1969, the first R32 production car was made in 1989 - 1994 with the v - spec version which was released in response to NISMOS group A & N victories in 1992 - 1993. The R32 Skyline was being compared to the far more expensive Porsche 911 Turbos and Ferrari Testarossas in its day, and now, almost twenty years on, the Nissan GT-R is still giving supercar makers sleepless nights haha....

The Supra engine is a monster of an engine...everyone knows its good. It puts out pretty good power with it's original twin turbos. It's only downside is that the body is heavy.

I think the GT-R is worth every penny. It's this super car with a sports car look and costs waaaayyyyyyy less than most high-end cars. You couldn't ask anything else from a car with this much power and handling and price

It's hardly a super car, while it is a good price for what you get, people with that money can invest an extra10-20k and get a ZR1 or viper. There are many videos of GT-R's getting spanked against real cars. Even the supra in this video was a baby. Not to mention all the horribly mechanical and warranty problems that have come with this car already. Launch the car and void the warranty, yay nissan.

I'm hating cuz there are too many GT-R faggot fanboys out there. Have you even read inside lines future predictions for the GT-R. They spent 1600 a month to just upkeep their car, not including insurance and gas. Yes the specs are great for the price, but as everyone has figured out you'll eventually end up paying the same price as a car with better build quality.

wow!!! who told you its 1600 a month for upkeep?? thats a lie!!! oil change is average $100 and some change, and insurance isnt all that bad im 25yrs old and only pay around $250, gas isnt that bad either highway i can get up to 29mpg sometimes more, its a great, fun car, drive one and youll see, seriously at least get the facts straight, 1600 come on dude not even lambos and ferraris cost that much to up keep monthly.

@jdfry123 i think hes adding oil change, tir change(probably high performance tires), full maintenance, interior maintenance, and probably all fluid changes i think in motor trend their "long term test" shows a $2,865.75 dollar maintenance cost but that was 5 point insp 4point oil chan 2 point cabin air filter 4 wheel align tans fluid other fluids engine air filter and engine coolant oh i just read 1600 for tires but that is where he got his 1600 (editor smashed this car a lot he admitted it)

@myztichydra well the last sentence sums up the high cost, i bet he did that to most supercars it won't be less than 2.8k, if you drive it properly it costs a little bit more than the new z, my rs4 is twice as worse than my gtr for running costs, when you buy a german sports saloon, come back and complain that the gtr is expensive.

All i have changed is the stock Gloss Black Wheels with Rays Volk Racing VRG2 Wheels (Black) and now fitting Carbon Fibre Racing PWJDM Ram Air Induction kit & now ordering JDM 3.5 inch diameter, that splits directly into four smaller pipes hopefully it will sound incredible. Not going to change much power to the engine not quite yet but i'll see how it goes.

@alvarezah for insurance companies a young driver is between 16 and 24, once you hit 25 your insurance will go down. plus also depends on your driving record. my friend owns a 96 integra and he has a shitty record ( 2 accidents, speeding tickets and more) he pays around 260$/month for one way insurance

Hey I'm a Supra fan, but this latest GTR is out of this world. They are competing with Ferrari's, Porche, Lambo now, not competing with Supras and Honda's anymore. Thats how fast this thing is.
I know I guy that has 3 Aston Martins (Vanquish S, DB9, Vantage), a Ferrari, a Audi R8, and he just bought 1 of these and he said it was the cheapest of them all and the fastest.

@mosbah100 I'm talking R35's. The fastest in the world runs mid 10's. Yes the old skylines were amazing, great chasis. Just saying the new ones are a bit overrated as far as race cars go. Great in corners but in a straight line there are many serious street cars that will crush them.

lexus and toyota said it can finish the Nur in 7:24sec which is faster than the gt-r, and the gtr may hit 62m/h faster but it loses in the long runs easily to the LF-A. it also looks and sound 10000 times better.

@jdfry123 the lfa is closer to 400k but i totally agree with you... the lfa beats the gtr but only by like half a car length in the quarter and it costs like 4 times the gtr... if its gonna cost 4 times the gtr then it better be 4x the performer on the street/track and its not... i think owning an lfa is more of a status thing so you can show off that you have one

It might can be a lot farther away from the GTR if the race lasted longer. Plus, advance tunning of both cars, MAYBE the LFA can turn out to be much much faster. I dunno, as of now, GTR is still king of Japan.

Nissan GTR 11.5 seconds @ 123.9MPH
Lexus LFA 11.8 seconds @ 124 MPH
The GTR is also quicker around tracks aswell 7/10 Tracks the GTR smashed the LFA.. I call that excellent bit of engineering from Nissan, just shows you don't need to spend over 300K for brillant performance.

@kingre1986 Not a lot of people bought supras from the dealership. Toyota didnt make much profit from Supras. However, a lot of people bought used supras, which, toyota didnt get anything out of it. Supras are in demand now because people actually know the value of it and how rare it is. But yea, when it was in the lot, nobody really buys it.

That's an ongoing debate. Nissan's site features articles calling the GTR a former Skyline. Doesn't matter, the GTR is in the Skyline GTR's spirit. It has heritage in the Skyline GTR's of yesteryear. There is no doubt that the GTR is definitely the successor to the performance Skylines though.

Who saw the video of the japanese engineer saying that the supposed launch control was for getting out of gravel or mud??! Anyway, he said that the best launch was achieved just stomping the gas pedal. It was a controversial subject....Anyway, did I hear the GTR chirp it's tires in FOURTH!?!?!? right as it was disappearing off into the horizon...Incredible! If so, kudos to the GTR's mastermind ECU which allows for such technological wizardry.
