I love this kid! He is the coolest 10 year old dude in the entire coutry! He re,inds me od myself in his beleifs. His smartass comment kust makes my respect for him grow. go EQUAL rights.
A very brave, wise child with an equally brave and wise dad. i taught in public schools for 21 years and never once said the pledge. I would stand in the back of the room when the announcement came over the PA so that the children wouldn't see that I wasn't saying it. Unfortunately I would probably have lost my job if the powers that be had seen me. My reasons were twofold; gay rights (my brother is gay) and the "under God" thing. Saying the pledge has always seemed somewhat fascist to me.
hes not a lil faggot, hes atleast taking a stand for what most of us want and even though he looks like the typical littlesmartass, he's got a valid point. For instance, i refuse to pledge because im non religious and it does say "under god", so this kid has a good point.
Man, I wish I was that awesome when I was 10! He is obviously brilliant, and a breath of fresh air with all those elementary school buttheads calling everything they don't like "gay". I would love to talk to that kid!
Never going to happen when you have Religion getting in the way of it's BELIEFS!! So much for State and religion to be separate? Never going to happen!
Then again there always going to be close minded people! Always and most of it is religious people!
I am religious and I support gay rights. I understand that religious groups are a larg part of the problem, but there are those of us really trying to change this. Try to be a little more open minded :)
I completely agree with this child. He is obviously a very intelligent, consciencious boy who is only standing up for what he believes in. But I find it ironic that John Roberts doesn't know what a "gaywad" is...
Smart kid. Smarter than anyone who thinks marriage is sacred in a nation where divorce is legal for any reason, including boredom. Or that homosexuality is "wrong" because it's less common.
This is an exceptional boy and an exceptional father. I think it's great the way dad is supporting his son's stand even though he doesn't seem all that thrilled with it.
I absolutley LOVE this kid. I haven't said the pledge in 2 years for that reason. Although I don't think 10-year olds should know things about sex and stuff, I'm so glad that a young person is making a stand about this. <3
This kid is amazing. I love what he's doing. I stopped saying the pledge in junior high (in college now) and I got all sorts of grief for it. I never had the balls to tell my teachers to go jump off a bridge. If I have kids, I want them to be like this one.
i'm really impressed w/ this kid. he's much more of a patriot and more similar to the founders of this country than dobbs, o'reilly, beck and that ilk put together.
This intelligent boy has more honesty, integrity, and fortitude than most adults will muster in a lifetime. Sadly, such individuals are the exception rather than the rule; the world would be a much better place if the converse were true. I expect he will go far in life. His parents should be proud.
In other news House Minority Leader John Boehner upon learning of this incident quipped, "The little brat obviously hates America," and promised to introduce legislation requiring all students in public schools to pledge allegiance to the flag "or be expelled until they do." He continued, "When Republicans take back this country in 2010 and 2012, there will be zero tolerance for smart-assed little kids who think they can thumb their noses at the US flag and all the great freedoms it represents."
This video brings a tear to my eyes ... it gives me hope but also makes me sad to know that a 10 yr old has more sense than many who are ten times his age. My little hero!
I don't wish to comment on the Pledge directly but applaud this young man's determination to see fairness for all citizens.
The issue that caught my attention is that the democratic process that allows citizens to vote on an issue (of gay marriage) that (if they are not gay) will not directly affect their own lives, happiness or legal rights. It would be exactly the same principle as a population of 90%-95% gay people voting whether to allow straight marriage.

Kid has more reason in his 10 years of life then 50 year olds.
More importantly I wonder how many Right wingers who espouse love of America know the Pledge was written by a "Socialist" Frank Bellamy and the "liberty and justice for all" part is actually a socialist mantra.
amazing a ten year old actually holds the literal word to its meaning. and in arkansas whod'a thunk. evangelicals, republicans try and argue with this ten year old.
