  • In other words, "no".

  • I encourage anyone who cares to know what "Snopes" has to say about Al Gore's "carbon footprint" that they go to their site and read their report entitled 'Al Gores Energy Use'

  • @ShockofClara

The top two selling vehicles last year were the F150 and the Silverado. Both get about 19 mpg overall.

A woman in India would have to have 10 children to match the impact of a single American woman with one child.

Americans use 20% of the world's energy but account for 5% of the population.

The gall of these people to lecture others about energy use.

  • @AshtonPhoto Please check out my newest video series I put up, The Church Of Global Warming.

  • @ShockofClara

I did. If you want my honest opinion ask me. If not, please don't.

  • Some 'strange' person below attempted to relate Carbon Dioxide to 'water' and how it is perfectly possible for people to drown in water. GET AWAY!! Try sticking to the point in hand and deal with the scientific facts of Carbon Dioxide. Drifting off point only lends weight to my argument and insults - even more. From a geological perspective, CO2 concentrations today are pretty much at an all time low (roughly 385ppm). During the Cambrian Period - they were estimated to be around 7000ppm. FACT!

  • @MegaPostman77 Too much CO2 was sequestered away in coal beds (former forests) and ocean floors. The planet is starved for it. If we can release enough of this CO2, we could make this planet much more green and provide much more food for its growing human population.

The CO2 fertilization effect: higher carbohydrate production and retention as biomass and seed yield. Rice, Soy, Trees, leafy crops respond well to increased CO2

    fao*org/docrep/w5183e/w5183e06.htm

    CO2. It's the Green Gas.

  • @MegaPostman77 No you fucking moron, you compared CO2 to H20. You claimed that CO2 is not a poisonous gas, which is 100% irrelevant! The point is that CO2 is a green house gas, like WATER VAPOR. While CO2 is indeed toxic at high levels, everything is, and that is not the point. If you hung out in a green house for too long would you need a toxicity screening? No, the problem is that temps are higher than ``they should be.''

  • Somebody stated that it does not matter how much electricity Al Gore uses because it is clean energy; it is not releasing greenhouses gases. Well, sorry to offend you, but I disagree with you're assumption that Carbon Dioxide, as a greenhouse gas, is causing a problem to begin with. Alarmists constantly make such statements, but yet they offer to scientific evidence to support their claims. All they can come up with is that scientists agree with each other and so it must be true. GOD HELP US!

  • @MegaPostman77 They're also wrong.

It was GW Bush whose home is "off the grid" using geothermal and other sources to provide its energy.

Gore's lavish mansions are very much "on the grid".

  • @MegaPostman77 Who gives a shit about Al Gore? It's like claiming that T--mobile is a poor phone because Catherine Zeta Jones is a dumb bitch. Our argument is that a great majority of scientists agree u'rs is that u don't like Al Gore. As a scientist in another dis I understand that Peeps who spend their entire lives studying something have so much knowledge on the subject it would take 6mnths of constant talking so u can sound like an idiot.

  • @MegaPostman77 As it is so obvious 2u that it's false, u need to 2explain how 97% of sci can spend their entire lives studying something to come to the completely wrong answer, while u, who thinks that GWarm experts are claiming that CO2 is a poisonous gas, who clearly has a political bias, and I assume has never read a scientific paper in the field, can somehow magically get the right answer.

  • Taxing us to buy lavish mansions will not stop these natural processes.

It has happened again and again. It is why we have ice ages and warm periods.

The only difference now is con men and communists, like Gore, Soros and Gorbachev, using it as an excuse to direct our money into their own pockets.

  • he really should have just said no i'm not signing any pledges pledges are for bitches

  • Al Gore can afford clean energy and this does not excuse the underlying hypocrisy in his argument. For the record, CO2 is not a pollutant; it is plant and tree food which is essential for life on earth. Any reasonably informed scientific individual would understand this basic fact. The notion of clean energy is flawed in itself, because CO2 as a trace gas is vital for life on earth and therefore nothing to worry about from a scientific standpoint.

