GUYS, this is a manual, not auto, thus he's getting the 20s overboost function activated since he's under hard acceleration. This also explains why his arrow goes way into the red zone than you're used too.
the overboost function is only on the manual aero, extra 20+torque
i drive an 01 95 and the fastest ive gotten it to is 115mph but i wasnt pinned at my rpms yet. The sport funtion makes a big differance when using it between 60-115 foro acceleration.
thklinge, your turbo needle goes way inside the redline. I have an auto and when it was not tuned, it wouldn't get that much in the red line. Probably it is the overboost function. Your 100-160 seems below 6 secs which is too fast for a standart spec.
saabs specialise in 60-100+ great for overtaking my brother used to have 1 and fair enuff off the mark not the quickest but when u wanna overtake and stuff on motorways its in a different leauge...
The "turbo needle" dosnt show the boost presure. It shows how much Air the engine is using at that time. Many people think that its a boost gauge... ;)
So if you want to se you boost presure get a boost gauge.
No, the reason the Saab is soooo quick & why the engine is sooo themominal, is because of the light pressure turbo which vertually produces a good, even boost for idle to the redline
Very fast car this!! My parents own a '02 9-5 Aero Estate from which the needle of the boost-gauge does enter the red (altough not as much as this one), but I definitely can not believe this is a stock Aero!
I also own an aero and have seen many videos from these cars. The best time i have seen for a stock one for 100-150 in 3rd was 5.5sec. This car needs about 4.5sec! So i would say the car has about 290-300HP
I guess the guys at AVIS will be happy to hear that they have the worlds most powerful stock Saab 9-5 Aero ;) I doubt that they would do modifications to a rental car but they did warn me that the car had a "very powerful engine" when I picked up the keys.
Also, the video is unedited. The video was recorded using a Sony Digital Camera, copied to the computer and posted on YouTube. Unless Sony cameras are known to get their FPS wrong, I'd say you're mistaken, sorry.
There is no way to do this with a stock aero! And there is also something strange. The turbo needle goes by a stock aero never in the red area. Believe me i know what i am talking about. My 9-5 had 310PS when when i dynoed it and after that did also a similar video. 100-180 time was exactly the same as this car! 9.4sec. But if you like you can believe, that this is a stock 9-5.
I have a 230hp 9-5 Aero and the needle goes into the red area whan I'm at full throtle. If you read the owner's manual you'll see that it can go to the red area for short periods of time. When it gets to the limited electronic speed the turbo gauge goes back into the yellow area. Anyway, it can be stock... but running a slight downhill.
Looks fairly stock, not much of a tune as it only boost's mid red. My 900 is modified and pins the turbo on red and It is boosting around 18psi. So I would say this Aero is stock, or maybe minor things done to it, but nothing special.
Very nice car thlinge my mum is getting a 2005 saab 2.3 hot aero black estate on the 13th febuary 12 days from today im so excited lol cos i got a test drive in it wow did it sound nice when giving it full throttle

Hey, does anyone know how to activate the headlight wiper? I just bought 2001 and it didn't come with the car. Sweetest car I've ever driven!!!

Usually work when you activate the washers, but only when lights are on.

Excellent car to drive. Passing power up a hill loaded is damn good, as I've experienced.

i think its fast, top speed 250 km/h ?? 60-130 km/h on this car is faster than a porsche 911 turbo...it´s true!!!
svennenmatte 4 years ago 14
240?it isnt so much for the saab.I know fasters.
rozzlobenimuzi 4 years ago
i will hit 250km/h. mini did, and it was the 230hp 2001 model, in estate version.
bastardjunkie 3 years ago
@svennenmatte iff its true, why can i not find a movie about 911vs saab aero ?? :S
m3poower 1 year ago
@m3poower Cause any 911 owner will not run against a family sedan. And i to own a 9-5 Aero 40 - 70 MPH is faster then a 911 turbo.

Woo, what a themominal engine, but I think the turb o relies on the performance

Of course this Aero has been modified. As someone already said, the needle would never go into red that much if everything was original.
