  • I just bought one of these a couple of weeks ago. The amp works great, but the turntable needs a new idler wheel, which is on order. It is the 1960 model with am/fm radio too. I am replacing the phono cartridge with a magnetic type. The one in there was bad, and I have an old Shure cartridge on hand that will do the trick. I'll mount a phono preamp between the turntable and the amp. Should work out great when it's all done.

  • I hate to break it to ya, but that is not original... Its been restored with modern hardware.

  • Cool unit..

I Just picked up A set like yours but the set I have Has a Am/FM/record Player/ And TV Set..Need Help finding date unit was made please

  • i need a photo of underside of idler wheel to see where the idler tension spring goes. i am missing mine. will have to get one that keeps the idler up against the drive spindle.

  • omg! this is so awesome!!!!

  • Good work repairing the turntable and amp in it . Not too many guys know or have knowledge how to do that .

  • its great to have the matching speaker to don't worry bout throwing out the changer they are not that big of a deal

I just restored a Motorola but it did not have the matching speaker so I mated it with a magnavox bookshelf speaker and it sounds great

  • @force311999 I since found a matching speaker for it

  • Love this kind of old equipment! It looks great

  • Beautiful piece of equipment!

  • I love the mechanisms on these old record players.

They are all different yet so fascinating to watch.

Even as a kid I was mesmerised.

Digital things are so dull in comparison

  • awsime job, well done! whats the song name?

  • @TheJuicyfruitx Johnny Cash- ring of fire

  • What is that black round thing?

  • my grandmother still have her 59 60 ish record player i forgot what brand it was

  • NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE!

  • sounds good thx

  • Now thats cool, mine radiogram is nowhere as good as yours.

  • It's a beauty.

My Motorola "Hi-Fidelity StereoPhonic" needs a needle but it's days are numbered 'cause of that little plastic wheel that drives the interior edge of the turntable, and my tubes get too hot and I have to shut it down before it blows like the last one, lol.

Right now I'm upset about the cartridge on my Sony HP-310, and can't find even any reviews on that unit on-line let alone parts.

  • @xxxMrSuspendedxxx the wheels are available from "the voice of music" or "retro electronics"

  • @force311999 Well that unit is in the landfill now, sadly. It looked to me like that "wheel" was a permanent part of the motor shaft. Maybe not, I don't know.

  • @xxxMrSuspendedxxx the caps may me starting to go bad is there some hum you don't want to use it till you get it recapped

  • I would kill for this record player.

  • GOT ONE FOR SALE HER IN OREGON $100.00 GETS IT PICTURE TO COME

  • That's nice but whats-a,matter, moe, you don't talk? But you could say a few words here and there no? It's beautiful bro.....

  • Very very nice player...love it!

  • Aux speaker. What a find!!

  • This is my favorite turntable, I have a 64 modle that's slightly different. This is the one I'm looking for. And what a great console with an six speak

  • johnny Cash! love that song!

  • That's a beautiful set and sound! I just bought a twin set of the same style, but light oak cabinets and an AM FM radio. It and yours is called the "Belvedere". I want the tv too. Lots of luck!

  • @64098 Thanks for the info! I'd like to see a vid of your Magnavox sometime!

  • @dynatrak I'll try sometime, but it won't be as good as yours.

  • @dynatrak I have one similar to yours, but it has a radio Tuner as well. I also have the original manual, and purchase receipt. Do you know of a good web-site I can visit to find out more info?

  • I love my Magnavox TV/record player/Stereo it is so cool and everything works it was also made in 1959.They made them to last. I bought a 42 inch TV flat screen and almost 2 years and it went out. I do need a new needle for the phono I only paid 80 dollars.

  • Great system! I love those old Mags, had a few back in the day. They have that unique, warm sound. Really enjoyed your video. Thanks.

  • Nice!

  • what needle dos it yuos

  • That stereo(one internal speaker and one external speaker) is a gem. Oddly, that tone arm will travel from the edge of the record label to the resting post, travel quarter-way toward the spindle, then back to the resting post. I wonder why.