  • @MegaPostman77

How can you possibly say something as stupid as you just said and be content with your life? You realize that water is not a pollutant? You realize that people drown? How did you get to be so fucking stupid? You have absolutely, totally, and completely no idea what it is you are talking about based on your comment, but you see fit to share your stupidity with the world? What the hell is wrong with you??

  • @psistarpsi80

I don't care what side you're on, you lose the argument the moment you descend into argumentum ad hominem. See how easy it is to make someone else look dumb?

  • @AshtonPhoto @AshtonPhoto Ironic ... my arg is the only arg page that isn't of this form! The entire arg of u'all is 'Al Gore's a dick so GW is a sham' which is the very definition of AAH.In fact, the arg I was refuting was yet another AAH. Claim: CO2 is not a pollutant => dangerous is an. classic AAH. My arg: u made the most basic, classic stupid, arg on the subject => ur stupid is actually the complete opposite of what u report.

  • @psistarpsi80

Like I said, the argument has already been lost even before you resorted to the petty name calling.

I can make neither head nor tail of anything you're saying. Your arg is the AAH of what??

    Try again please.

I have spent a good deal of time discussing this, and in every case -without exception- the alarmists have been unable to form a sentence, let alone a cogent argument.

I'm waiting in vain hope that *somebody* here has thought this through in an honest way.

  • Soon as Gore starts talking, you can see and feel how full of shit he really is.

  • Al Gore uses the gas guzzling private Jet in the US. He is a big FAT liar!!

  • Al Gore is not a scientist he is a politician (salesman who stands to temporarily gain a big bank cheque. He is a lier and a heartless evil person who is in the same party as George Bush Junior and Senior Bill & Hillary Clinton and Obama. Watch the video called 'global warming or global governance'. Al Gore's electricity bill is over $1500. per month. How's that for a carbon foot print.

  • Everyone here is a fucking idiot. He said Yes, he consumes energy, but it is clean energy. It doesn't matter how much you consume if it is clean energy because it is NOT releasing any green house gases morons!

  • @shroomin79 at last found a sane person. Jeez i thought i was the only person on this living planet that has reason! I do not understand why the hate for Al gore. He is such a good man. Regardless how much money he has, i dont care bout such trivial issues as i dont have any. He beleives in exactly the same thing i do! I live in a country where I have noticed glaciers retreating. DOnt tell me thts natural cos it god damn well isnt!

  • @madma11 >> I live in a country where I have noticed glaciers retreating.

    So do we Americans.

New York, just a few thousand years ago, was under a thousand foot thick glacier. The rocks in Manhattan's Central Park show the sculpting effect of the deadly ice grinding along.

Thanks to global warming, it is now Green, with forests, bunnies, farms and towns.

Life loves a greenhouse, not a glacier.

  • I want to make this straight: Global Warming does not necessarily mean everywhere its going to get warmer. It means in average! If Gulfstream stops just like it did in the last melting period after massive influx of freshwater conflicted with it, Europe is heading for a century of colder climate. Why would Gulfstream stop? Cos of Greenland melting water today! Its a catastrophe waiting to happen. Once process starts, it will take 10yrs only for it to take effect.

  • @madma11 We Americans are really glad that Global Warming has removed the thick ice sheet from our midwest, leaving behind good topsoil and land we can farm for food.

Heck, even Greenland is becoming green again, as glaciers retreat and ancestors of the Vikings return to their ancestral farmlands.

Global Warming a Boon for Greenland's Farmers

    spiegel*de/international/spiegel/0,1518,434356,00.html

  • @VerumJusticia You americans are therefore the death of this planet. I though Al gore was American and Im pretty sure he is against Global Warming.

  • do as i say not as i do!!!!!!!!!! al gore the great con artist asshole!!!! people dont believe this fraud!!!! there is no global warming!!! its getting colder!!!! hahahaha lol!!!!! climate change well is it not called seasons???

  • he knows anthropogenic climate change is bs it just proved that he is to greedy to reduce his energy use for the climate oh but whats u would but global warming isnt real

  • what a joke

  • Isn't that the same guy who owns his own investment firm and is talking up the price of his "green" investments and socking the expense to tax payers? Anyone I know who would do a fraction of that would be in jail.

