Its really great there are so many admirers of Sally Forrest, an immensely talented dancer who's numbers were the highlight of this film, the Red Skelton turn-of-the century comedy Excuse My Dust and the Mickey Rooney film-noir vehicle The Strip (as in Las Vegas). Ironically, Sally became more known as a film-noir actress (Ida Lupino's Not Wanted, Otto Preminger's Whirlpool, John Sturges' Mystery Street, Fritz Lang's When The City Sleeps).
A few nights ago I watched a western called "Vengeance Valley" (1951) with Burt Lancaster and Robert Walker. I was surprised and delighted to see that Sally Forrest played Lily, the nice young woman who is disgraced when she bears a child out of wedlock to Robert Walker, the married son of of the influential, wealthy local cattle rancher. She was a very competent actress.
Thanks for the alert on those noirs - I'll try to track them down.
Years ago I bought the VHS of Vengeance Valley off ebay for about $9 autographed by Sally Forrest at an autograph show. Very few remember her but any film with Sally Forrest is worth checking out and a few are on DVD, otherwise TCM and AMC plays some. She was a protege of noir director Ida Lupino in HARD, FAST AND BEAUTIFUL and NEVER FEAR besides the aforementioned NOT WANTED and they starred together in WHILE THE CITY SLEEPS (not When The City Sleeps as I earlier wrote).
i did'nt know Sally Forrest she is not bad at all.
by the way may I suggest Rondha Fleming in Queen of Babylone and in the Son of AliBaba (1953) a dancer with a golden mask in the same spirit that obviously you appreciate
Sally Forrest was an amazingly hot dancer and what a body. Its so annoying not more of her dancing talents were used on the big screen. If I had been Howard Hughes I would have had her in every film. Literally.
Sally Forrest's flesh-coloured skimpy oufit makes it look as if she is dancing naked in some camera shots. As scotpens points out, there is an awful lot of her beautiful flesh on show, so much that you wonder how this erotic dance got past the censorship.
Originally filmed in 1953, the picture did have problems with the Production Code, but it eventuallly got an MPAA certificate and was finally released 2 years later. It was also filmed in 3-D but unfortunately was released "flat." The movie, that is -- not the girls!
WOW love her outfit! I hired one like hers once for a fancy dress, i dont know how she danced with those ropes hanging down, i couldnt even walk without mine getting in the bloody way and in between my legs.lol...maybe mine were a little longer.lol
Are you the immensely talented person I think you are or some impostor with a very curious Youtube user name?
If the latter, then I love your story. If the former, then I love everything about you, but especially that phenomenal voice. I also love your story. Many thanks also for stimulating our imaginations with talk of tassels dangling between your legs. Delectably cruel!
Sorry, forgive my naivety. For anyone who cares, this MissAmyWinehouse is an impostor. She (or he) identifies themselves as a 29-year-old from the UK, but the REAL Miss Amy Winehouse is only 25.
Pole dancing, 1955 style! That's a lot of flesh on display for the time. How did that costume stay on -- glue? Suction? Willpower?
Produced by Howard Hughes, "Son of Sinbad" was a typical Arabian Nights fantasy padded out (the movie, not the girls) with harem dance routines. Well-known playboy Hughes must have promised all those women that he'd get them into movies!
That's exactly why it is posted here - for pure titilation, not as an appreciation of the "art of dance". This film is famous for being one of sexiest of the era.
Sally Forrest's parents were both amateur ballroom dancers and she began dance lessons at an early age. MGM signed her straight out of high school and she appeared as a dancer in her first film, "Till the Clouds Roll By" (1946), when she was only eighteen. In the Fifties and Sixties she did dramatic roles on television.
Hahaha! Who was the Choreographer? Who ever he was, he must have been addicted to some night time cold medicine or something. It is the only explanation!
Seriously folks! This is embarassing to the Caucasian rhythm
LOL! The dance looked more like a stripper with a pole. I loved the collective sighs of the women when Sinbad grabbed the girl and kissed her. LOL!

A lot of dances in this film. But all women dance with shoes, it's so less sexy than barefoot.

I'm sure there is a species of foot fetishist out there who would not agree with that comment.

That costume is so skimpy and skin color that she looks nude half the time. Burlesque dancer