  • It's checking to see if another record is stacked on the spindle when it comes back out a quarter-way. If no record it goes back to the resting post, and shuts off.

  • @arhuxtable it is feeling for the presents of a record or its size

  • awesome. i have the big daady version of this exact machine. meaning mine is a six speaker stereo model. it belonged to my great aunt who died this year at the age of 101. i love that machine. it screams and has tone from another planet. best part is it takes the same tubes as fender guitar amps. rock on

  • I have this exact system, that my Great Grandparents used to own. I'm looking forward to restoring it. I don't think mine will clean up quite as nice though :-)

  • Awesome! I'm looking forward to seeing it. I'm still looking for the tv that goes with this set.

  • I love it! I really want to find a nice antique record player. Thank you so much for sharing this video!

  • It Does Not Get Any Better Than This, A Johnny Cash Classic On A Classic Vintage Player, His Voice Sounds So Rich & Warm Coming From That Beautiful Valve Driven amp. VINYL RULES!

  • Hay man i like the record player. I just found one that is in the same condition on the STREET! Mine looks like your but it has an AM FM radio in it, would you know anything about it

  • Thanks! That's awesome you found one. Heck yeah I'd like to see a video of it.

  • Love your record player, do you think there might be some more Magnavoxs out there. Thanks! :) for a responce!

Also great song- "Ring of Fire!"

  • What a great story! Restoring your family's old record player, i have a bunch and the original cabinet to my grandmother's but the record changer and tuner are long gone, it was a 1950 westinghouse. (mono).

  • such good quality music for an old old system! well done for restoring it! a burning ring of fire!!

  • Very good, thank you:)

  • It's wonderful to see & hear your restored console. Such fine quality & true workmanship in these machines. In comparison, today's stuff seems slapped together, and when a problem comes up it's often cheaper to replace than repair.

  • Thanks! My Grandparents have owned 2 stereo systems since this one, and this one has outlasted both.

  • I bet your grandfather was thrilled to see this working again!

  • he sure was!

  • I have one too.

  • I'd like to see a video of it sometime!

  • i have one just like this, andi got a little problem with it, the needle drops down before the record does and i dont know how to fix it, anyone have any ideas?

  • Respect man! Darn good job.

  • Beautiful!

  • YES! It had the matching speaker unit and the whole thing was 35 bucks. Absolutely original, everything intact...I'm so mad at myself even now LOLOL!

  • Man that was a pretty good price, maybe another set will come along though. I use mine a lot since I replaced the capacitors in the amp. My Grandfather said he paid $150 for it brand new.

  • I could kick myself. Three years ago I ran across a pristine identical model at an antiques consignment store for 35 dollars. I passed it up.

  • Yeah I'm glad my Grandparents kept this one. I never knew why until I got it working again.

It sounds amazing. I'd like to find the matching tv someday. Did the one you passed up include the external speaker for 35 bucks?

  • Nice song, johnny cash ring of fire, i got that on my tony hawk underground 2 video game. I have that same exact printer scanner copier its made by canon

  • Yep that is a great song! I got the Canon printer back in July, and so far it's been a good one.

  • hell yeah ive scanned so much shit with it and allthough the "getting ready to print" part of it is a little slow it makes up with printing really fast and being able to scan and copy and it can read memory card but sadly not write to them but i can use a kids sansa shaker mp3 player to read from and write to the card

  • Very nice looking and sounds great too! I have a Magnavox which uses that amp but it's a little bit later console with both stereo speaker systems in one cabinet.

  • Really nice restoration on that Magnavox Record player. It does sound like new.

  • Thanks! It had been sitting around for years, and I finally got around to fixing it up. Now I'd like to find the matching tv that went with this set.

  • Awesome, sounds and works great! Makes me want to fix my 1958 Magnavox too. It's smaller than your, but has the same turntable. Itz stereo too, but I need to find a matching extension speaker for it.

  • Nice, clean great sounding example of this model. Congratulations on your work!