  • Scientists threatened for 'climate denial'

    By Tom Harper

Scientists who questioned mankind's impact on climate change have received death threats and claim to have been shunned by the scientific community.

They say the debate on global warming has been "hijacked" by a powerful alliance of politicians, scientists and environmentalists who have stifled all questioning about the true environmental impact of carbon dioxide emissions

Carbon Trading, Carbon Taxes, government (taxpayer) subsidies

  • How ironic is it that he can afford more expensive forms of utility, owns the idea of everyone transforming to cleaner energy and has green buck, waiting to cash in. While it sounds like I will have get a hamster wheel and run on it while generating my own electricity. And here he sits and can't simply take his own pledge. Douchbag!

  • Al

    Whore

    Says

    It

    All

  • straight up politics: only respond to questions you want to hear....what a dick

  • I went to Vietnam. The air is so polluted and hot in the city because people used alot of fossil energy for motocycle. People have to wear mask when going outside.

  • @xenoc 2 cycle engines are common in Asia and result in more pollution, such as seen in the US in the 60's & 70's.

  • I have Gore-aphobia.

  • I'm a bit confused. I understand that he didn't answer the question, but if he had they wouldn't have let him explain, which seems necessary to me. If he is using green energy-the kind that supposedly doesn't contribute to global warming(which I still am not confinced is a crisis, or even an issue at all), why does it matter that he uses so much more energy than the average American?

Please someone enlighten me. Thnk you!

Have a blessed day! In Christ, jessi

  • Because he is preaching things that WILL cause you and I much discomfort, as we do not have his wealth do insulate ourselves.

NO ordianary American can AFFORD the costs of the actions he proposes, and the fact that the BIGGEST polluters won't commit means our suffering will be in vain.

  • Because the truth is, Al Gore doesnt care about the environment. He served South American Sea Bass at his daughters wedding reception. (on the endangered species list). even greenpeace said he couldnt of chosen a worse entre. I personally dont care if AL Gore spends a million dollars a year and dirty coal produced electricity. Hes asking everyone to double there electric bill while he will make profit off of them.

  • Its not really true that he uses green energy and thus doesnt contribute to co2 emmissions. He buys carbon credits,, and that allows him to continue with his usual carbon footprint and then show that he doesnt. That is the immense scam and flaw of the political end of it. He also flies around the globe in his private jet that emmits a great deal of co2,, even though like he advises us to do, he could take commercial flights. He is a hypochrite.

  • @jssicow Could you afford additional costs as he could? Isn't that key to this conversation? Can you afford an extra $50, $100, $200 a month in energy costs? Al could foot $1,000 a month or more and not even flinch...can you?

  • that room has got to smell terrible by the end of the day from all the BS spewing all over everything

  • IF BS could be converted into energy, Al Gore spits out enough of it to supply all our energy needs!!!

Notice he NEVER gave a straight answer to a simple question...

  • al gore is a snake oil salesmen. what is the best way to jack the public? create a money making scheme then get the government to force the people to pay you to comply...

  • Al Gore is a lying misleading dangerous man profitting from this whole global warming scam.....

    AWAKEN O SHEEP

  • There is no such thing as scientific "opinion". Science IS NEVER based on opinion or consensus. Of course, when it comes to junk science opinion and propaganda are much more important than fact. Right Al?

Gravity is fact. The Earth being round, is fact. Global warming is opinion, NOT FACT! Hollywood movies telling you something is fact does not make it so. Anyone can film a bear swimming next to an iceberg and claim it's because of cow farts in Iowa. DOESN'T MAKE IT FACTUAL SCIENCE!!!!

  • Al Gore is so full of shit its pathetic! This whole Global Warming hoax is pathetic!

How come the weather man fucks up his prediction every week but when it comes to GW the same people can somehow predict minute temperature differences 50 years from now???

    - He flies on airplanes.

    - He uses more electricity than anyone else.

    - He drives SUVs.

