The ITC version (unauthorized by me: inventor/designer/engineer/project mgr...till I left the factory in China before actual prdn.)of my F-22 was "modded" by them. THAT version -- the only one you can buy -- will NOT fly as shown in this video. If you buy this plane in order to get it to fly as shown in my videos you must first "UNmod" it as shown in great length and detail in the "...Backyrd Bird" RCGroups thread referenced below.
This (and the other videos I posted) basically shows how the Air Rage MicroFighter/StarScream F-22 will fly AFTER you move the motors from the wings (where the factory now puts them) back to their ORIGINAL position on the fins (vertical stabilizers). See RCGroups thread explaining this easy "UNmod"! >> Google: "StarScreamer/ MicroFighter into Backyard Bird!" , especially noting Post #226
hey so im kind of confused. is this the starscream with the original design (vertical fin prop location) or a different plane? the description says "super raptor" with larger motors and stuff so i wasnt sure. if its still the starscream where did u get larger motors for it?
I posted 3 videos. The one indoors used the same size motors as the 2-ch AA/X-Twins. The outdoor videos used a stronger motor, maybe a bit stronger than the "StarScreamer", which has the motors on the wings. The ORIGINAL F-22s in my 3 videos are the same as the "StarScream" except for the motor placement. I believe the motors in the "StarScream" are close to the ones used in my videos.
I strongly believe that the presently sold version, in which "they" moved the motors from my ORIGINAL design -- in which the motors were mounted on the vertical stabilizers, as shown and demonstrated in all the videos I posted, and how it was supposed to be made and shipped, until "they" stupidly CHEATED and changed it after I left the factory -- is very difficult and problematic to fly. Hey Lee. I found your post about the filter/s on some forum. I was wondering if there was anything else to enhance performance out of this plane. I am not too good at modifying this particular flyer... and at 40 dollars, it is just not something I'd keep buying into seeing how this current flyer marks my third sale of this actual aircraft. Thanks
Google: "StarScreamer into Backyard Bird!" and go through from start to finish to find more than you need to know. Moving the motors back to vert-stabs as shown is not very hard if one is reasonably careful, and can even be done without resoldering (see several posts on that in thread). Or minimally UNtape the landing gear so they can knock off, tighten if needed w/ slit in new tape covering foam slit, balance and put CA in shafthole behind them, and tape on paperclip rear weight(see hread).
Hey I appreciate it dude....nice plane...with this information, the possibilities are endless probably. By the way, I was actually thinking of applying some decals and a mild coat of camouflage on the bird... what do you think?
If you keep it very light and do not add more than 0.5 grams it should be ok. Try some kinds of felt tip markers or especially airbrush (there is also a kind of mouth-blown airbrush felt tip marker ink system somewhere)
You can go to Radio Shack, buy one and repeatedly crash it to your heart's content if that is what you find entertaining. From what is noted on the many other videos posted by others about these planes, they can survive a lot of bashing and crashing. Beavis & Butthead would get one just to blow it up. Does that sound like your kind of action ....? (wink)
THIS version, about 30 minutes under power, 2 hours using slope (mechanical) or thermal lift; produced version (lower power, smaller LIPO), about 10-15 minutes under full power, one hour in thermal lift. Lee i dunt get that
Well, that is the result of extensive tests, and of course represents the maximum projected performance. Naturally, loss of slope lift (wind) or thermals, and especially pilot error will drastically reduce that. HOWEVER, relaunching the plane in good lift should give cumulative flight times close to those max projected times. Ans so far as "getting" it, if you mean "understanding", there IS no understanding in true science, merely observation (testing). Right?
