  • Why they always have to add stupid colorful animals to make it more "fun"?

  • WHY DID HANNA-BARBERA MAKE THIS GOD-AWFUL SHOW?

  • Too bad that 'Joanie Loves Chachi' bombed. I have a feeling that 'Joanie Loves Chachi in Space' would have joined this show the following season if it had continued.

  • God, Hanna Barbera truly were the kings of making mind-rotting, crappy cartoons.

  • Does this show really need TWO different talking dog sidekicks?

  • I'm so glad that TV cartoon's have finally improved over this cheap crap.

  • i guess ABC decided to cram everything into one show to save money....cheap skates

  • Facepalm

  • @Lanceawright lol

  • This must have been short lived for ABC. I do not remember this cartoon at all.

  • Wow, flashback... I actually remember seeing this cartoon in the mornings on ABC.

  • the music in the scene where mork is driving down the street sounds like it could be the theme music for a cartoon version of sanford & son lol

  • . .. .somebody please tell me this a joke.

    wtf IS this crap?

  • paramount television ruby spears

  • wow mindy's apartment looked like crap

  • wow what a title!!! haha

  • I remember this. I don't remember a lot about it, though. I remember the Laverne & Shirley theme in the opening medley. I suppose, they were trying to create a Private Benjamin type of feel. Things like this, Plasticman, and the plethora of Live show conversions weren't always the best, but they were far better than the stuff today. I long for crappy 80's cartoons.

  • Man am I Old

  • If this ain't ABC Saturday Morning, IDK what is, real talk!

  • So wild. I never thought I'd see this again.

  • i got a boner when I saw Mindy in this cartoon :-)

  • @TheMashwatcher585 The series was in the second season before I acquired that ability and then it was hard to tell. Lots of things could get me... going.... and I never could pinpoint it.

  • what the hell is going on in this cartoon

  • I think you can say there were too many spin-offs by this time.

  • Do they have enough layers piled on here yet?

  • LSD was hell of a drug I take it.

  • This is actual images projected live from the mind of Robin Williams during the filming of Mork And Mindy. He was that high

  • @DeckyStrikesBack You & me both.

  • @DeckyStrikesBack You mean he was that epically high, right?

  • I've think i've entered an alternate dimension, where cartoons suck hardcore and openings are nonsensical. But 4kids has always been that way! *Laugh track*

  • Think they could fit Good Times in their too?

  • Why is Laverne and Shirley's Sargent a pig?

  • wat

  • why does mork and mindy have the samford and son intro theme? 0:14

  • ahh the 80's. when they made a cartoon about everything

  • That was very painful to watch.

  • Truly Horrific! No, Robin Williams can't be annoying enough by himself. He needs some animal sidekick to really grab the laughs. Oh, and give Laverne and Shirley a pig and the Fonz a dog.

@json1977 I was twelve when this was on the air. Did I watch it? You bet your ass I did. We watched everything that was on t.v. That's what you do when you're unable to discern good from bad. Why do you think "Phineas and Ferb" succeeds.

  • @chemistryguy

NOW WAIT...Phineas and Ferb is 1000 times better that this ^%$#. And that should be obvious.

  • @Kapitananime Ha ha ha ha ha ha! How old were you again?

  • @Kapitananime But P&P's defense, it is original at least.

  • @chemistryguy: Turning Mork into a teenager is 'original'? You must have a strange sense of what 'original' means.

  • @Neville6000 By P&P I'm referring to Phineas and F(Ph?)erb. Shoulda said P&F. They are original, but not very good. Mork and Mindy was unoriginal AND bad.

  • @chemistryguy: Phineas and Ferb are a hell of a lot more 'good' than a cartoon about Mork & Mindy as teenagers.

  • @Kapitananime: Damn straight!

  • OMG!!! Its Robin Williams as the voice of Mork, and Pam Dewber

  • I remember that cartoon!

  • I wouldn't.

  • I never watch this and it looks like I didn't miss anything. The Fonz cartoon was best when he was in the time machine. It was always interesting to see him handle bad guys from different periods of history.