    - He owns the companies that sell carbon credits.

Yet somehow seemingly intelligent people get caught up in all his phony crap! Simply incredible!

  • Amen.

We are witnessing a social experiment and we are looking in at the zombies while the masters pull strings to make them dance.

Its scary. I bet If the democrats told these people to kill themselves and their children or else the boogey man will cut the world in half they would DO IT, O_O

  • I've been trying to track down the companies he owns. Could you send any links you have to my mailbox? Thanks

  • doesn't Gore get his electricity off the grid like the rest of us?

  • he may, but why not live in a small house and let the power he doesnt use offset someone elses carbon output?

  • James Inhofe TOLD him not to answer with gimmicks such as offsets and credits so they don't have to change their lifestyles.

  • Global warming suckers... look at your green god of climate BS squirm.

Obey your master... do as Gore says, not as Gore does.

  • yes or no dumb ass STFU liar

  • My God the hill got it right. Kick his ass.

  • They called al gore's bluff. Al gore is a fake ass Chump...FAKE LIAR.

Al gore is little bitch that can't commit to his own piece of shit campaign.

    Fake...dog.

  • yeah this is how al gore make a lot of money

man made global warming is his cash cow

im no bush fan but im sure glad he was never president this gays a walking scam job

  • This ass is making money on retarded peoples Fears.

  • Unlike Iraq, right?

  • So you wanna be like Iraq? Iraq uses fear why not American politicians?

  • No sorry, I meant (sarcastically) "unlike Bush who didn't make money on retarded peoples fears?". The Bush administration were the real fear mongers. Gore is just telling it how it is.

  • At this rate Gore is gonna have more blood on his hands than Hitler.

He has joined a Group of Environmentalists who have already killed over 80 million people with bans on the 3rd world.

If he succeeds he will have made billions of dollars killing another 65 million in Africa alone.

  • Hmmm, do you have a source where you got this information? I'm not sure what you mean by some "Group of Environmentalists" or this "ban on the 3rd world" thing. Also, have you seen an "Inconvenient Truth"?

  • The IPCC has roughly 24 actual scientists.. the other 2450+ are politicians and activists. By activists I mean Greenpeace members and other extremists.

The British High Court removed "Inconvenient Truth" from schools. 11 inaccuracies were found. "Political" "Alarmist"

Later the pictures and data were found to be falsified.

The DDT ban, cause millions of deaths.

offsets/carbon credits discussed in this video.. Gore purchases them from companies he owns..

google or wiki, I ran out of space.

  • Do you have a specific source/url?

  • From YOUR article about An Inconvenient Truth:

"the judge did not dismiss the film's mainstream argument..."It is important to be clear that the central arguments put forward in An Inconvenient Truth, that climate change is mainly ...man-made emissions of greenhouse gases and will have serious adverse consequences, are supported by the vast weight of scientific opinion. Nothing in the judge's comments today detract from that." "

  • I mean you need to read that . The judge said the man-made emissions causing serious consequence are supported by a vast weight of scientific "Opinion".

Meaning he did not say their argument was invalid just that the information in the film was wrong.

Then you have the article I gave you showing their vast weight (IPCC) was destroying evidence and falsifying data.

Most of the scientific community never questioned the science in the film until this ruling. Now +30,000 scientists disagree.

  • The judge also said that global warming is MAN MADE! Who gives a flying f-ck about the other stuff if millions of people are going to die from fossil fuel burning?!!?

Again... have you actually seen An Incovenient Truth?

  • No he didn't.

He said that central argument of film, being man made is supported by scientific opinion.

He took a non-partial stance for the Court and sided against "Inconvenient Truth". Which was deemed political propaganda.

If you also read CO² is not a pollutant, and does not increase the temperature of the Earth.

  • Again...have you actually seen An Inconvenient Truth? The whole thing. Not a trailer or script or clip, etc.

Have you or have you not?

  • I already told you I did, in the message I sent you with the sources..

  • If it is so important, why not put in on netflixs or youtube for free?

