  • "like a soldier, one foot infront of the other" Lord I love yah Regina :)

  • Nothing like a song about a bitchy murdress...

  • Mary Ann had a man named Frederick Cotton,

    Later that day after dinner,

    His intestines felt rotten...

  • Yeah, I just figured out that the line: "He loved her pudding" is a reference to the nursery rhyme about Mary Ann Cotton. Also, the line: "Miss Mary Ann kept her cans in alphabetical order", I think is a reference to the fact that people used to keep Arsenic in a can, so Arsenic would come first. They used to use Arsenic as rat poison. Arsenic was the poison that Mary Ann Cotton added to the food to kill all the people she killed.

  • Apparently, Mary Ann Cotton killed at least 21 people, including her first 2 husbands, her 4th husband, one of her lovers, her friend, her mother, her first 11 children, and her 5 step-children. Husband #3, James Robinson, discovered that she was stealing from him to pay off her debts. She poisoned all those people for insurance money to use to pay off her debts. Her trial was delayed a while because she was pregnant with child #12. Also, a nursery rhyme was written about her after her hanging.

  • i love the end i just want to sing it out load and have somesay god bless and respong with oh no its part of a song

  • Why am I surprised with her genius after every new song I listen to?

  • She must know someone named Mary Ann who she REALLY doesn't like

  • I always think of those water color people you see on the JC Penny's commercials or something when this song plays. Lol I have no Idea why lmao.

  • One time the priest at my school gave a homily in which he said something along the lines of "It's like two porcupines making love: they must be gentle and patient" (yeah, he was awesome and I miss him!!). I always connect that with this song. Weird.

  • Lol, I've wached this video like a thousand times but I only just realised it says "Marry Ann" (Instead of Mary Ann). xD

  • turn it up and you can get a bass-earthquake! (:

  • Bless you :B

  • I always think of this song when someone makes a "get back in the kitchen" joke.

  • jazzy baby, jazzy!

  • This song makes me hungry.

  • Mary Ann's a micomanaging control-freak

  • I had this song turned up loud and when she made the "aachoo" noise at the end I jumped out of my chair.

  • she is sooo dirty

  • uhmmmm, this is sexy....

  • It could be inspired by the book Lamb to the Slaughter or i think for me its about mary ann a serial killer ....either way this song is so BEAUTIFULL...love the bass , adore her voice...& thats true lyrics right there ! :)

  • If you noticed, she references this song not just in "Sailor Song" but also "Loveology".

    "Porcupine-ology"?

    "Antler-ology"?

  • I would have punched her in her ovaries >.>

  • I love her voice in this song...and all her other songs...but especially this song

  • haha the sneeze is so cute n.n

  • @kicica13212 its in reference to sailor song

  • why did she kill him, anyway? hmm..

  • maryann is a bitch is from sailor song. this one is about a woman who murders her boyfriend. Is anyone actally listening to the song here?

  • @themessengerofmusic Who is to say it's not the same person? Personally, I think it is entirely appropriate to refer to a murderess as a bitch.

  • I'm guessing she really hates Mary Ann?

  • haha maryann is my name and my friends think this song is the best thing ever to sing to me..

  • Regina Spektor has something against Marry Ann.

  • My name is Mary Anne in english.....lol. But Im pretty sure Im not a bitch...? haha. I love this song, its so awesome! XD

  • hehe luv that sneeze at the end... wonder if its the same Mary Ann in Sailor Song... don't really sound like the same person though

  • It's kind of hard to enjoy this song when your name is Mary Ann...

    But I still do

  • ths is my favorite song for now and forever

WE LOVE U REGINA plz have a show in america soon :)

  • Whenever I meet someone I don't like I'm totally going to say they're such a "Marry Ann" from now on... Now only if I can find someone I can tell this to and have them be as much as a Regina fan as I and understand while also laughing at my terrible attempt at trying to be funny.

  • @LaineAudria

Bahaha! Nice! I might use it, too....but I'll give you credit for the idea. xD

  • @renethel ;)

  • lol YOU GO MARRY ANN!!!!

  • Hehe I like this song but it some what sounds like The Grinch .. ????

  • God bless you! :)

  • i love dog food.

  • mary ann is my mothers name and i always feel awkward singing MARY ANNS A BITCH, MARY ANNS A BIIIITCH, etc.

  • @Thombomb818 Mine too.. I love it.

  • @Thombomb818 That's funny, my ex's mom's name was also Marriane. Of course in her case she was a psycho alcoholic bitch who made her daughter's life hell. So, of course, blasting that song from her room was a pretty solid way to get under her skin!

  • Bless you.

  • i love her songs like this, so simple but so complex at the same time

  • love the base

  • I did not expect the sneeze!

    Gazoontite!

  • she mentions porcupines in loveology too..

it's funny the way some of her songs connect.

  • It's very interesting :) i remember that she also mentions knowledge tree and gravediggers in her other songs. Her lyrics are genuinely brilliant :)

  • man i am in love how she can use such a large variety of vocals in her music and make them work but i did not expect her to use sneezing in her song. i am in awe

  • Is this the same Mary Ann who's a bitch?

    Cause Mary Ann's a bitch, Mary Ann's a bitch.

  • whos this mary ann? she is mentioned in a few songs.

  • @stapleyoureye I believe she may be singing about Mary Ann Cotton. She was an English serial killer.

  • hahaha! choo.