  • Jeez. The turned EVERY sitcom into a cartoon back then, didn't they?

  • @crescentfreshbret I'm surpised that there was NEVER an All In The Family cartoon show

  • @gtz1975 There was one done with dogs called the Barkleys. And no, I'm not making that up.

  • @crescentfreshbret

No, just the family sitcoms, which Mork and Mindy was. They also had Mork and Mindy lunch boxes and toys. I really have no idea how Laverne and Shirley got a cartoon. That one had me scratching my head even as a kid.

  • On a different note, is anyone else having trouble posting responses to this video?

I have tried **12 TIMES** to post another response and it is still choking on them.

Looks like another wonderful 'feature' for the YouTube crew to fix. 9_9

  • aw so horrible

  • Wow I thought this was some kind of urban legend...it was really a show?

  • Yes, it was, along with a cartoon based on the Happy Days show and Laverne & Shirley (when they were in the army).

  • I am a happier person not knowing this existed until now. Regarding the comment on the top, I do wonder how much blow was snorted in the executive board room to have this greenlighted.

  • Probably the same amount that

    - brought a Rubik's cube to life

    - gave us intelligent (transforming) robots

    - turned arcade games into their own universes

    - gave Mxyzptlk a mind to make a movie (among other mischief)

It's almost a shame they ran out in the 80s.

    *imagines Kim Possible fighting a 60' She-go*

    *gives his head a shake*

  • Cocaine's a powerful drug.

  • Close enough..

  • So bad it's horrible.

  • And yet people say that this is better than cartoons now (*shudder*)

  • I'm impressed that the actual actors from the series agreed to do this cartoon. Usually the voices on these spinoff cartoons are/were done by no name v/o actors.

  • I use to watch that when I was in the 1st grade: that brought back memories when saturday mornings were "The shit". T_T.

  • Absolutely bizarre in its cheesiness.

  • You said it!

  • The actor's paycheck were bigger than the entire cartoon's budget.

  • Again, you said it!

  • Ron "Horshack" Pallilo did voice the pig after all

  • @nuwavevidspud: And yet, people see this as a classic.

  • Damn, what happened to Saturday Mornings?!

  • I will take this cartoon over so called cartoons today.

  • They were really stretching for cartoon ideas.

  • You said it.

  • True, but it will get dull in a few episodes. That's what happen with me and Boomerang. The best thing to do is bring back shows from the 90's. Something a little more recent. Stuff from the 70's and 80's helps a little, but can lose is luster.

  • @Koolazzmike this cartoon is trash. it was crap then. I was 7 and I refused then to watch it. the had to be high to put this crapolla stuff on.

  • It's still here.

  • corporations took them over and made them in to amusing 30 commercials for those who don't know any better

  • Basically, a 'concerned soccer mom' named Peggy Charren wanted them to be 'more educational' and, unfortunately, the FCC agreed. 9_9

So, instead taking a well-earned break from bullies and abusive teachers pounding a 'gud ed-you-kay-shun' into our skulls, we were slowly bored to death/'encouraged' to go outside. -_-!

FWIW, there have been exceptions to the 'modern 'toon = bad' rule (ie Daria, Megas XLR) but they are few and far between.

I want my (animated) childhood back - *uncut* on DVD!!

  • Excuse me, but there have been a lot more good shows than just Daria and Megas XLR, if you cared to look.

  • You mean like Downtown, Kim Possible, Gummi Bears, Darkwing Duck, Talespin, Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers, Batman:TAS, Batman Beyond, Justice League (Unlimited), Ren and Stimpy (First Season), Juniper Lee, Duckman, Spawn (first 6 eps) and Spicy City?

With garbage like Winx Club, Gadget Boy, Wishkid and Alien Force polluting the airwaves, they'd be hard to miss.

In fact, if you know of any shows that are better than the ones I've listed, post them.

The networks need all the help they can get.

  • @ChainsawGenie: That was in the supposedly amazing 70's, BTW-home of shows like Mission Magic, Super Friends (which couldn't even show the JLA kicking butt like they do now on Justice League and Justice League Unlimited!), Lassie's Rescue Rangers and a whole lot of other shows-by the 80's all of what ACT had done was rescinded by the Reagan Administration (one thing I can thank Reagan for, and that's not a lot.) Cartoons now can show the butt kicking you like, so stop bitching.