  • i saw it, it is such BS

  • The bafoonery that exits this man's mouth... and so many acutally believe him... evading the question with such skill, and turning it back around on states needing to lift restrictions for solar blah blah what the fudge??? PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH, AL! We can see through you and we are helping others to see the same

  • What a dickhead

  • Thats just typical. The guy thinks he is above having to use what the rest of us use just cause he pays a little more for it. Guess what Al we use a lot of wind energy where I live too but we still don't use anywhere near the amount of energy you do.

  • "we use green energy in our home, it costs a litle more, and uh, that's the, uh reason it like ummm, you know, like costs a little more." that's right Al Gore; you such a great person because you has enough excess money to pay for expensive fuel. Bravo! why can't other people follow your example and just be rich? that's what I want to know. why do billions of people in the world insist on living under the poverty line? fucking bastards!!!!!!!

  • As if spending money on wind mills justifies his extravigant life of consumption, Gore is a con artist. His work to promote globalism put the world economy on steriods accelerating global warming. We cannot ever build enough windmills and solar panels to make that problem go away.

  • Absolutely right - Gore is a liar and a hypocrite, who uses 20 times more energy than the average person, as revealed by a utilities company in Nashville, where he lives in one of his mansions.

A disgusting con man, to be sure !

  • @AriesLudzik wouldnt you? if you had tons of money. now atleast he's done better than bush and actually raised the attention to global warming which is good. anyone with money will use it to make their life easier. I dont blame him.

  • @SweRaider1993 >> now atleast he's done better than bush and actually raised the attention to global warming

No... Bush is the guy who started converting our nation to Hydrogen fuel, generated by Geothermal energy, to wean our nation off oil. That's why Al Gore trotted out his movie and got our politicians to divert funding into corn ethanol, an environmentally devastating fuel.

The Democrats HAD to stop Bush from actually solving the alleged problem - and killing their cash cow!

  • "Thank you so much for the question" is always the first thing that comes to mind when they really DON'T want to answer the question. It doesn't take "a minute" to say "yes" or "no" so why does he babble on forever and a day and doesn't come close to giving the answer to the question: "Will you subscribe to the pledge you're asking every other American to take?" Answer is "NO." (More precisely, "Hell, No!")

  • Wow, can't even answer a yes or no question. A true politician.

  • When will people realize just how much money Al Gore is making off this so called apedemic. All he cares about is self-importance and the "green" in his account.

  • When HE starts telling people that he HAS made money off of this; so never.

  • That's a trap for Al Gore and it's humiliating.

  • Gotcha, Gore.

  • al gore misled america first

  • If you are a Christian there is a place in the Bible that says that we are to protect the world and all the it holds not use is for our personal gain. Gore is giving back far more than he is taking. How about you.

  • His is doing all he can to wake us up and if is takes some resources the resources are a drop in the bucket compared to what the world is taking and not giving back.

  • I would rather see someonone spend the money time and resources to help save what we still have that see people use the resources and not give back. Our way of live is to take and not give back.

  • Al Gore is trying to save the earth, He is spending his own money. It costs time money and and his own jets to get the word out to reach the people hopefully in time.

  • Gore is trying to say that he buys green energy and that green energy is more expencive so he can't say yes to the pledge to use less ragular forms of energy and the came cost for it because he is using a different kind of energy already and is already using green energy only that costs much more. I find no sign on Hypocritcy. He is paying more for green energy to protect the world. People only hear what they want too. Listen again to what Gore said again...

  • I find the hypocrisy when someone who flies around in private jets tells me to "save the earth." Also, have you ever noticed the trash that gets left on the group after "Earth Day" rallies? You think those hippies clean up after themselves?

  • Gas bag Gore buys his btu hungry lifestye...liberal hypocrite.

  • When will these people understand that we are not talking about the amount of energy consumed but the fact that this energy is generated by 'green sources' and doesn't release CO2 into the atmosphere?

    What a bunch of TWATS!!!!!!!!!

