I thought it was a really interesting way to do it, have them perform the song in the middle of the audience like that. Kind of like black box instead of a big elaborate set. And my only issue is that Chiffon, Ronnette, and Crystal are modeled after the Supremes, a successful BLACK singing trio and these girls are, well pronouncing every letter...Like they sing "You better, telling you you better" but it should be more like "you betTAH, tellin you you betTAH"

therefore, they should act more stereotypical "black." People say that because there is a clear difference between the assumed way a 50's black girl and white girl should act.

@HoroGirl I really don't find it to be a race issue. But I will say this, they lack soul in their singing. This intro, as well as the other songs sang by those characters, require a lot of soul. And yes, that soul is more commonly found in the voices of black women.

@HoroGirl it's not they sound white, u can't sound a blanket statement for countless cultures put into a single color stereotype, their voices are just somewhat flat. They worried too much about being in tune and harmony, but forgot to give it emotion.... common mistake, not a race issue...

Preforming on a round stage is very hard, you have to be sure that everyone can see you, thats whey they walking round in circles! That stage is tiny!!! Singing is great except 1:43 in that girl!!!

Amazing performace. My school is doing this show this Thursday and I love that you are peppy in this song. I play the role of Ronette. During our rehearsals, we found that the three girls are not as enjoyable to watch when they are edgy. Great performance :)

Hrm... what I didn't like was that it was too... pretty. Too nice. Too 50s white-girl. You know? In my school's production we tried to be less nice and more sassy because it's a cautionary song. But I'm assuming there was no pit orchestra, which is a shame because then you're not using the music they give you when you buy rights to the play, and I don't know why, but that makes me sad. I just hate this version because everyone seems to do it.

There is a pit, its up above on a balcony u just can't see it. However the pit consisted of about 5 really talented people. Bass guitar, regular guitar, keyboard, drums, and a guy with this crazy thing called an electric trumpet or something that can manipulate almost all wind instruments and you play it like a wind instrument as well but its electric.

@omeria68 I checked this girl's page out to see how she was qualified to say "this sux." Of course, it looks like her high school did this musical, and she was an urchin. Needless to say, the video of her is nowhere near as good as these girls.

I've been watching these videos a lot and wondering why there are so many negative comments, seeing as it's the best version I've seen aside from the Broadway ones. There must be a ton of high schoolers on here...