  • Please don't use this shitty excuse for a cartoon as a reason to imply that cartoons now are crap-they aren't. Take a GOOD look at what's on NOW before putting your fingers to the keyboard.

  • You don't have to get so defensive. This cartoon is far from great, but it aired at a time when Saturday Mornings were still a tradition for cartoons, therefore it gets a pass.

  • @Neville6000 Well it's just a matter of different time ,different era.....everyone likes something different...fans who grew up in the 60's, 70's 80's 90's and 200's will naturally like those cartoons they grew up with. it's the same with music. you will like the music you grew up with compared to other decades.

  • @Astraldragon1: Sorry, but this is crap, by any standard, and in any decade.

  • @Koolazzmike: They got better than this show.

  • fitting LAVERNE and SHIRLEY being order around by a PIG

  • I stopped watching when they added Laverne and Shirley in the Army to The Fonz and the Happy Days Gang. Since Fonz is apparently in the Army with L&S, I assume this happens after they "get back to Milwaukee 1957"? Amd I never knew they animated Mork and Mindy. Ye Gods!

(Can you imagine if they tried to animate some of the sitcoms from today? An animated version of "The Big Bang Theory" or "My Name Is Earl"? Talk about 'adult swim')

  • what laverne doesnt apear in a mork & mindy episode, when mork have a date with the help of Fonzi?

    That episode was so cool!

  • House: The Animated Series

The Seinfeld, Friends and Ray Romano Hour

    Desperate Housewives the Cartoon Series!

  • And leave us not forget: "The Young Mentalist" ( His Adventures in Junior High School).

But, seriously "House : The Animated Series"? ROTLMAO!

  • o/` Our-r-r-r-r 'House'...is a very, very, very fine 'House' o/`

*gets crushed by a falling anvil*

  • CSI Plus 4: similar to 'Emergency Plus 4', but with teenagers helping out the CSI guys solve crimes (complete with their own van!)

NCIS: TAS, same as CSI Plus 4

Battlestar Galactica, complete with teenagers who are slight 'clones of Lee, Bill Adama, Starbuck, and Tigh

NUMBERS: The Animates Series, complete with a team of young helpers of the NUMBERS gang.

  • I had no idea there was a Mork And Mindy cartoon.

  • When i was a ltter Boy I watch Mork and Mindy was First Time (Dubbed in Arabic Early 80's).

  • really wow, my first time ws dubbed in spanish

  • MORK AND MINDY BACK ON 2009

  • I MEAAN WHAT MORK AND MINDY GONNA BACK

  • You're still not making any sense.

  • i wish~

  • i wish that too but i dont know, maybe, we hope what that make it real dude

  • Mind you, knowing 'WhollyOdd', they'll probably 'reveal' Orson as the pig from US Acres in a later episode.

Orson (to a nearby fence post): Hey, Mork, long time to see.

  • Hannah-Barbera. It all comes together now.

  • Ruby-Spears Production helped make this cartoon.

  • no different than the scooby doo puppy hour I bet kids back then were puzzled to see the HB/RS Logo on the same broadcast. I found out that the reason both companies were producing these cartoons together was due to the Taft Entertainment Company joining both companies.

  • I didn't know they did an animated Mork and Mindy, knew about the rest though.

  • need to upload episodes.

  • WHAT YEAR WAS THIS CARTOON ON ABC

  • It was around 1982 and 1983.

  • Great comment. I agree!

  • why

  • Talk about forgetting a show. And I did see this on ABC (obviously) since they showed the live action ones of these. Man these were the days you could stay in your pajamas till Noon or after American Bandstand was over and then get on with your day

  • All i can say is..wow

  • the cartoon pam dawber was hot..like jessica rabbit hot..mmmmm yep

  • Scrappy Doo?

  • I don't know about Scrappy; he's certainly not my favorite but at least he solved mysteries. Mork was just moronic day after day, week after week, and accomplished nothing; unless you count giving birth to Jonathan Winters(!).