  • You have to spread awareness of the problem, so you have to travel and get in touch with the people. Simply put, sometimes you have to go backwards before you can go forward. The amount of awareness raised from traveling and spreading the word by people like Gore to address the problem will offset these individual CO2 emissions billions of times over. The same is true of the Live Earth concerts. How can you not understand this?? Stop taking cheap shots and start taking responsibility.

  • Im so tired of hearing about al gore is a hypocrit? First of all, he buys green energy and has long been "carbon neutral," meaning for every bit of CO2 he puts in the atmosphere, he pays to remove that amount of CO2 from the energy grid by paying them a premium to replace that energy with "clean energy"..essentially offsetting his pollution. Furthermore, Gore has contributed more to the solution than most of you could ever dream of doing.

  • Carbon neutral my ass. He puts MORE carbon dioxide in the air. How long do you think he'll have to run all those alleged solar panels to offset all that fuel his private jet uses?

  • He lives in a 22 room mansion and has a heated swimming pool. His daughter drives a Maserati and his son is a speeding drunk/pothead/pill-popper, how is he supposed to get by on the same energy as you or I?

He also does not seem to realize that energy is fungible - that is, that if he is using more from the windmill, someone else cannot.

    Hypocritical gasbag.

  • Oversees, by using as much energy from a windmill as possible, the demand increases, when the demand increases the electricity doesn't simply run out, they build more windmills. The question was BS. The pledge should read, do you pledge to leave a carbon footprint no greater than the avg US citizen. I don't know what his answer would be as his occupation takes a lot of energy, but that would be a more legit question IMO

  • he needs the peasants to use less so he can use more..

  • Al Gore's Mansion is not installed with solar panels and he has increase his own energy use!

Gore's mansion uses 20 times the energy as the average American household!

And after Inconvenient Truth Gore's consumption increased 14%!

    nysun(DOT)com/article/49438

  • Gore's lifestyle is a good example for us all. He buys carbon-neutral electricity. He's installing solar power on his home, for every pound of CO2 caused by other activities, he cleans it up by funding projects that reduce CO2. He is spending his life trying to make sustainable practices available to all of us. What more do you want? If we all lived like Gore, the situation would improve. Don't shoot the messenger just because you dread the news.

  • Yeah, and his daughter is racing around in a Maserati Quattroporte - a 400 Horsepower globe-boiler. See the video of when his pothead/speeding/DUI son got released from the hoosegow.

  • If we all lived like Gore, then we should all have Maseratis, 22 room mansions, chauffeured Cadillacs, and private jets. How long do you think all those solar panels would have to be run just so he can offset the fuel his private jet uses? Yeah, save the earth, but don't you dare criticize Hollyweirdo hypocrites who whine about oil but fly around in private jets!

  • the guy asking the questions was a total idiot, its not about the energy you use its about the CO2 that it produces, he doesnt produce any CO2 with his energy consumption, hes not a hypocrite, i hope we re-elect in 2008. just think how many lives we would have saved if he the elections of 2000 would have been just to all americans. theres nothing wrong with Republicans just people who rather run this democracy into the ground for their own personal gain, its un patriotic

  • I don't expect to see this video clip shown on CBS 60 Minutes this weekend or discussed on the front page of the NY TIMES.

  • Shows Gore to be the liberal hypocrite we always knew he was. He will not limit his energy consumption. Forget the 'green power'. Because he uses 10 times the national average, that's 9 homes that could have used that power instead of carbon based fuel. Inhoffe was brilliant and clearly owned Gore here.

  • The point is not how much energy he uses - that doesn't matter. What matters is how much CO2 he is responsible for emitting. We get near infinite amounts of energy from the sun, and if he gets his energy directly from the sun using solar panels, then his home emits ZERO CO2.

  • So then, rich people are entitled to more energy use. Is that it? Liberal elistist point of view.

  • The pledge was to get his home energy consumption down to the national average (also means 3 people approx. 2047 sqr feet) Gore has to house a secret service security detail, has purchased a large house etc etc. It was a showboating tactic on Inhofe's part. Oh yeah, he's asking American's to 'reduce' their carbon emission. Al Gore has set a standard as his net emissions are 0

  • Only if there is a way to see how much co2 Gore has helped put into the atmosphere through means of travelling on airplanes and going on his little charades.

