A local contractor had trailers like this about twenty years ago. Funny little red things with sloping back ends. Don't know what make they were though.
probably safer cause stops settled stuff from sitin dat bit of movement....had a scary event durin summer wit redrock afta 20 mile+ draw.....stil do weird and must put fasir strane on tail board!!!
Nothing strange about it. Same principle as a Bateson Scissor tip. Several advantages. Very easy to take the top off. No tipping mechanism on the side of the body so body can be wider. No opening back door so body is stronger.
if it was your ass in the seat goin down the highway at 25 to 30 mph you would want weight on your side now wouldent you when it came to stopping and takin off

one of the selling points was that the tailboard wouldnt spread the grass across the yard as the trailer pulled away