  • I liked scrappy, until he started to upstage his uncle scooby... then yeah..

  • ALF was ten times more annoying.

  • Good point.

  • WOW Been ages since I saw this cartoon. I had seen the Happy Days Gang and Laverne and Shirley cartoon but had forgotten the Mork and Mindy cartoon. Loved all three of the TV shows.

  • I would love to see this on DVD. I'm a big fan of Hanna Barbara and Ruby Spears. They were the bomb back then. Now i didn't grow up in these years but i did grow up in the 80's and 90's which HB and RB were still going strong. Loved every show they ever produced.

  • After Mork gets into the car the theme sounds like a cartoon version of Sanford & Son....

  • Cartoons back than were so awesome!

  • guycab-Some were bad back then but majority were good and better than what there is now.

  • I agree with hulkwolf1971. I'm not saying that the 80's cartoons were emmy-award winning classics nor in any way as good as the cartoons of the 40's and 50's but you have to admit, animation and especially stories in cartoons for the most part have taken a downward spiral since the beginning.

  • No doubt. Cartoons in 80's were fun to watch but cannot find a decent one now except for old Tom and Jerry or Bugs Bunny. Voltron and 80's Transformers were back on for a while but gone again.

  • For the people complaining "it looks like crap" & "it doesn't look like Mork", animation was not the same then as it is now. Anyway, I had no idea Mork & Mindy was a cartoon.

  • usually the people who think it looks like crap and the animation is bad are usually people who are too young to know what animation was like back then and only grew up on computer animated crud that takes 3 minutes to animate. These actually were hand drawn and painted - compared to the stories and cartoons they have out now, Hanna Barbera and Ruby Spears were legendary. They owned Saturday mornings - when kids had a reason to get up early to catch a decent cartoon.

  • Well said!

  • 'Well said?' More like badly said and full of shit, if you think that this show is better than anything that's been on since.

  • Damn right. Well said.

  • Excuse me, but I'm a fan of that 'computer animated crud' (Iron Man, Grossology, a couple of others) and they sure as hell are more imaginative than cartoons based on Mork & Mindy/Happy Days/Laverne & Shirley. Just in case you think I don't know what I'm talking about, I'm 41-old enough to have seen these shows.

  • @Neville6000 41 and watching crappy kids cartoons! Hey everyone listen to this guys sage advice! LOLZ!

  • @Dinosaurprince: I watch and am a fan of ANIMATION (anime, domestic) and I'm proud to be like that. Lost of adults do-check out a website called 'Cartoon Brew'.

  • Yeah, 'cause a connoisseur like you knows what great animation is. What you know comes out of your ass, and that's about all. There have been great shows on in the recent years, if you cared to get your head out of said ass and watch.

  • ABC's 1982 1983 Saturday Morning Line-Up

8:00am The Best of the Superfriends

    8:30am The Pac-Man/Little Rascals/Richie Rich Show

    10:00am The Mork & Mindy/Laverne & Shirley/Fonz Hour

11:00am The Scooby and Scrappy Doo/Puppy Hour

    12:00pm The ABC Weekend Specials

    12:30pm American Bandstand

  • The Mork character looks nothing like Robin Williams.

  • Ruby-Spears animated the Mork And Mindy segments while Hanna-Barbera did the Laverne And Shirley/Fonz segments.

  • And yet veteran H-B animator Ed Love animated this entire opening title sequence- the first, longer portion with Mork and the second, shorter portion with Laverne & Shirley.

  • Yet Hanna-Barbera and Ruby-Spears collaborated to work on this show like they did with "The Plastic Man Comedy/Adventure Show."

  • No, only Ruby-Spears made this show. Warner Bros. owns the studio properties and Plastic Man, since he's owned by DC, which is owned by Warners.

  • They're both in association with Paramount.

  • Hanna-Barbera animated ALL of the segments, and both companies weren't united until Ted Turner's various buyouts of the '90's made them cousins underneath the corporate banner of Warner Bros./Cartoon Network.

  • The only difference is the names, really!