  • Yes, because Gore, by himself, flies SO much that it actually offsets all the changes he's hoping to make by shifting public opinion. Oh, that and he does offset all his airplane flights through carbon credits. Regardless of the fact you don't like them, and think they're a gimmick for the rich, they still work.

  • What a fuck is a carbon credit? Please explain to me what exactly it is without laughing at how ridiculous it is. I have never denied man-made global warming. I just think Al Gore is a tool/hypocrite. Also if Gore is putting a hell of a lot more co2 in the atmosphere it is kind of hard to follow someone like that.

  • If he was flying to Bermuda on holidays every weekend, I'd agree. However, he's flying to China and places like that to convince them not to build hundreds of new coal plants. If successful, that more than makes up for the emissions following from his flying.

  • The video should be called "Senator Inhofe makes a fool of himself asking irrelevant questions". Surprised he didn't ask for a pledge to switch from a blue car to a green one! The point is not how much energy is used but how much greenhouse gas the usage leads to. If Gore's energy use comes from renewable sources (even home-grown renewable energy!), it's irrelevant how much energy he uses. Inhofe is deserately trying to divert attention from Gore's message by attacking the messenger.

  • I beg to differ it being irrelevant. He has the money that it doesn't personally hurt him. It shows he doesn't have the balls to sacrafice for it to show people and lead people to follow suit. Even if he cut his energy in half it would be something. But he won't.

  • It's not energy that's the problem. We have energy (in the form of coal and oil, and wind and sunlight). It's how much CO2 is emitted as a result of the energy use. With renewable energies, such as the stuff he's using, his home emits close to no CO2, so Inhofe's point is irrelevant.

  • exactly. The same tactics the Tabacco company's use. They destroy the messengers and flip the facts, present half truths and try to paint anti-tabacco, environmentalist, as hypocrites.

  • That is funny. The woman rep. came to Gore's defense. LOL. But yet the question is a yes or no question. The guy never answers the actual question. Therefore it must be a 'no'. It is so ridiculous. It takes him 2 seconds to answer and he didn't and then he got more time and still didn't.

  • It's a trick question - saying yes would be stupid because the question is stupid. Saying no makes him look like he's a liar. Instead, he explains why the question is problematic.

  • And why is it problematic? He won't change his energy output? Because he can afford CO2 credits? Because he can afford energy that doesn't put out CO2? He can afford comfortable living and it doesn't hurt him and he doesn't have to sacrafice. If he can show more sacrafice his point will be taken by others as a tad more sincere.

  • The question is problematic because the phraseology is ridiculous. The whole preamble to the 'pledge' says that he would be doing it to support his claims about climate change. Gore is saying he doesn't need to consume less energy because none of the energy used to power his house adds carbon to the atmosphere. So actually it's already covered.

  • So basically why even do anything else but just get that energy then? Well I guess I don't have to worry because the power I use comes from a nuclear power plant which doesn't have co2 pollution. Also Gore does consume probably a ridiculous amount more energy when it comes to flying. So yeah.

  • Plus it's a ridiculous question by Imhofe that has nothing to do with the subject at hand. The fact that Gore is wealthy has nothing to do with whether or not carbon dioxide is causing global warming.

  • Sacrifice in itself is not virtuous. We could all sit in the dark if we wanted, but that's pointless if you have invested in energy generating tech such as solar panels and are self sufficient. He's even asking for an Electranet that'd allow people to sell excess energy to others.

  • How about Al Gore start a program with donated money to get people energy that doesn't cause a co2 pollution for the same or lower than there other power. Instead of just wanted government this and that. Thats the difference between socialists and conservatives. Conservatives think if there is a problem they won't just automatically go to the government to fix it.

  • In other words, us little people have to commit to drastic life style changes in order to curb global warming (which Gore himself says is no longer within our capability to stop), but Gore himself doesn't. He can just waste all the resources he wants, then use his wealth to buy "offsets" and "credits".

Don't Democrats call that "stealing from the poor to give to the rich"?
