mmm I never landed something this size, just wondering if the spoiler and reverse thrusters were meant to be used prior to the nose wheel making contact, thus having all wheels down with positive contact with the runway. 1 - it is not the ILS. It's the ADF and it has nothing to do with this "manual landing" crap.

And if you want to argue about whether it's an ILS or ADF, I'll be happy to take that Pepsi challenge. Just as a hint, you don't identify an ADF, you identify an NDB. When you decide to make someone look stupid, make sure you come prepared. Another Flight Sim "pilot" that thinks he can fly a real 747.

@hypersonicaurora Hey Einstein, all the identifier does on the ILS is verify you have a good signal and the RIGHT frequency. Doesn't have anything to do at all with autopilot or whether or not you're flying manual. And reverse thrust is not automatically deployed as soon as you touch the ground. The PIC deploys it. Fly a real plane and stop basing your facts off of Flight Sim.

I think you forgot a few steps. 1. Shut engines down while burning. 2. NEVER apply reverse thrust until front landing gear is down. 3. If your going to keep the burning engines running, dont have them at 100% N1.

Actually the 744, you can engage reverse thrust prior to derotation. However, with 2 engines out, you wouldn't use reversers as it will cause the aircraft ot weathervane towards the failed engines due to asymetrical thrust., AND YES.. PULL THOSE DAMMED FIRE HANDLES!

If you put the ILS in the navigation radios and than turn on the identifir you will still hear it even if you are flying manually and the AP isoff.

Many pilots use the fly by hand instead of using the ap for the approach..

Than by the same logic if the AP and APP mode is on but the identif. is off you wont hear the morse code thus not knowing if its a manual but not being in the cockpit yourself. Get your facts straight!

I don't really agree. It's not really a flight simulator. It's more like a hint at a flight simulator. I've been in a real sim and it's nothing like this.

I used to be such a strong advocate for these games, and I used to attack people who called this just another 'game', but ever since I started taking real flight lessons I've completely changed. After lesson two I uninstalled the game...

When you land with 2 engines out, you use the reversers of the 2 good engines; Brakes alone will not stop the plane and you run the risk of brake failure and/or tire failure and resultant loss of control. You're doing over 150 knots on touchdown, you need all the help you can get.

2 and 3 engines are both inboard engines, one on each side and the reverse thrust would be symmetrical so there's no real problem. There would be a real problem, say, if engines 1 and 2 only were reversed, or 3 and 4. Then you have asymmetrical reverse thrust. Even if you have one engine out and use the other 3 engines to reverse thrust, you have asymmetry. You have to keep it symmetrical.

Hearing beeps doesn't mean you actually use the navigational aid. The beep is just the morse ident of the navigational aid. Yes, he was tuned to the NavAid (not necessarly an ILS, could be a VOR or NDB as well) but tuned to the station doesn't mean you use it too.
